BBC NEWS
QUOTE The pilot of a plane which crashed into an office block in Austin, Texas left a note expressing his anger at federal tax authorities, police say. Police are linking the apparent suicide note left online to Joseph Andrew Stack, the man named as the pilot. The note criticised the Internal Revenue Service - based inside the office block and declared: "Violence is the only answer". Firefighters continue to search for one person who is still unaccounted for. The single-engined Piper Cherokee airplane hit the second floor of the seven-storey building at 0956 local time (1556GMT). It had taken off from nearby Georgetown airport in Texas, and did not file a flight plan, Lynn Lunsford of the Federal Aviation Administration said. Smoke billowing from the building Twisted metal and debris seemed to be the only thing left on some floors Heather Wills, from Austin, told the BBC that she was driving past when she saw the huge cloud of black smoke. "As I got nearer I could see flames leaping out of the building - the flames were two storeys high. I could hear the glass windows shattering from the heat. "My first thought was that it was a fire. The traffic was backed up all along the freeway." Around 190 IRS employees work in the office complex and some were forced to climb out of windows after the plane burst into flames. Two people were taken to hospital, but it is not clear if they were seriously injured. There has been no official statement on the status of the pilot. Police are also investigating whether Mr Stack set fire to his house before crashing the plane. The message on the website apparently registered to and signed by Mr Stack speaks of having problems with the IRS. "Well, Mr Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well," the note reads. Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said there was no cause for concern and assured residents that it was an isolated incident. The White House said the crash did not appear to be an act of terrorism. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said President Barack Obama had been briefed about the incident. The Department of Homeland Security was investigating the crash, he added. As a precaution, the North American Aerospace Defense Command scrambled two F-16 fighter jets from Houston, Texas, to patrol the area. The Game Version. This is one extreme way of taking violence at the tax office. I can only feel sorry for the man as he would of lost everything and to take his own life to send a message to the tax office. |

I would make a 'Houston, we have a problem' joke but I don't think it's appropriate...man, that's quite a shocking way to deliver a message...

If he was that stupid, he didn't need to stay with us any longer. Shame he had to ruin so many people's day though.

The news is calling this "domestic terrorism". I hope this is not just the first, but also the last case of it I see in my life time. I think this is an isolated incident, and I hope there will be nothing more of this sort. We have other ways of solving our problems besides violence. This man was stupid, and most likely insane.

'Violence is the answer'?
He must be crazy. At least he didn't crash into the capitol building... What's the fatality count, Centric? This post has been edited by ComeOn225: 20 Feb 2010, 12:02 -------------------- Hello, comrades.
Before I start, I must ask one question: how do you think battles are won? If you answered "It just take a lot of men", then I may suggest you to leave the academy. Why will I say that? It is because battles are not won just by simply shooting down your enemies: it also takes emotions to fight a battle. Hope, courage, pride, honor, love: these are the main emotions that it takes to win a battle. Yes, your equipment, your skills, and your genetics are very important, but it all boils down to one thing: Do you have the WILL to fight? Class is dismissed. WARNING: Watching this may result in losing your manliness. Yep: I'm a rusty sword. VERY rusty. :/ |

This man was stupid, and most likely insane. Have you ever worked? Have you ever had your hard earned wages ripped out of your hands over and over? Read the PDF nip posted and you will see he was lead to this. Edit: Obviously im not justifying him attacking a building full of innocent people, he was driven to this insanity through years of the IRS fucking him over.
