Can missions be combined with fanfictions that are in cannon? If so i think i have some ideas. That's what most missions gonna be based on, the cannon fictions. -------------------- "He who heard is not like he who saw"

Great idea! My contribution based on my cannon fanfiction about Ukraine.
'Operation Victorious Dawn' Location: Crimean Peninsula Date: May 9, 2036 Time: Night Objective 01: Destroy the anti-aircraft defenses on the peninsula. Objective 02: Establish a base and build a Radar Station. Objective 03: Neutralizing the Ukrainian forces destroying their facilities. Mission Summary: You just started with Boris (machine gun); follow the coast of the Crimea destroying Kashtans and Grumbles that makes the anti-aerial defenses of the coast. After the completion of this phase of the mission VDVs and airborne troops of the Legion of Solidarity (Brow Berets) - not controllable - are inserted at strategic points on the map confronting the Ukrainian Resistance Forces and you will receive an Bulldozer escorted by a group of Conscripts, BMPs and Tunguskas overland to build a base, after building the Radar Station you will receive the reinforcement of 04 Hellions to attack and destroy the Ukrainian base that is promoting the siege of Sevastopol. For this mission you must only use the basic units of Russia. NOTE: it is possible that there is some kind of help from the ECA for Ukrainian forces. OBS: if the naval units of Russia were ready possibly occur a naval battle involving submarines and ships at sea. I was worried about it being quite similar to the vanilla campaign for the more or less lack of live action cutscene and the limit of ingame rendition, and everything seems pretty far separated, character driven stories are more interesting and brings a great deal of cohesion. in Red Alert we always have some recurring characters and Tanya who always appear in multiple missions. well, i do like the winter assault idea a lot. except i don't know any ways of switching sides, I'm guessing USA,ECA and China are in one cluster whereas Russia and GLA share another one?
Also, I look forward to see some non-cnc-traditional elements in the game. such as organizing a landing operation from one island to another, irregular tech trees which allows you only with fixed wing aircrafts and long range artilleries to provide fire support, limited time fortifying a position and defend it against multiple waves of enemies, multiple prototypes(for ECA), re-include cancelled units such as frogfoot in some mission and stuff Also I feel rather strongly against RA3's approach, outlining every details, even sometimes their objectives doesn't make sense, and abusing battlefield expansion, something like the fox and the hound is a perfect example of Auftragstaktik, giving the simple goal and your figure it out yourself, different approaches are allowed and plenty stuff on the map to mess with. Jarman Kell and the forty thieves is not that great but involving cooperation between two teams which is also interesting. Don't know what's your take on this matter. And there is this thing about an overdeveloped tech tree being divided into 3 generals in 2.0, and the appearance of certain units or GP might imply that certain general is involved, which might cause confusion on who is the player playing.(assume you are the same guy all along, which kinda gives the player a sense of the bigger picture) This post has been edited by Jam Hacker: 13 May 2014, 15:02 |

CobraHumvee made six great singleplayer missions that needs updating now when ECA is out. Operation Black Gold and Operation Shattered Defenses use UN Infantry and UN Humvees as stand-ins for ECA. I have tried to do the work myself but my modest WB script skills learned through reverse-engineering vanilla maps is insufficient. I suggest you talk to CobraHumvee to get permission to publish moddified versions of his maps.

Well, I think that my fanfiction about the Odin would sound great, but that would require making the actual unit...

Pain free (unless they aren't spawned as a team and are in a horde). If they spawn as a team, modify the team. Example: Spawn UNHumvee named *whatever the hell* at waypoint *ScrubCity* Change UNHumvee ----> ECASupplyTrack (or whatever it is called) -------------------- Your feeling of helplessness is your best friend, savage.

Perhaps we can give the player a low cooldown solaris strike? or somehow change the colour of the particle cannon? Not show the unit at all? Odin as I wrote it, is a support Protocol Unit, not having an actual weapon but serve as large detector and spotter, and with a "LED light attack" blind enemies when large reflector is pointed on them. Probably also the drones as their optic sensors are overwhelmed by the light, depends on what their optics are. But I was thinking of some kind of attack called "Gungnir", but a small solaris strike seemed not that interesting, more closer to the previous Odin which was scrapped as it was "too predictable". Another option was that either ability to call in airstrike or artillery strike (so that Odin acts as a real AWACS), or "Rod of Gods" strike, as ECA is pretty much ruling the orbital space. But maybe as Topol it requires money to launch the rod. Anyway, the problem is not so much the statistics of the Odin but rather its model and texture. Making a model for me... air planes are not my specialty, but I can achieve it, but than textures are beyond me. Once this is done than we can more talk about its abilities and traits... unless it may be a prop, as the fanfiction was about Odin escaping the secret base when VDV and Spetznas come, with ECA (player) having the goal of to defend the airfield and Odin for set period of time. That may be more viable. The mission would require some more made props like the hangar in the mountain, but that wont be than that big of a problem. From reading your fan-fic, I feel like the Odin's special ability would be best suited in the mission by disabling all Russian units in a vicinity for a brief period, allowing the ECA to gain the upper hand. You could use the ECA cargo plane as a stand-in until the model + textures are complete. There are plenty of hangar models in game already, that would be suited for stand-ins - again, I presume you'll want to make better models and stuff. |

I'm making a little campaign about Ramsgate, but seeing that there aren't any Challenger tanks yet in the game, could I use Leos as stand-ins?

Thought I am now thinking that it can give some buff to all nearby ECA units under it, to make it more the "support". The stand-in models would work for that, yeah. Until a better model is made there can be used the existing. -------------------- It is so true that its funny and sad at the same time. |

The impressive map "El Presidente Island" gives me plenty of mission possibilities. I'm only making some suggestions based on my playing style, and certain tweaks should be made such as removing the Tech Docks, changing starting positions and reducing the size of the sea.
A. Russian invasion of China/ECA aligned island. You will take control of a Russian airborne force landing on one side of the island (just say the east starting position). The goal is to remove all ECA/CHN influence and secure the industrial sector to provide fuel for Russian convoys. Starting units: 2 BMD-Mortar, 2 BMD-Spurt, 2 ZSU-23-4, 20 Conscripts, 10 VDV-PKM, 10 VDV-RPG. Starting GP: 1 star and not limited; Powers locked except Field Repair, Conscript Drop, VDV Drop and Reserve Drop. Objectives: 1. Secure the airport for reinforcements - Capture Tech Airport in the northeast and garrison 1-2 neighboring structures. 1 Construction Crane would be delivered after completion. 2. Breach the communication infrastructure - Destroy a Listening Outpost or Sensor Array placed next to one of the buildings with antennas. I always imagined them to be news stations or telecom services. 3. Destroy the local armory - Destroy every truck and tank in the armory north of the presidential mansion. They could be placed on the map de-piloted or active. 4. Destroy the government complex in 3 minutes - Destroy the mansion in the center and a few surrounding "buildings with antennas". 5. Destroy the rest of the communication infrastructure in 5 minutes before ECA/CHN reinforcement arrives - More Listening Outposts or Sensor Arrays to go, scattered over the city with more protection. 6. Secure the industrial sector - There will be an enemy Command Center among the oil refineries south of the mansion. Destroy it and try not to break too many industrial buildings. 7. Prevent the Chinese/British ambassador from escaping - Capture the Tech Airport in the southwest. Destroy a few Cargo Planes, gunships and T2 AAs guarding there. 8. Crush all remaining enemies - An enemy base complex is located on the west coast of the island. Destroy them all. Bonus Objective: For the Gasprom - For each Refinery captured, you will receive 1 Heroic Kodiak tank by air. Confiscate local materials - The government has built Supply Centers at the supply docks in the city. For each destroyed 1 LV1 VDV Drop will be activated near the Supply Dock. B. Chinese/ECA operation to reclaim the island. You will take control of a Chinese/ECA amphibious force landing on one side of the island (the west starting position). The goal is to remove Russian forces and rebuild your foothold. Starting units: 4 Dragon Tank, 2 Troop Crawler (with default pre-placed RGs), 10 RGs, 10 THs Or: 4 Pandur, 2 Sensor Array, 2 Leopards, 10 Felin Rifleman, 2 Engineer, 2 Grenadier Starting GP: 1 star and not limited; Nuke Loadout and Pandora Protocol banned. Objectives: 1. Establish a foothold on the Island - Capture the Repair Bay to the northwest. After completion, 5 Battlemasters / 3 Leopards will be delivered to starting position. There will also be captured Red Guards and Tank Hunters representing the government troops scattered around the map waiting to be freed. 2. Reclaim the armory - Clear the local army headquarters of Russian presence. Pilotless Battlemasters will be there for your infantry to enter. After completion, 5 Volunteer Squads and 5 Veteran Pyro/Grenadiers will be spawned at the armory. 3. Reclaim the presidential mansion - Clear Russian garrisoned buildings around the mansion, then garrison the mansion. After completion, 1 Dozer/Excavator and 5 Battlemasters / 3 Leopards will be delivered to starting position. 4. Reclaim two airports on the island - Capture the two Tech Airports on the Northeast and Southwest corners of the city. 5. Protect the re-establishment of communication network for 5 minutes - An allied AI will be paradropping 5 Listening Outposts at the positions mentioned above, after they are in position the Russians will rain Conscript Drop and VDV drop to destroy them. 6. Remove the Russian base - Enough said. Bonus Objective: Relief and local volunteers - For each Tech Hospital on map captured, 3 Volunteer Squads will spawn at the hospital. Stop the rationing - Russians have built Supply Centers at the supply docks in the city. For each destroyed 1 Volunteer Squad and 1 Pyro will be spawned near the Supply Dock. C. GLA uprising (to be continued) This post has been edited by teslashark: 14 May 2014, 22:20 -------------------- And then...

How's my idea of two (or three) alternative operations on the same map? I suppose you can picture the Russian one as Orlov taking over the botched Aleksander operation in the Chinese/ECA one. Or, the China/ECA one as Jin or Willem's effort to treat the after mass of the Russian one.

Protection of the European convoys against Russian attacks? Not CobraHumvee's Operation Scattered Defences if it was that one you meant. I mean the 5-player-on-a-straight-line multiplayer map in ROTR Map Pack. -------------------- |
