For those who don´t know. 9th of May is the Russian "Victory day" to celebrate the victory in the Great Patriotic War a.k.a World War 2.

To be entirely fair though, that is more or less the official term they generally use in Russia, so it's not something he made up to refer to it out of personal pompousness or anything. As far as leaderships go, that theatre was pretty much one nasty inhumane dictatorship versus another, so it it's no surprise that the nasty inhumane dictatorship that won went on to do some historical image polishing in the aftermath. |
