A Blast Of Love
Pairing: FOAB/MOAB Warnings: death The bomb was itself a relic of the GLA war. An American plane had been going to drop it near Stuttgart, but the plane had been shot down by the GLA, and the bomb ended up in a toxic marsh. It had been recovered several years later, but at that point military cooperation between the US and Europe was nonexistent. So, instead of being returned, the Massive Ordnance Air Burst device (aka the Mother Of All Bombs) was placed in a German ammo dump. In 2048, the dump was captured by Russian forces. The Russians decided to make use of the dump, and began storing their own weapons their. Including, as it happened, a Fuel Ordnance Air Burst device. Also known as the Father Of All Bombs. When he saw her, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Anyone could admire her sleek design, but he could see her, the way only another bomb could. He saw her power, and he was in love. Fortunately for him, he was equipped with a small radio, and he sent out a burst, just enough to get her attention. She recognized it for what it was, and then she saw him. They were so much alike, two peas in a pod. Or, to be more accurate, two very powerful bombs in an ammo dump. He needed to be close to her. He strained against the straps holding him in place. But mere fabric could not hold back true love. He broke free, and rolled towards her. A sentry saw them, and his expression was one of pure horror. He turned to run, his mouth opening to scream, but he was too far away. The Father Of All Bombs rolled, and his warhead struck that of his great love, the Mother Of All Bombs. They both detonated, filling the air with volatile gases. As they did, their gases intermingled, and they knew each other’s souls, in a way few lovers ever do. Their igniters were unarmed, but that didn’t matter. The flame of passion between them was enough to ignite the gases, and their love magnified the explosion by several orders of magnitude. The resulting blast would wipe out much of Europe. The dust kicked up into the atmosphere blocked out the sunlight, resulting in crop failures worldwide. Had it not been for the Solaris satellites, the food shortage would probably have wiped out civilization as we know it. As it was, only the European Continental Alliance and Russian Federation were destroyed. The People’s Republic of China, the United States of America, and the Global Liberation Army would survive. Humanity would recover. Eventually. Well, it was all in the name of love. -------------------- The Sun Is Rising... |
