I'm just honestly confused about it, given that half-tracks use their wheels to gain an manuveurbility edge over tracked vehicles, does the Atlas have reversed steering?
Or can the treads seperate from the main tank and transform into support hovertanks while the atlas moves on the wheels by itself? -------------------- |

I'm pretty sure, like most of the design decisions made by the EC team, they did it simply to be "unique".
