Quick add: I'm playing against this general (GLA Demo) with GLA general Deathstrike in one stage, and on the other, USA General Ironside.

Greets all, I have a little problem here, I have been playing generals challenge since a while with Shockwave, and had the opportunity to play against GLA General Demo Jhuziz, who starts making suicide attacks since the beginning of the mission, which gives me some trouble, after a good bunch of tries I finally set some perimeter defences (Tried this with general Ironside and then Deathstrike) but without much results as a few minutes later I get a warning about a SCUD storm with 5 minute timer and abussive attacks with suicide bikes and tanks, followed by rocket buggies and TOPOL missile launchers which turn my defenses to dust, I had just little more luck with general ironside because he has a Phalanx anti-air systems to beat the TOPOL missiles.
Also with both generals I tried to use combinations of units to improve the deffenses even more, but in both cases I can't get artillery in time to defend, neither enough units on both entrances to my base (I see in the beginning Demo uses all 4 entrances to rush me, then he uses just 2: 1 in the north, 1 on the south) to make defenses good, specially if I try to defend the south part, some TOPOL missile launchers at the other side of the river convert my tanks to scrap or obliberate my soldiers, and we are not even talking about pushing into his territory... It somehow ends like this: boom8.gif lol
So here I'am, stuck in this with those 2 generals, if anybody has a good idea on how to beat Demo general, I would be grateful, thanks in advance. 8Isov.gif

I start by building a barracks and training 4-6 infantry; put the infantry on guard mode to the NW of your base - about half way between the supply pile and the concrete bunker/oil rig (where the first group of cycles come from); the bikes will suicide against the infantry thus giving you time to setup some defenses; make sure you spread the infantry out enough so that 1 bike only kills 1 soldier; you can do the same to the SW/SE of the base ... though you may want a couple rocket soldiers to take on the first couple bomb trucks that come from the SE of your base

regardless of general, try to keep your units and buildings to the left 2/3 of your base area; the farther you go to the right the easier it will be for topols to hit you from across the river or down in the (NE) valley

for deathstrike, technicals are fast so use them to run out and attack topols before they can launch; make sure you micro-manage your units to pick up crates (from killed enemy vehicles => more money and better weapons on your vehicles); you may find that a couple upgraded radar trucks can help defend against the topols (I've noticed that the radar truck tracks the incoming missile with some sort of beam and if strong enough tends to either deflect or destroy the missile); I don't recall if deathstrike has camoflauged infantry ... but if he does, send a few out away from your base to act as early warning (note: you'll need to keep an eye on the mini-map and take action accordingly when you see topols moving towards your base); jarmen kel can also be used to good effect by sniping vehicles at the NE of your base where they come up the ramp just before the machine gun post => I've used JK to snipe enough vehicles to form a traffic jam for follow-on vehicles => they just pile up in that location thus not putting a burden on my NE defences

for armor general you don't have the benefit of any 'fast' ground vehicles, though you may try strikers; his fighter/bombers are really good at taking out topols (and buggies) with a single hit, though you'll want to place the airfield away from the HQ (so airfield isn't taken out by scud storm); obviously (?) you'll also need to defend the airfield against suicide attacks; personally I just use a few phalanxes for topol defense and then take my time taking out the topols; my major concern is the rocket buggies and tanks (w/ missile launcher racks); I've usually got col burton and artillery to help with these threats; deploy aerial drones out away from your base to provide early warning of incoming units - again, you'll need to keep an eye on the mini-map and act accordingly when you see his units coming into the area

I find jhuziz fairly easy to beat (easier with any general that has combat helo support) as long as I stick to a few key methods ... use the mini-map as an early warning system of his incoming units - the mini-map is your friend! ;-) .... micro-manage, micro-manage, micro-manage your units (for GLA this includes picking up as many crates as possible after killing Jhuziz's vehicles) ... and don't build anything important near your HQ (while I will try to take out his scud storm - if I can - I usually don't worry too much about him hitting my base, he always targets my HQ so as long as I don't put much near the HQ it's easy to repair the HQ and rebuild cheap bldgs (eg, power, barracks) after the scud storm attack; obviously make sure you have enough power plants to insure your defensive positions don't lose power (which also means putting enough power plants far enough away from the HQ so that a scud storm attack doesn't cut power to your defenses)

First thing to mention before asking how to defeat General X:

Which general are you using?

I beat Juhziz fine with no problems. If you're playing Ironside, put an airfield with 4 x YF-23s somewhere to the left of the map, and guard it with something, like a bunch of Rangers or whatnot. Then put a Predator Drone or five on edges of your side of the canyon/river, so you can spot TOPOLs and shit on the other side of the map and YF-23 them to death. Buggies do crap damage. Scatter some Predator Drones around, so you can use them to quickly kill Predators. Do NOT move Predators around often, they get buggy'd and TOPOL'd a lot. Once you clear the bridge and it's beyond from demo traps, send in Colonel Burton, have him climb up the hill, and directly into Juhziz's base, C4 the SCUD to death (if you haven't already killed it with genpowers).

I will try your tactics and see what happens, thanks for your detailed reply smile.gif

Iam right now using in one stage GLA General Deathstrike and USA General Ironside on another stage. I'm sorry I have detailed it in the middle of the text and not before, will edit the post to add that. Thanks for your reply, I'm sure it would help. smile.gif

Deathstrike have a easy time with use of Hinds. In my case fake buildings and bombs aid to destroy the bikes, and you can easy level up if use the radar tank and Hinds for destroy the mines in middle map. For gen. Ironside the tactic with airfield and YF-23 really work to level up. If can use the helidrop. a pair of Mammoths tanks inside of the base really stop the tank production. In the case de Jhuziz the key is destroy the Palace with power´s, without artillery is one way battle, but remember air force for aid your tanks. Luck in your battles, beware with Trax, the real challenge of GLA.

Gen. Juhziz was always one of the hardest for me back in the day, but he actually has a fairly easy exploit - he never builds anti-air vehicles. When I played him as General Townes, all I had to do was crank out laser Commanches and they'd make quick work of any of anything he'd send my way.

Not aware if this is an AI bug only with Townes or not, but if not then the same could be said about any US General - or about Leang with her upgraded Black Sharks. Upgraded Helixes and Hinds would also work slightly less effectively. The other Generals (especially the GLA generals) would definitely have a harder time however.

That's the major problem with the AI in this game - while it's a big improvement over the standard ZH, it seems like many Challenge opponents have a single gaping AI hole which renders them completely powerless when you figure out how to exploit it. But great mod of course, I'm in awe of this.

A hint on the Scud Storms - it seems like Juhziz will fire in several preset locations, so once you've learned his firing patterns, you can position your base defenses outside of his firing area - also, you can sell buildings immediately before the Scud Storms hit to recoup some funds.

Sorry about reviving the post, its just it seemed like a good place because it was talking about him.

I'm playing as SWG against Jhuziz, He is the 5th general in my path to victory, and he always, always destroys me. Tank didn't produce enough tanks. Thrax is always easy for me, I crushed him. I had a hard time with Leang as her scripting didn't kick in until i was on the outskirts of her base, which sent me almost to restarting. Granger was easy cause he never has enough power (scripting needs updated so he will upgrade power plants) so I aurora rushed him. I can't do that with Jhuziz.

Here is what I've done in the past but isn't working for Jhuziz, he gets me at step 4.
Start
Build 2 more dozers
Build a Power plant and upgrade it
Build a barracks with the second dozer
Build a Supply center with the third dozer and buy a second Chinook (By the time I finish the supply center he sends 3 demo bikes and kills it)
With 2 dozers, build a firebase with 3 Missile defenders and 2 rangers with 2 EMP and 2 Popup Patriots along with 2 avengers behind each and have the full setup at each attack point.
Build War factory with the third dozer (The first and second dozers are on patrol on defenses)
Build a Strategy Center with the third dozer and create 8 Lockdown MLRSs
Build 2 Power plants with the third dozer and upgrade them
Build an Airfield with the third dozer and create 4 avengers
Build 4-6 Supply drop zones and create 6 humvees with 3 Missile defenders and 2 marines in each.
Oooooh Kill em.
actually, Jhuziz kills me. D:

Well I finally beat him, I kept sending out biohazard technicians (100 each biggrin.gif) for the demo bikes and set up the defenses above stated with only missile defenders inside and 4 avengers behind each, got an airfield and made the auroras(to take the TOPOL launchers). Ended up capturing the base with the fake command center and rushed him with buggies. Onto Nuke biggrin.gif

One of General Kwai's elite Emperor crewmen.

I'm probably at a disadvantage since I play as General Kwai (Tanks! Build more TANKS!)...

oh i beg to differ, when i try new mods i start on on easy mode, my favorite general being Granger, so naturally i played as him.... lots of anti-air coming from juhziz, lots...even on easy mode it took me a couple of tries plus a AFGuides video of the challenge to beat him, suggested ways of beating him: prepare to lose about 2 to 3 dozers in the beginning, build about 4 patriot missile systems clustered around each other ( i prefer 4 in a row ) in each corner of you base, so about 12 to 16 patriots total, build a airfield, buy about 4 Comanches and then purchase the stealth upgrade for them ( your gonna use them to take out buggies and topals, but watch that anti-air, you can also use them to take out demo traps), build 2 particle cannons and 2 to 4 supply drop zones, the particle cannons will be used to destroy his scud-storm, the drop zones are self explanatory, build aurora's and king stealth fighters ( aurora's to take out his palace and other vital buildings, stealth fighters to take out buggies, topals, stinger sites, etc) once you set up shop he's pretty easy... key reminders: build patriots, Comanches, power plants, drop zones, particle cannons, aurora's and stealth fighters

oh, especially remember.... to watch where you step

Are you playing on Hard? Because if yes, it means you defeated Dr. Thrax with Armor, which is way harder than it is to defeat Demo.
