O Hai...

So I remade the Tomahawk of CnC Generals to RA3 quality, I might at some point actually skin it...

Posted by: E.V.E. Redux 7 Jun 2009, 3:25

Looking good so far, I especially like the Missile.

Keep it up. =o

Looks nice tongue.gif, keep up the good work.

Posted by: SgtRho 7 Jun 2009, 3:36

Thanks guys.

And, lol. Blue -> Purple -> Red. We followed the rainbow colors with our statuses while posting tongue.gif

Posted by: Comr4de 7 Jun 2009, 4:16

Nice and clean, I like it smile.gif

How may polygons is it packing?

Posted by: SgtRho 7 Jun 2009, 4:17

It has 1647, I could still optimise it tho, like 6 sided wheels, etc.

Posted by: The_Hunter 7 Jun 2009, 13:25

looks pretty neat like Eve said i specialy like the way the missile looks.

Posted by: SgtRho 7 Jun 2009, 17:01

Thanks 'yall smile.gif

Oh, btw, here's the texture I used for the exhaust on the missile:

Feel free to use it.

Posted by: Stinger 7 Jun 2009, 17:56

High[er] poly models of Generals units always perk my interest and this one is no exception.

Would like to see it skinned. smile.gif

Posted by: SgtRho 7 Jun 2009, 21:08

I also have the Paladin *gg*

I'll skin the tomahawk If I ever decide to use it.

Posted by: DerKrieger 7 Jun 2009, 22:07

Wow, that's some nice work on those models there!

Posted by: Mylo 7 Jun 2009, 22:12

Awesome! ZH-Remakes with more polies are always interesting. Nice

Posted by: IPS 7 Jun 2009, 23:44

fat barrel! hell yea^^

Posted by: SgtRho 7 Jun 2009, 23:47

It's identically thick as the original one, but it has 8 sides, wich seems to make it look fater.

Posted by: SgtRho 9 Jun 2009, 3:20

THAT is what an Allied MBT has to look like tongue.gif

Looks great, but would look even better with a texture. *Nudge*

As for the Mammoth MK II, its legs do not look sufficient to support the weight of its body. Given that you've said it is a WIP it may be too early to make comments like, that but I thought I'd give my two pennies' worth. tongue.gif

Posted by: ka1000 10 Jun 2009, 21:17

how many times have you actually modelled that thing tongue.gif

Posted by: SgtRho 10 Jun 2009, 21:31

Uhm....yeah, do I have to answer that question? tongue.gif

Posted by: SgtRho 14 Jun 2009, 7:22

Working on its texture.

Posted by: ka1000 15 Jun 2009, 0:33

are you actually gonna use this one?

Posted by: SgtRho 15 Jun 2009, 1:11

Yesh.

Posted by: silence 15 Jun 2009, 15:56

I thought it was a civilian structure, but i like it, hmm are those other units also your models?

Posted by: Crazykenny 15 Jun 2009, 17:13

Yes they are his, been watching this mod for quite some time now.

Posted by: SgtRho 15 Jun 2009, 20:57

Yeah, pretty much everything in the mod is done by me ATM.

Although Anubis did give me a few sketches.

Posted by: partyzanPaulZy 15 Jun 2009, 21:20

Pretty nice units, Disruptor Tank, Wolverin, Titan, Hover MLRS, APC and Mammy II behind them, right?

with this is exception for the GDI.

This will be a Mobile fortress once it's finished, with 4 vulcan turrets, 5 Jackhammer artilleries, and 4 anti ground missile launcher, as well as 2 AA launchers. Virtually invulnerable to ground attacks, but rather vulnerable to airstrikes.

Hmm...If it was real, it would probably be named "Heavy Main Battle Walker" or "Schwerer Hauptkampf Laufpanzer" tongue.gif

And I got something new, a remade firestorm wall for GDI.

Posted by: KamuiK 27 Jul 2009, 14:06

IIRM the firestormwall was blue, not? Nice nontheless.

Posted by: SgtRho 27 Jul 2009, 15:57

A new sig for me, done with a render of the "Ravager Terradyne" from GCII

Posted by: Pickysaurus 9 Aug 2009, 18:41

Nice sig, but it seems you forgot to clear up the spatter around the edges

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 9 Aug 2009, 19:39

the splatter is kinda intentional wink.gif

Posted by: IPS 10 Aug 2009, 0:29

the good old gc, still the most beautiful rts ever
nice sig, but I'd personally prefer to remove the dots

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 10 Aug 2009, 1:37

It gives it that kind of "Bust' up" feeling wink.gif

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 4 Sep 2009, 20:17

Something I'm working on right now...a "Starliner" Civillian transport.

Posted by: Pickysaurus 5 Sep 2009, 2:59

That is very cool ^.^
I have so many ships I have designed in my head, just no ability to make them into renders

Posted by: NergiZed 5 Sep 2009, 6:10

Awesome Airship.

That's gonna gonna take a while to texture though. Though I do see places where you can just reuse the same texture, and it's symmetrical.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Sep 2009, 16:45

Starship, not air ship:P And I actually see little problem in texturing it, as it has a very simple base shape.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 16 Dec 2009, 20:15

Something not-so-new, but I am polishing it up a bit more.

Posted by: Gen.Kenobi 16 Dec 2009, 22:58

Overlord remake:

Posted by: The_Hunter 12 Aug 2014, 16:53

Turret seems a little small by comparrison don't you think ?

also are you going for a remake of the classic one or the new one from the cancled game ?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 12 Aug 2014, 17:00

Yeah, it is a little small, I haven't done any real work on the turret yet.

I'm going for a remake of the classical one, with a little bit of Emperor in it, also with a more realistic look. Since China is basically Russia in Generals, I've used Russian tanks as inspiration.

Did some work on the turret, decided to give it two 182mm ETC guns.

I think I'll make the "roots" of the cannon as big as the bore evacuators.

Edit: Added a 35mm gatling cannon for all your crowdmowing needs:

Edit 2:

This is where I'll leave it at for today:

Hubba-hubba-hubba! That's some sweet ride you made there!

Posted by: IPS 17 Aug 2014, 10:19

nice job there : )
i like the little gatlling gun biggrin.gif

Posted by: MARS 17 Aug 2014, 12:26

That's a very interesting pseudo-realistic take on the Overlord, I like it a lot. The turret has a nice and compact look to it, like it's actually unmanned and operated from within the chassis. The only thing that strikes me as slightly odd is the guns. Perhaps you could try making them about one muzzle length shorter and move that stabiliser 'lumb' a bit further forward, thus making the turret/gun mount area look a bit less busy.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 17 Aug 2014, 15:09

Not sure what you mean by stabiliser lump? The thing on the root of the cannon, or just after that? That'd be the bore evacuator, it's usually near the breech, since it's there to vent the propellant gases out the barrel.

I went with enormous cannons for artistic reasons, to bring out the "I AM BIG" factor.

Posted by: Oliver 17 Aug 2014, 15:58

I agree, just a tiny little shorter guns would be better.. Kinda want to see this thing skinned tongue.gif

*Deep, slow voice* Siege Tank

http://i.imgur.com/Rhxdo6T.jpg

Posted by: Svea Rike 20 Aug 2014, 18:56

That cannon tilts at a relatively low angle. I'd imagine a proper siege assault vehicle would be able to tilt their cannon nearly 90 degrees because some fortifications might be at a higher elevation than other. Nice model though!

Posted by: Oliver 20 Aug 2014, 19:11

What is the project though?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 20 Aug 2014, 19:11

Due to the magnetic booster, it can fire from far enough away to fire at things at a higher elevation, and it can tilt further up, as the entire cannon mechanism is inside of the elevation system.

As for the project, you'll see soon enough.

QUOTE
Type 390 'Trebuchet' Siege Tank

The Type 390 Trebuchet was developed for the second attempt at recapturing Epsilon Eridani e/Tierados, the first human colony to declare independence from Earth in 2280 after the first invasion failed due to the heavy fortifications present on Tierados. Cities and other important areas on Tierados are protected by large shield generators capable of intercepting any projectile or vehicle attempting to break through. The only way to bring these shields down is by bombarding them until they overload, and the Trebuchet is built to do exactly that.

It's designed for high endurance, as such it's powered by two redundant microfusion reactors and has a built-in smelter to produce ammunition if needed. It's protected by heavy ceramic-graphene composite armor, with interior graphene spalling blankets as well as an active defense system capable of intercepting even small to medium caliber railgun rounds.

Its armament consists of a single hybrid cannon that functions like a regular 150mm electrothermal-chemical cannon while mobile, and transforms into a chemically assisted railgun when it deploys into siege mode. It also has a twin 40mm autocannon turret on the top, and two non-nuclear shield-breaking missiles.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 21 Aug 2014, 0:25

The tank will most likely not appear in any game or mod, at least for now, It might appear in a short story or MAYBE a game in the far future, same for the Overlord. But the KA-52 will.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 21 Aug 2014, 11:31

I know, that's why I said it will most likely not appear anywhere. I did word it poorly though, I was saying that the siege tank might appear somewhere, not the O'lord.

Very sexy. Will this be an RTS game?

Posted by: __CrUsHeR 26 Aug 2014, 11:24

Another great model. smile.gif

The main weapon would be a railgun?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 26 Aug 2014, 14:56

Of what ship? tongue.gif

The Battlecruiser has a single heavy multi-role missile launcher in the front that can fire at everything, 4 hypersonic Anti-Ship Missile (ASM) launchers, a VLS that fires subsonic ASMs and maybe ballistic ASMs, as well as 4 5" gun turrets, and has 4 Sea-RAMs for defensive purposes. The gun turrets can be upgraded to railguns. The hypersonic ASMs might be an upgrade to ASMs like the Harpoon instead of the standard weaponry, that's yet to be determined.

The Destroyer is armed with 4 Subsonic ASM batteries, an 8" gun turret that can be upgraded to a railgun, or later on replaced by a particle cannon, while th ASM launchers can be upgraded to a sort of naval grenade battery like the ones seen in Battleship. It also has 2 Sea-RAM turrets and a single VLS firing short range missiles at aircraft and ships.

And yes, it's going to be an RTS.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 27 Aug 2014, 9:54

Early early work on the Destroyer:

http://i.imgur.com/9Xr4gR0.jpg

Posted by: Oliver 27 Aug 2014, 12:54

What is up with the stripes?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 27 Aug 2014, 12:58

On the sides? That's splinter camo. I mostly did a little bit of work on the destroyer to see if my PC would now handle a 2048x4096 PSD without lagging like hell. The SSD seems to have alleviated it somehow, since I can now work on them with plenty of layers which previously would have caused the PC to slow down drastically.

Posted by: Svea Rike 27 Aug 2014, 14:03

Yeah, but, it doesn't make sense on a warship. At sea, everyone can see a huge ship without obstructions. Camouflage, especially visual, would be useless unless it's just for show. Or one of those striped zebra-camouflages the Brits had in WW2.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 27 Aug 2014, 14:31

It is just for show in this case. I couldn't use proper camo patterns in a game anyway, without confusing people.

There Are ships with similar camo paintings though:

Posted by: Oliver 27 Aug 2014, 16:11

Yh nvm, i saw in the previous pages one ship with that similar pattern, which actually looks nice..

One question , i dont know what this game is so i dont know what it supports, but, will you make an aircraft carrier?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 27 Aug 2014, 17:03

Yes, a carrier is planned. Three of them, in fact. If you dilate the definition of "carrier" a bit, most ships are. Naval helos can land on every ship that has a Helipad. But there will be three different true carriers.

Almost forgot to show this one:

It'll be a Corvette, designed to annoy the enemy.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 28 Aug 2014, 22:43

Some more progress on the destroyer:

http://i.imgur.com/dTuSH8Q.jpg

Posted by: IPS 3 Sep 2014, 10:17

Camouflage itself is fine, but the way you painted those lightning like lines on the front seems very weird.
I would suggest a more blocky camouflage like you see on the pictures you've posted.
Model is cool though ; )

Posted by: Svea Rike 3 Sep 2014, 12:25

That corvette... Is it based on the Visby?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 3 Sep 2014, 13:05

It's basically a visby with more weaponry.

Posted by: Oliver 6 Sep 2014, 20:32

http://i.imgur.com/udX0QOl.jpg

96 40mm cannons on 24 turrets, 20 8" cannons on 10 turrets, and 16 18" guns on 4 turrets as well as a (not yet modeled) VLS and 2 helipads. Additionally, 4 flare launchers and 8 SeaRAMs. Powered by two Sodium-Potassium cooled TOKAMAK reactors driving 4 water jets through steam turbines and 2 electrically. about 320 meters long and a little over 100 meters wide.

Posted by: MARS 12 Oct 2014, 7:21

That looks crazy-awesome. I really do like your futuristic military designs. They have a good balance between being stylistically distinct and videogamey on the one hand and technically believable within whatever setting they may belong in on the other. I'm really curious as to what you might end up using these for and what kinda factions it would have.

This is the Leviathan. The ship class that makes Battleships look like RHIBs:

http://i.imgur.com/udX0QOl.jpg

96 40mm cannons on 24 turrets, 20 8" cannons on 10 turrets, and 16 18" guns on 4 turrets as well as a (not yet modeled) VLS and 2 helipads. Additionally, 4 flare launchers and 8 SeaRAMs. Powered by two Sodium-Potassium cooled TOKAMAK reactors driving 4 water jets through steam turbines and 2 electrically. about 320 meters long and a little over 100 meters wide.

Only misses a fixed-mount gigantic wave force cannon. tongue.gif

Thanks guys!

All these ships are for a Naval RTS game. I'm going to properly announce it when we have some gameplay to show off. As of right now, only one faction is planned, with a possible second one after the first one is completed.

Small interplanetary cargo hauler, I'll make a dropship variant later.

http://i.imgur.com/TzBWgbN.jpg

Posted by: Svea Rike 5 Nov 2014, 16:17

Cool and all but if there's interplanetary travel involved what's the point of making a small cargo hauler? There's nothing limiting size in space so just make it as big as a freaking skyscraper and you've got yourself a damn good transport.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 16:30

That's a common misconception. The heavier your ship, the more expensive it is to build, the more fuel it needs, and usually accelerates more slowly. While large freighters exist - for instance, those carrying Helium 3 from Uranus to the inner solar system - they are usually purpose-configured for their intended trips. Those large freighters also can't *land* on planets. They normally also use Hohmann transfer orbits, taking months to travel between Earth and Mars...while this thing takes a week to get there due to its Brachistochrone flight path that consists of firing the engines continuously for the entire trip in such a way that your top speed peaks shortly after the half-way point of your trip.

So these small haulers are mostly used for urgent and courier deliveries, passenger flights, and as shuttles between the surface and orbit. Interstellar ships, specially colony ships, drag one or two of these around as well, since they can shuttle between the surface and orbit several times without refueling, and can just land next to a river or other large body of water, or skim through a gas giant, to gather propellant for its fusion torch engines.

Another thing this shuttle allows is delivering perishable goods, like fresh fruits or meat from industrialized planets to colonies that don't have the kind of carrying capacity needed to produce either yet.

Very interesting. What is the hull composition? I assume some strong material due to the need to travel through the atmosphere at great intervals would cause quite some damage to the hull. I always assumed that the bigger the ship, the bigger the engines you can build thus eliminating the slow acceleration process. Do these ships have artificial gravity?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 17:48

Sort of. It's possible to rotate the ship, producing a small amount of gravity. About 0.15g at 2.3 rpm, which is half mars gravity. It's not exactly optimal, but it is better than no gravity. It's possible to tether 2 of these together, producing Earth gravity without becoming the Vomit Comet 2.0.

The heat shield is made of a lightweight ceramic material that covers the entire craft's surface except for the magnetic nozzle extension of the combined cycle fusion rocket. The air frame itself is partially made of composite materials, and parts that may be exposed to reentry plasma are made of a titanium super-alloy. The windows are made of three layers, the outer layer is sapphire glass, while the inner layer is made of lead glass with a polymer layer in between, while the hull of the pressure vessel of the crew section is a sandwich of titanium, polyethylene, water, polyethylene and again titanium. The water tanks in the middle of that sandwich add radiation shielding and serve as fresh water tanks, with the waste water tank being behind the crew section.

Additionally, lead shutters can be deployed over the windows if it has to fly through high radiation zones, like Jupiter's radiation belts.

You can build big ships with big engines, but that's going to require more fuel. Square-cube law is a bitch, even when you're using fusion engines with their absurdly high specific impulse values. If you build a bigger ship, you need more fuel and bigger engines to get the same acceleration values, which requires you to carry even more fuel, since you have to not only accelerate the heavier ship, but all the extra fuel as well.

Dropship variant:
http://i.imgur.com/aJn4ypM.jpg

Has 12 heavy guided missiles, 2 retractable auto cannons in reentry-hardened pods in the wings, as well as enhanced sensors, and a pulse laser in a sapphire cupola under the nose.

Centrifugal gravity, right? Interesting, but I do wonder do these small craft really need to be manned? Aren't they more effective as remote-controlled/unmanned drones?

Oh, I thought something like graphene would be a suitable material since it's lightweight, nigh-indestructible and asuming this takes place in the future would be relatively easy to mass-produce. But I don't know jack shit about your universe so I could be mistaken. This is one of the gripes I have with futuristic settings: it always have to look futuristic yet recognizable, otherwise it would just be a mess for us.

It can fly unmanned, like any self-respecting spacecraft should. But usually it's flown by freelancers, kind of like Serenity, flying all sorts of stuff around. It only has to spin on longer trips though, on a flight from Earth to Mars or Earth to Venus, it's constantly accelerating along its axis, providing the illusion of gravity as well.

Graphene is used for a number of things - such as the heat shield of the fusion engine's magnetic nozzle extension, as well as electronics. But it's far more economical to use metals and ceramics for the hull.

How in-depth is your universe already? Or are you just making this up as you answer to my questions?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 20:06

Very in-depth. I already had most of this in my mind, but actually came up with some of the details answering your questions.

Posted by: Svea Rike 5 Nov 2014, 20:22

Well I would really like to read about it. Nothing that spoils the game of course, but maybe some background lore?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 20:34

Atm, I have no plans for any games within this universe. Short stories and random designs that pop into my mind is what I created this universe for. I have a few others though. The Siege Tank I showed earlier belongs to this universe.

Posted by: Svea Rike 5 Nov 2014, 20:42

But you said those ships were for a game. Different universe? But anyway, is there anywhere I can read about it?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 20:46

Oh, sorry, miss-understood you. The ships are for a game, there is no real story for it yet. It is a very different universe than the hauler and drop ship though.

Posted by: Oliver 5 Nov 2014, 20:57

The game being that one for the unity engine? Rogue republic?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 21:09

No, the ships aren't for Rogue Republic, they're for a different game.

I think I can consider this one done now:

^ I'm with ComradeCrimson, but now the quantity, more like the quality of the details that you put on these.

Posted by: Svea Rike 5 Nov 2014, 22:12

Very nice ship but I take that I can't read about it somewhere?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 5 Nov 2014, 22:21

Haven't actually come up with a description for it yet, only role and weaponry.

It's an air defense-cruiser, armed with 2 88 mm auto-cannon turrets that can be upgraded to Rail guns, 4 SeaPATRIOT launchers, a Vertical Launch System, and 6 SeaRAM stations. It also has a helipad that can rearm and refuel naval helicopters. It's also loaded with electronic warfare systems, allowing it to mess with the enemy radar, primarily producing phantom images on the enemy radar, and it can relay targeting information to other ships, kind of like the Sniper in CnC3 can relay targeting information to Juggernaughts.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 6 Nov 2014, 20:19

Here's another variant of the cargo hauler: A gas harvester. Basically, it's used to harvest Helium 3 from ice giants (gas giants about the size of Neptune or Uranus)

http://i.imgur.com/Vk6paOa.jpg

The added ram intake on top collects the ambient air the craft is flying through, which is then transported down into a miniaturized gas refinery, that separates out the Helium 3 from everything else and stores it in liquid form. Hydrogen is pumped into another section of the refining equipment, where Deuterium is extracted and stored the same way the Helium 3 is, and if the fuel tanks aren't full, some Hydrogen is also stored. Everything else is discarded.

The third plane is in fact based on a stealth F-14 proposal, the F-14 itself, the F/A-18 Super Hornet, and the F-22.

And yeah, the Chinese F-35 ripoff inspired it.

Posted by: Barry 13 Nov 2014, 14:37

I think Chinese would go to the end in ripping it off if they were able to replicate engine, but they are still unable to make functional jet engine, hence this flying contraption uses Russian ones.

Now that looks sweet. What's that big gap on the front of the turret for? Viewport? Do future tanks really need that?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 21 Dec 2014, 14:26

Electrical systems can fail, since the tank is built for survivability, it's built so that it doesn't depend on electronics to function. While the ETC cannon usually requires a lot of power, the tank also carries a smaller number of regular shells should the electrics fail, for example if the engine is knocked out. The commander's periscope also combines a regular mirror periscope with electronics. It also has hand cranks for turning the turret if needed.

Posted by: Svea Rike 21 Dec 2014, 19:10

So... it is a viewport?

Posted by: Svea Rike 7 Sep 2015, 22:27

Not that I can think of. When I say generic, I mean the pointy edges, the wings and the techno-looking stuff in general. Give me some organic spaceships any time. That's why I loved the Combine from HL2 and the Scrin.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 7 Sep 2015, 22:31

Ah, ok. That wouldn't fit the idea of a high tech drone army we have planned for the Ravagers.

Posted by: Kommandant Karisse 8 Sep 2015, 3:59

Whoa, that's a cool-looking ship o.o; Does it fly?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 8 Sep 2015, 8:20

In space, yes, but not on Planets, where it acts as a pretty normal Ship: http://i.imgur.com/xWrIHWm.jpg

Posted by: TimeBurner 8 Sep 2015, 11:14

It looks like an orca to me.maybe make those flippers point in one direction and more wider wing at the front?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 8 Sep 2015, 12:20

The wide wings in the middle are actually slammed under water when it moves, and will (once implemented) lift the craft slightly out of the water. I don't want to add wider wings at the front, to maintain the Ram-kind of shape.

I thought I'd post some of the things I've been working on...

First something I'm already done with:
http://i.imgur.com/5WZTgeU.jpg

And then stuff I'm actually working on now. First the Infiltrator Corvette, will be used to capture enemy ships.
http://i.imgur.com/hWbbvya.jpg

Then a Defense Installation, can be upgraded with a variety of weapons, here shown with Mjolnir missile launchers.
http://i.imgur.com/yhCiTKI.jpg

And the communications drone, this will be used by the Command Ship to capture islands with.

Keep the good stuff coming, Sarge Rho smile.gif

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 20 Oct 2015, 13:08

Thanks biggrin.gif

I'm not sure if I even should share this one yet, but anyways. We're going to have special skins, for kickstarter backers, and also a set that'll only be available to myself and the rest of the team. The skins are purely cosmetic, and have no effect on the gameplay. Except maybe make the enemy reluctant to shoot because they're too pretty to blow up? tongue.gif
This here is one of the dev skins, the TDN 'Hell Pigs' Squadron.

Procrastinating like a bawz. I'm avoiding the Flagship like the plague atm, because it'll cause horrifying amounts of lag in photoshop when I try to texture it, so that has to wait for my PC upgrade next week. In the meantime, I textured and implemented the Space Shuttle I showed a while ago XD

This is actually something totally new for me. I have never textured a concrete structure before.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 6 Nov 2015, 1:07

Why does concrete have to be such an annoying material to texture? It's so boring! XD

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 9 Nov 2015, 14:20

This one's bound to be one of the most dangerous TDN Warships. The Helicopter Cruiser. It's basically a cruiser-sized helicarrier, with light armament, but can carry 5 Wyvern Gunships, and Wyvern Gunships are A320-sized flying death-machines. Or 5 of any large VTOL, for that matter. I can already imagine a few hilarious tactics with this by carrying Constructors...

Posted by: Svea Rike 9 Nov 2015, 15:13

Noice! Can I ask? Will there bo some form of story for this game, and more importantly; how much will it cost?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 9 Nov 2015, 15:30

Thanks

We want to do 25 story missions + several support missions, but we only "need" 12 to tell the story. So, how long the campaign will be will depend on the outcome of the kickstarter that we're going to launch some time in january-february-march. The missions are segmented into theaters of war, each having 3-4 missions, and a bunch of side-missions, that make the main missions easier in some way.

It'll most likely go for 25$.

Posted by: SiR Chaff 9 Nov 2015, 16:20

Dammit Rho, you've done it again biggrin.gif

Posted by: {Lads}RikerZZZ 10 Nov 2015, 22:02

The mini-carrier looks Amazing, but im not too much of a fan of the building.
Its the road part out the front that just looks out of place.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 10 Nov 2015, 22:03

Yeah, I'm going to remove the road. I'm not even sure what I was thinking when I added it, in hindsight xD

Edit: Road-be-gone!

Edit #2: Fixed the material, and colors, of the mjolnir base.

I'm working on another TDN ship, the Missile Battlecruiser:

http://i.imgur.com/D401SB8.jpg

It's armed with 10 Mjolnir hypersonic missiles, 4 Naginata supersonic missiles and a buttload of SLAM-Hornet surface-surface/surface-ground missiles. It's basically the naval RTS equivalent of a Tomahawk or SCUD Launcher.

_A year ago, we first discovered the signal. A low, rumbling radio noise, coming from the direction the ancient Earth supposedly lays. And it was rapidly coming closer, like, 30%-of-the-speed-of-light rapidly.
It’s a starship, using a magnetic sail to slow down, and they were really slamming on the brakes. Everyone was looking forward to their arrival, everyone thought it’s our distant brethren from the ancient Earth we left so many centuries ago.

We were wrong. So terribly, terribly wrong.

These were no humans, they might have come here from Earth, or they might come from some star between Earth and us. One thing is for sure. They do not want us here. They didn’t even try to make contact, started shooting before even settling into orbit. Most of our sats above are already gone, and now they’re dropping...something onto this planet.

We dreamt of meeting the people from which we came, instead we found ourselves involved in a damned interstellar war. One we can’t win, at least not here. The evacuation order has been given. By tomorrow, we’re on our way back to Tenorra.

Y'know, embedding Sketchfab models in the forum would be rather cool. But I can't do that, so I'll have to use my 1337 Haxx0r skillz to find a work around. So, click the picture to view the model on Sketchfab tongue.gif

Posted by: The_Hunter 4 Apr 2016, 17:51

model looks pretty solid.

I assume its still work in progress ?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 4 Apr 2016, 18:00

It's mostly done, actually. There are a few things I might still do, adding some more markings, as well doing some more detailing, particularly on the turret. And of course, the track wheels. I think I'm going to do a high poly bake for the wheels, as texturing that by hand is a bit tedious. I don't think I'll be texturing the underside of the tank, since it would never be seen ingame.

I also realized just now that I screwed up the APS projectors in the back of the turret, I need to move those up. Also fix the AO errors on the MG sub turret.

So, only minor things are left to do. I am going for an RTS-level of detail with the model.

Edit: And if we do ground combat in Ardent Seas, it'll probably go there, in which case I'll have to remove the camouflage, and create a mask map.

Posted by: The_Hunter 4 Apr 2016, 18:03

Well if that's the case i would say the model is a bit blank.

You got all your basics covered but i think some more interesting details would be at the order of the day.
Stuff like little vision slits, rivets, hatches and handles ect.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 4 Apr 2016, 18:17

Rivets, steps/handles, and markings, are what I had in mind. I won't add any more vision slits, since the tank already has plenty of periscopes and optics. I need to do a hatch for the driver, and more hatch-y stuff on the commander-gunner's hatch.

I've done some more stuff, including rivets and extra surface detail.

https://sketchfab.com/models/b2c7fc8bd5964fb5a51eef9c390313fe

Posted by: Oliver 4 Apr 2016, 20:53

Those wheels of the treads could be better though... But the rest of the tank is pretty nice.

Posted by: The_Hunter 4 Apr 2016, 23:08

Thats indeed better but i personally feel that there is still a lot of open blank spaces that could be given more love.

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 6 Apr 2016, 18:53

I've done some more work on it, and put it ingame to see how it'd look.

For that purpose, I've removed the camouflage pattern, and created a camo mask to match every other unit in the game.

€: I'm also going to post that screenshot on IndieDB, alongside the latest update, some time tomorrow probably.

Working on 3 ships at once right now, the Coalition Navy's cruisers.

The Amphibious Assault cruiser in front is built for attacking reinforced islands. The Air Defense Cruiser in the middle is built to shred aircraft via makross missile massacre, and the gun laden ship in the back is the War Cruiser, a heavy brawler.

Like Skit said, really looks good.. By chance are those missile launchers at the front?

Posted by: Sargeant Rho 25 May 2016, 10:39

Those are indeed missile launchers, not particularly powerful ones, but enough to clear a beach if need be.

Working on a campaign unit, the Stratocruiser. Basically, a large, flying warship that can into space. Built out of a space freighter.
