AA Missile launcher or maybe gatline turret upgrade. it would build like the turret on the overlord. I figure destroyers should be the biggest boats and be the big guns of the naval forces? IDK. does not matter to me.

Polycount is up to 800 for Vehicles/Aircraft, up to 2000 for buildings and I think arround 200 or 300 for infantry, mind you, the overlord only has 375 polies
does it convert polys to meshes upon export?
The general shape is very good, but you need to massively scale down the anti-ship missile containers aft of the funnel and I would say redo the gun mount completely - at the moment it really looks nothing like the original I'm afraid. The hangar also looks too short - if you look on the reference image it has a step-in on which the rear mast is mounted that doesn't seem to be on the model. It looks like you could probably save some polys on the funnels themselves - there's no real need to make them as round as can be, particularly if you can use the polys saved to put in some more details (particularly the anti-submarine rocket launchers on the foredeck and CIWS guns either side of the main mast).
-shrug- just because the real think inspires the boat does not mean it has to look exactly like it. If you wanna get technically there is a whole much of things that are off about it. mainly things I dislike about the original boat.
anyway. It is wrapped.
Of course, it's entirely up to you. Just wanted to make clear though that my 'at the moment it really looks nothing like the original' comment referred only to the gun mounting; the rest of it is highly recognisable and good stuff.
why thank you. I dislike testical turrets. with mini pew pew cannons. So I gave it a real gun lol. I think it would be cool to put a battle master turret on it.
If anyone actually feels like taking it off my hands I would probably go around and use some of EAs stuff. give it a name so it does nto actually need to be compared to the type 52.

The texture on the hull looks strange and should appear as it is seen in the real life picture - not white, but "China green" - and smooth with the same small details that you would find on the hull of a real ship. The large panel on the bridge with the red star looks incongruous as well and would look much better without - sometimes less is more.
Aside from those minor critiques it looks great.
yeah I was just pasting stuff on quickly lol. I will probably fiddle with it over the course of a few days and if i ever see it in game fiddle with it some more.
a lot of it needs smoothing. I really should learn to make from scratch textures. but I had texturing.

Edit: I fixed the hull quite easily. just took a fe of those rivit points and filled in between them. smoothing it out a bit (not 100%). made it look nice.

for GLA's "big boat" I was thinking an old crabber converted to have a scud or Frog-7 type launcher welded to the back lol. any feedback?

The missile(s) could have some sort of sheeting over it, partly Because covert The nose and exhaust should be visible however. The model itself should be wider, and perhaps the flaps as seen on the example could be used to absorb back blast, or whatever that thing is used for. Maybe missile could be part hydro foil and use ground effect because delayed stuffs.
Yep. I fixed the boat body up a bit. I like the idea of the cover. I ave not yet began to work on the launcher. I thi9nk it would be cool if it had an unpack animation and a repack whcih show it hoisting another missile into place. But IDK if it would work right.

I forgot how.. so if I point a piece of the thing at a texture and want the black to be invisible (like on a fence) how do I do it again?
Also, I added some stuff. Inspired my regular ships A frame cranes.
Changed the tower a bit (alot if you notice) and added some much needed detail.
That is really starting to get somewhere. The tower body however is very large now, and comes out a bit bulky without too much details. Maybe the skin will fix that though.
yeah. Paint always makes things look better. the boats of that style done really have much detail there anyway.

USA basic shape. I took some stealth ship looks and added the tower from the aegis cruiser (which I love) now it will not clash with the chinese regular modern ship look too much.

yeah the US cruiser I tossed togehter in like 10 minutes. I did not feel like adding the detail yet.
for skins I take the EA stuff and slice and dice it into what I have there.
I decided i disliked the front. So I redid it..
I dunno if I should add a cannon on the front or save that for the other ship... though ships seems to be more multi-role (except for gla)
I added a turret. I dunno if i should add a barrel or just texture it as a missile turret.
it folds up nice and flush so it keeps the angular stealth look.
Please make suggestions. I feel it needs some changes before I texture it.
I love the Scud Boat - fantastic stuff, and the skin makes it nigh perfect.
With regards to the US cruiser, I'd have to say that while the Ticonderoga's superstructure is highly distinctive, I personally think copying it precisely makes this design look extremely top-heavy and unstable (the Ticos do anyway it's true, but then they have a much longer superstructure behind the bridge & SPY-1 arrays). The other details are awesome but I'd advocate reducing the height between the hull top and the bevel by at least a quarter to a third.

I think you really should make custom skins for this one. I like the grey colour of the hull, but I don't like the riveted white line above it.
I like your model mainly because the superstructure is somewhat integrated with the hull. With that riveted white line you break that up too much.

as for what i will do with them. IDk. Gen konobi wants them for his Project Evan's mod but I have yet to play it and the Quality of it seems low. But he has good shipyard code... I dunno. It would be cool if shockwave took them off my hands because their mod and code and FX effects are of good Ql..... but they are stubborn and picky so.. that is highly unlikely.

Why is the Shockwave team stubborn?
On the boat, making it a drone ship would actually be a very good idea, if you plan on adding the Zumwalt class. That one is a missile destroyer, and this bigger boat with the large bay in the back could be excellent as a drone carrier.
However, aircraft carrier logic of planes setting off and returning isn't possible in Zero Hour I believe, so the drones will not be able to return in the game code.
I was gonna make the Zumwalt like a battleship (instead of a destroyer) Drone carrier would be something different. Probably based off the USS independence. Does that seem sound?
and the carrier code does not work? shame. I was close once.. I forgot how. I think I had a boat.. had an airfield attached to it via overlord gattline gun code so that the airfield was attached to the boat hull. It came with people inside (planes) and used GLA tunnel fanatic code to make the planes protect its master.. or something... I forget why it did not work but I recall it kind of working. this was many years ago.. like pre ZH and I stopped modding Generals before ZH was even out.

I think I know what the problem might be with the aircraft carriers.
Do the planes try to land in the same place they took off? Meaning if you move the ship it confuses them?
Also, I think the Chinese ship looks great. But as said before, you might want to remove the star on the wooden decking?

when i first did the ship i was a tad rushed. IDk why. SO I am redoing it a tad. making it a bit more chinese. here is the new shape.
modified the battlemaster turret to make it fit better IMHO.
changed the hull shape to be less triangular.
lengthened it and changed the towers and smoke stack.
made the rear hanger actually goes inward so maybe one day a (drone code) sub killer helio can come out of it if need be
a few fixes here and there.
now to re-texture.

Maybe in game you just spawn/build helicopters from it. Be easier than having them protect it.

Regarding the GLA Scud Fish, you should make it so the Scud missiles (while on the deck) are facing the back of the boat instead of the front. I know realism isn't a big thing, but if ya got those big missiles launching from the rear the boat will flip backwards. I would suggest moving the missile rack to just behind the conn tower of the boat and opens up so that the missiles are in the middle of the boat insead of at the back.
It's a missile, not a cannon. While with a cannon I would support you, I like this look way better than what you suggested.
a boat has its engines, cabins, balist tanks, etc etc in the front. it has plenty of weight in the front. it my capsize but not flip front over back. besides then you need holes in the middle of the boat for the thrusters where as currently it just has a thrust diversion plate (textured)

I also think that you should render in a way that the bottom part won't be covered in shadow.

One comment about the new Chinese ship is that you could probably do with having some more team colour areas on it. If there were two of those going head to head you couldn't tell which one was which very easily.

it is supposed to be flying at the chinese trool crawler but it failed to look as such because of team color.
Yeah I know I need to add more team color. I need to take a good look at things and see how muc team color they generally have and where it is.. the stuff I add was just and experiment to see if i did it right.

Pretty cool work on the ships, but the Battlemaster turret on the Chinese destroyer just looks...weird.
it is not so battlemastery anymore though >.> it looks closer to the real gun for the ship. so..
not much to look at with out guns or a texture but the basic shape of the zumwalt inspired battleship is roughly done.

well if you think about it, the stinger site technically has 3 "turrets" (the stinger dudes) so yeh it's possible.
yeah. I am trying to get the model in game to try and code it to see if it is worth really redoing it to hold four guns. but I am having little luck. it just wll not now ingame.. IDK why..
but I did a quick 2 minute fixing to see how it would look with 4 guns. It certainly makes a plain ship seem more battleshipy.
4 Turrets are the maximum without haveing any bugs (for a unit).

Yea, that's pretty much it you can add, being stealth and all.
I would suggest to remove the third turret (the back upper turret) because it seems to have a pretty bad firing arc, and as well with the usual WWII battleship setup (I compare to that because that was the last time they were active) a common setup for US ships was two turrets in front, and one in the back.
You could replace it with some sort of anti aircraft gun. It's a battleship after all, so that would give it a bit more protection and more independent, fitting the USA theme.
naval mod? I will not "give you" my units unless you do there effects and the ship yards and such the way that I have imagined.
but If you are willing to do them nice and pretty to nice Quality coding (like shockwave does) then perhaps.
as for the submarines.. generals would be awful submarines because the water is not opaque. plus submarines (to look good) suck up polys.
How you imagine it then? I have always been keen on adding a functional navy to Generals, just that SAGE just doesn't do it that well. The only real way to eliminate the bugs with building naval yards is to have them pre-placed in maps, in a tech building manner.
nah. you just have the center of the building like a peir that leads outward and you rotate the actually "unit appears here" bone so it sits in the water. also, the guy that is doing project evans mod has a functioning system. but it needs major quality improvements.
The reason I am so picky about what happens to my boats is simple. once upon a time i modded generals. I made a nice PT boat for some guy that was called.. ere? or rer? i forget. it planes and titled when tuning and all sorts of things (custom locomotor that took some work) and when he took it he ripped it out and my boat looked like shit.

I added the weird radar inset radar dome form the ddg-1000 and some radar domes from other stealth ships... then inset the spy1 arrays and stuff.

Still a major bug. Imagine you could build on water in ZH. Even if the units just get stuck there and cannot move, their weapons still can fire, and the whole thing will just detract a lot of quality from whatever mod it is in.

well fuck it. there is no way to smoothly export 3ds max 9 to generals format on an uinstable vista platform. so screw it. I will just make them. if someone wants them let me know. I will wanna play a beta of your mode and determine if your mode Ql is nice.

well.. the guns I have been cloning and deleting over and over. I simply forgot to add it again. it is easily redone.
the problem with transparent water is you then need to add the bottoms of the ships... which adds a lot of polys...

but Chinas would be the ekranoplan. it coudl go on land but be slow.... but carry alot.
there is a great many designs for them so one could easily be derived for china.

It's possible to do a mobile factory, but not a mobile airfield where planes can take off and land. Just a helipad is possible.
Hmm yea it would be quite interesting for that, or just have the helicopters circle around like the drones of USA vehicles.
