Airfields from all factions are meant to be like, Forward Operating Bases for airfields right?
That they're designed to be easily constructed, low maintenance, not take too much personnel to man, are designed to be compact which is why each airfield can only deploy 4 jets at a time since they're FOBS, right? Correct me if I'm wrong -------------------- Sleeping off the restlessness

Don't get me wrong, but this is just a game... The reason the airfields in zh/rotr have 4/3/2 slots varies from gameplay, gamestyle of faction, and space construction.

It's probably just for gameplay.

It's probably just for gameplay. well yeah I know it's a game and what not I just remember reading on Moddb about someone asking about this and just wanted to clarify And I think the whole lore thing regarding ROTR in general is pretty cool, even the tiniest detail -------------------- Sleeping off the restlessness

If you want, you can imagine the big powers' airfields using electric launchers, just like aircraft carriers do, to push their planes off the ground.

I actually already did lmao and it has some type of arresting gear to stop them even though you have some hotshot raptor pilot thinking it'd be cool to land across both runways sometimes -------------------- Sleeping off the restlessness

Anything you see in-game is meant to be an abstraction. That said, I imagine that the buildable airfields are sort of like carrier-decks turned into ground structures, so there would be some kind of launch/landing assistance built into the runway to allow for smaller airfields. An actual air force base in the setting would still look very much like a real one though.
