Post your listening setups, gears, speakers or headphones.
What kind of sound do you like? I current have not much high-end stuff, maybe save for the limited edition Audio-Technicas that I loved. I personally enjoy fast, detailed, and neutral sound and with some good treble. And also waiting to buy a HA5000 headphone amp clone, at 10% of the originals price (yes, I am cheap. ) Source: ASUS Xonar Essence ST (3 x LME49720HA Metal Cans) Amp: ASUS Xonar Essence ST internal amp, waiting for a real one Headphones: Audio Technica AD-1000 PRM, AKG K701, Ultimate Ears TF10Pro for my iPod Touch 3G. Didn't spend that much on it, bought half the stuff when its on sale but I really enjoy it. Total damage done (est.): £600 D; This post has been edited by ΓΛPΤΘΓ: 27 Jan 2010, 1:50 -------------------- [Sources] ASUS Essence ST, iPod Touch 64GB [Amplifiers] DIY HA5000, iBasso D2+ Boa [Headphones] Audio Technica ATH-AD1000PRM, Ultimate Ears TF10 Pro |

two large speakers, an ancient sony amplifier (this thing is hardcore ) all connected to my PC. i prefer mild bass with slightly more elevated treble and overall muffled hall atmosphere (whatever that may be in actual audio-connoisseur terms).
for Ipod i have simple sennheiser headphones (mid-low priced, not the cheapest as they sound shit). total damage done: all second hand and occasion stuff so yeah, that's not going to be more than € 30. -------------------- P |

I just use my laptop speakers I don't consider myself an audiophile in the slightest, but that has GOT to change. Even the cheapest 20 pound speaker setup should sound so much better than the tinny speakers most laptops have. Heck my phone's speaker is almost as good (though mono) as my laptops. |

Im using the 8-way onboard sound on the mobo. I have a creative 2.1 system which very old now and i do not use it. I mostly use my sonic gear headphones which is good enough for me.....

I also had a pair of Audioengine A2 powered speakers, currently I'm using the Edifier S330D 2.1 speakers. Decent enough, missing dem Audioengines though ;_; Superfi5 -------------------- [Sources] CARAT HD-1, Sony E445, Cowon S9 [Amplifiers] PA2V2, Corda XXS, Corda Arietta [Headphones] Audio Technica ATH-AD900, Beyer DT250-80, Head-Direct RE0, Soundmagic PL50, Koss PortaPro http://www.last.fm/user/warisz00r JOIN SWR FORUMS LAST.FM GROUP |

The K701 arrived this morning, it paired very well with the Essence internal amp surprisingly, where the AD1000PRM sounds totally wrong out of it. K701 is a really amazing headphone, does pretty much everything right. It is just not as airy as the AD1000PRM and maybe not as fast (that is debatable). This and the AD1000PRM is certainly a keep, until I run in money problems.

Wait till you get a proper desktop amp. You'll love the 701 so much you'll ditch the other phones.

Wait till you get a proper desktop amp. You'll love the 701 so much you'll ditch the other phones. TBH, I didn't swap the 701 blind, I have listen both phone out of a Luxman P1 and god know how many Littledots in Hong Kong and preferred the AD1000PRM by a large margin. In terms of unamping, I think I am unamping the AD1000PRM more than the K701. Having heard W5000, SA5000I prefer AD1000PRM to them, not by much but perfer both W5000 and SA5000 over the K701 too. But their price is too high to have both a AD1000PRM and SA5000 or W5000 at the same time. Now selling the K701... even I thought its a keeper... AD1000PRM just do 90% of everything better than the K701, K701 is slight more detailed, but AD1000PRM is far faster, K701 is more neutral but AD1000PRM is far more fun to listen to. K701 have more bass, but AD1000PRM got a better impact. K701 is less comfortable. It kinda reminds me why I chosen the AD1000PRM in Hong Kong.
