SWR Productions Forum _ The Databank _ A question regarding theoretical physics

Posted by: Jet02 27 Dec 2016, 10:26

One of my friends mentioned a quantum mechanical model in which the universe has no beginning nor an end. How does this work? What do quantum effects have to do with the existence of an origin?

Explain in simple english please. I have a rudimentary(is that the right word?) understanding of quantum theory-a few technical terms would be okay, but i'm not a physicist(yet).

To the admin(s?): this isn't really "news" in the conventional sense but i find this topic too geeky to belong in general chat, not ridiculous enough for the loony bin and it's just plain stupidity to put this in the mod forums. Please do move this to wherever you think it should belong if necessary.
