The 2040s IDF is very different to the one of Today. Strengths: Its units are incredibly durable, with firepower to boot. Structures are concrete and very dug in. To compensate for a lack in mobility, the IDF utilises massive imported Starlifters, themselves armed with weapons and basically flying tanks, to deploy their units to far-away combat zones. Their air force is designed to project their power beyond the borders of their fortifications, with the new and modified version of the F-16 as well as deadly gunship units. They operate Sayaret commandos to infiltrate enemy lines and destroy their forces, covertly. The Cyclops, albeit built on a stronger base, is also among the IDF weaponry. Some IDF units have the ability to deploy White phosphorus shells to target enemy infantry. Once the "Central Command Bunker" (Until I think of better name) is deployed, the IDF can peridically activate an emergency "War Act" ability which gives IDF units a massive firepower and armour buff, for an almost complete loss of mobility. However, the IDF can research an Upgrade- "Total War" which represents the Coalition Government giving the all-clear for the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in battle and Cluster bomb carpet bombings among other weapons. Weaknesses: The IDF lacks mobility, even their air units sacrifice mobility to operate as flying tanks. This can lead to a loss of map control and need to slowly reclaim the map. Every unit lost is a massive loss, given both their cost and the build times required to get the IDF's troops out on the field. Their infantry, vehicles and aircraft are all slow. The 'Total War' upgrade takes a significant amount of time to research and costs the Israeli economy lots. The "Emergency War Act" also leads to all units being rendered immobile, which can be deadly when up against enemy artillery. Special Note: Israeli power is only requred for defences, and as such, you can upgrade any main structure with a power generator. Command Bunker Blockhouse War Factory Air Field Central Command Fortress Cyclops Laser ' Edit: This will most likely be discontinued as Cheo Rock is developing his own IDF faction which will be an amalgamation of ideas. I like, but I don't find historically accurate. Israel has historically performed so well against the Arabs not because of strong defensive fortifications, but because of its air force, superior technology and training, superior intel & spec ops, its rapid mobilization capabilities, and equipment/intel support courtesy of Uncle Sam. The exception to this is the War of Attrition versus Egypt, but that wasn't a matter of Israeli doctrine as much as of geographical and political considerations.
At this point in time though, you might be right... more defensive. Though not defensive in the traditional sense, since no country in the region presents a credible threat to them, but anti-insurgency and anti-militant i.e. missile defense, clandestine ops, and raw firepower. |

I understand where you're coming from but I don't think you understand the situation. Israel has gone isolationist, built massive walls and minefields around the country. Tel Aviv was obliterated by a GLA missile strike, the IDF and Cabinet turned the country into a militarised police state. As such, they would be hard-hitting, dug in with massive tanks, on the ground and in the air. As well as liberal use of White phosphorus and nukes. Because they want revenge for the tragedy that gripped the Nation. They changed the colour of their flag for gods sake. As such, I've mashed my ideas with MARS' to create an IDF faction that is loyal to the lore. I also think this scenario is future-plausible, so I like it So is Israel done annexing the West Bank? Especially with the obliteration of Tel Aviv, the Arabic population should now far exceed the Jewish population unless there was some form of mass expulsions. Any internal threats the IDF has to address, or have the Arabs and Jews finally banded together against terrorism? Cheers! This post has been edited by stukaju87d3: 2 May 2015, 1:23 |

Any internal threats the IDF has to address, or have the Arabs and Jews finally banded together against terrorism? Cheers! Here is the official Israel canon Well, the thing is that it is not completely explained whether the whole of Tel Aviv was destroyed, I'd imagine some form of mass breeding program would have been initiated in Israel. Also the massive walls, concrete bunkers and minefields would probably have stopped the Palestinians. I'd imagine there was probably the heavy use of white Phosphorus and tactical nuclear weapons on GLA sympathisers and the Palestinians. Really, it all depends on whether Cheorock wants to use his own IDF faction or if he wants to collab with me on a new one. My ideas are mainly mine mixed with what MARS told me he envisioned about the IDF. -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2

CheoRock and I are collaborating on an IDF faction that focuses on armour, being dug in and raw firepower.
Expect to see signs of life soon. -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2

Aside from an airforce, how does this faction differ from the normal ECA?
