Program won't open after launching Options

Hey guys,

I've been playing Generals ZH and also your shockwave mod like 2 years ago and felt like i had to come back and play it again once in a while.
Now, since 2 years ago, i naturally changed my system from windows 7 to windows 10, just saying. I don't think this will be the major problem.

So i installed ZH (via my old installation-discs), which worked perfectly fine. Although, as i tried to open the Generals ZH .exe afterwards, it just won't open the process and nothing happens. I've always tried to open it as an administrator, so the solution probably won't be that simple

Well, nevertheless i have run the SW-installer then. (Which also worked perfectly fine)
I can open the SW launcher, but if i click "launch" once again, just nothing happens and no process is being opened..

I'm really desperate at the moment and hope you guys could give me some attemps to a solution

Edit: I changed from windows 7 to windows 10, not to windows 8 actually.

After I enabled the service. I make new install of Zero Hour and the game start.

Thanks alot, I think you at least clearified what the issue for my problem is.
But unfortunally i am using Windows 10 and not Windows 8 (like I accidentally told in the initial post) so it won't really help me..

There's no way for me to get the game work via these old discs I guess then, right?
Could you guys tell me any place where I can get the data for Generals digitally for free? (and if possible no insecure crack)

There is no way of doing so other than using a cd-crack i'm afraid.
