I'm probably asking this as the youngest, most ignorant, most inexperienced member here. Hell, i haven't even graduated yet.
Please do refrain from saying stuff like "ah, that explains why 99% of your posts on moddb make no sense at all". I know that already. How to 1. Develop a common sense 2. Develop a scientific mindset 3. Socialize??(i'm an introvert) 4. Do something significant(i'm talking chosen one level significance here) Anything else constructive is welcome. Anything like "underage n00b get rekt" (which ironically is what a typical underage n00b would say)isn't. Thanks in advance. This post has been edited by Jet02: 13 Feb 2017, 14:21 |

1. Start by deleting your other thread that is the exact same as this one. Developing "common sense" takes interaction with people and by simply doing things. It requires one to be observant and to then take intuition and simply have good listening and observation skills. Because common sense is a mixture of just basic knowledge in order to function and things a person has perceived and learned. This can be hard for some people because some folks have legitimate problems with that like ADHD or aspbergers or various forms of autism which can hinder that. 2. Scientific mindset? While there isn't anything wrong with that I'm a bit confused as to what you mean? Do you mean you wish to become more learned in science or apply the scientific method to your life? (Which is... very simplified of a view in my opinion, the whole scientific method isn't exactly applicable to everything) or do you mean you wish to abscond more spiritual feelings for a more fact driven perspective? (And I am going to clarify, there is nothing wrong with being spiritual necessarily. People believe what they will believe.) Well the only answer to that is you need to decide for yourself whats comfortable on that front. Your viewpoint comes from the combined factors of the culture you are raised in and your own experiences, whether you like it or not. The values you carry are influenced by these factors but in the end of the day the values you have are for you to determine, and its simple as that. 3. Simply talk to people. Be open to suggestions, but don't bend over backwards with ridiculous requests and just be wary of being exploited. Some of the best ways to socialize is just finding an activity to do or going to a job and just enjoying yourself with an activity with other people or working alongside them. Not everyone is good with words or social behaviour, but everyone has some sort of interests or hobbies. Search for groups that share the same interests as you- either online or offline. 4. "Chosen one significance" Let me repeat to you an ancient Chinese proverb, paraphrased. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Focus on what will get you ahead right now, and just do well at school. You want to impact things? Then hit hard with improving yourself and don't squander your time. People accomplish things if they take the initiative for it and build up to it- you aren't going to be handed opportunities to do great things unless you work towards it. And this is the exact same for every person whose ever lived, even the sons and daughters of kings, queens, dictators, rich folk or whomever; if someone lacks initiative even the rich, powerful and famous tend to not be remembered for much beyond them being rich and famous. You're gonna think big right now and that's fine and dandy- but you should focus on whats relevant to you right now, even if it is only to prepare for whatever long term goal you may set. You want purpose? You must make your own purpose, find it. Because I'll be frank, and this is just my opinion, but there is no inherent "purpose" for anyone or anything beyond what we make of it. You believe what you will, but if you're wanting to be some "chosen one" as you put it, whether you believe in (what I believe to be, fickle and silly) notions of "destiny" or "fate" then you must also realize that in order to realize said things you must work hard for your goals. A good way to start is just by improving yourself and finding things you enjoy, and pursuing your passions and go through it gradually. Well, I do have 1 advice. "Never lie". That's from my personal experience. Sometimes lying is useful. A better thing to learn is know when to lie, and know when it'll do more harm than good. -------------------- |
