After doing a bit of work in the Faction, World and RTS Idea thread and talking to MARS about remaking Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn, I was wondering what sort of ideas people had about remaking or recontextualising Red Alert and Tiberian Dawn.
I'm aware there are similar threads, but I wanted to hear people's opinions on these two games in particular. Perhaps you think Yuri should have been an attempt by Kane to seizie the world, but he failed. Black Ops 9, which had been created in the First Confrontation with the Soviets, was then given more power, etc. etc. So what are your ideas? -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2

If you mean a modern day remake, I would say keep it similar to the tone of RA1. This is war after all. It was never meant to be nice. Make it dark and depressing, with the game hammering in just how much devastation the war has caused. Have each campaign play small snippets of news reports talking about the current situation before going to the briefing room with the officers. (e.g: Before a mission starts, there would be a news report saying "The Soviets marched into Berlin itself, destroying the German forces stationed there. Causalities are projected to be in the thousands as the former capital crumbles under the Red War Machine.")
Gameplay wise should be the same somewhat, with elements of new RTS games in it so your soldiers can garrison buildings, some units have a secondary ability (not all of them, only a select few) and spies can infiltrate the enemy base to steal credits or their technology. Soviets should be the ones with heavy firepower and armor, and the Allies are the ones who can do hit-and-run attacks. However, I would suggest giving the Allies a more powerful air force alongside their navy, with experimental unit designs that were scrapped in our timeline to be mass produced in this timeline. Give them stuff like the Horten Bomber, the Triebflugel to counteract the Soviet's ground forces. It's not fair if the Soviets get all the cool toys, is it? Also, give the Soviets their napalm technology back. It annoyed me that they just somehow forgot about it in 2 and 3. |

I think that honestly the Allies should take a more elite units vs Soviets mass numbers rather than Allies being hit and run, -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2
