SWR Productions Forum _ Games Discussion _ Faction, World and RTS Game ideas

In terms of a game, I believe that factions are an important part of the setting and story. Especially those that are unique.
Examples include:
ROTR's five factions: USA (Generalist), GLA (Subversive), China (Spammer/Horde), Russia (Powerhouse) and E.C.A (Cannon/Turtler)

The Paradox Mod: Allies (Generalist/Air Force), Soviets (Powerhouse), Empire (More elitist- bit hard to pin down), Confederate Revolutionaries (Subversives- good guy GLA.), Order of the Talon (Elitist/Powerhouse/quality), the Mediterranean syndicate (Cannon/Ranger), the Atomic Kingdom of China (more defensive in approach) and the Electrical Protectorate (Spammer).

I love unique factions and I wanted to create a thread where people could post their own faction designs in any universe they want.

They could be Post Apocalyptic Bandits, Cybernetic Purists, Dinosaurs, Alternate Dimension fascist super-maniacs with super tanks.

Any setting can be used

I guess the idea is it is a sort of shout box for random game ideas and factions etc.

One idea that's been on my mind for quite some time, as a sort of creative thought exercise, would be a game about a renewed Korean war, set in a 2020s or 30s timeframe with modern day weaponry, but a bit of a futuristic twist to allow for some creativity and use of artistic licence. The gameplay would be most reminiscent of Company of Heroes, albeit on a somewhat larger scale. In short, the factions would be North Korea, with a sizeable but largely outdated army that has to rely on swarm tactics, indiscriminate firepower and a bit of guerilla tactics (essentially combining elements of ROTR's China and GLA), South Korea, which would be a defensive focused steamroller (imagine like the ECA but instead of high-tech protocol units, you get Russia-style steamrolling power towards the end), an American-led coalition force of Pacific nations (including units from Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines) which would be the generalist faction with a bit of an air force focus and a faction of Chinese special forces, who would play against type by -not- being a horde army and instead engage in guerilla/mobility tactics with advanced weaponry, the idea being that they initially support NK covertly, but later turn against them, all while trying to keep their own involvement as subtle and low-key as possible in order not to escalate the war whilst still protecting their own interests.

PS: Since this is a game design topic, I will move it to the Games Discussion smile.gif

Thanks Mars
Great idea.
Certainly South Korea and North Korea are great ideas.
A few suggestions:
Perhaps the Pacific Force can be a revitalised ANZUS+ Japan
The MBT could be an Abrams Tanks (US and Australia utilise this) along with a mix of Japanese, American and ANZ vehicles
In terms of China, they could start with a covert force, before deploying a highly flexible expeditionary (I know they're just across the Border) force equipped with regular weapons.

That's quite what I imagined. The Chinese faction would be the most 'lightweight', if you will, perhaps to the point of only using a few buildings which could pack up and redeploy elsewhere either as trucks or helicopters. They would rely heavily on infantry, but whereas NK would use them to swarm, China would have well trained weapon specialists operating like paratroopers or special forces behind enemy lines. As the game goes on, they would also receive support from highly mobile and lightly armoured vehicles. It'd be interesting to set them up as a faction that doesn't drive home its victory by overrunning the opposing base with a tide of heavy tanks but rather, decimate, conscrict and overwhelm the defenders methodically, then simply walk in with some elite operators, mob up what's left, and demolish the place. One of their subfactions would represent a more brute force approach, and could still culminate in the deployment of a small heavy armour force, so that we could still have the obligatory ZTZ tanks in there.

For the Pacific faction, it might also be interesting to consider a non-tier based tech progression where instead of unlocking whole tiers of units via a building, you would be able to purchase access to 'collections' of units in whichever order you prefer/can afford, the idea being that you 'activate' different contingents from your allies. I think RA3 Paradox had something similar for North Vietnam, except that each purchase unlocked the tech to one particular new unit. Instead, each of thesewould give you access to multiple types of units that are thematically related that you can then build. For example, activating a light motorised contingent from the Philippines once would then allow you to build Philippine Marines to bolster your infantry (if we presume that this faction would otherwise tend towards higher cost units) and armoured gun trucks that serve as transports and carry several .50 cals, adding mobile firepower and numbers to your selection. Activating a more expensive JSDF mechanized force would give you advanced Type 10 tanks and MCV tank destroyers for the late game, and so on. You would be able to buy these unlocks in whichever order you like, allowing for unconventional tactics, like trying to get the heavy/expensive units as early as possible while having to make do with a very limited selection until then, or playing slowly, then attacking across the entire spectrum once your whole roster is unlocked.

Yes Mars your idea is great
With the pacific
You could have:
Phillipines Marines (as you suggested)
JSDF (As you suggested)
ANZAC (Special Forces and a more mechanised/light infantry approach given Australia and New Zealand have few (if any in NZ's case) battle tanks)
and of course the US

Disregard my previous post, I realised you covered it all

Another idea I had would take place in 2015/16 and diverge from the events of the late 1980's in which to a degree the USSR won the War in Afghanistan and the Union collapsed in 1995, instead of 1991/2. This meant that the U.S faced a far stronger Iraqi Army in Operation Desert Storm, leading to the formation of Basilisk, a NATO task force with a centralised command structure and multinational corps. They would operate many modern weapon systems such as the Panzerhaubiter, Leopard, Fennek, M270, Puma, Abrams and Euro-Tiger along with experimental weapons such as the F-35 and Elefant 2 Plasma tank hunter. As such they are a faction with heavier equipment that focuses more on brute force than technological advancements and speed. Their builder would be a Dachs 2, a modified version of the original Dachs engineering vehicle. Their buildings would be built from the ground up and take a while to build.

Basilisk would be facing off against Echelon, a secretive cabal of forces mixing PMCs, Cyberterrorism and the military-industrial complex. Echelon's units would be flexible, fast and long ranged, able to quickly and effectively deliver strikes or hack and disable enemy bases. They could also hire local military forces to combat Basilisk, allowing for more direct combat forces to protect their weaker units. Their arsenal would include a cheaper version of the Armata MBT, the O-4, a cannibalised version of the PL-01, the South African Super Hind and G-60 artillery piece. Their buildings, which are prefabricated, are deployed by a helicopter. They simply requisition the building and a helicopter flies to the command centre, which then allows you to deploy the building anywhere on the map.

In Terms of Factions this would most likely make:
NK (Spammer/Subversive)
SK (Cannon/Powerhouse/Turtle)
China (Is sort of a mix but would be a bit of an Elitist, meets Ranger/Technical wit a little bit of subversive thrown in)
Pacific Expeditionary Force (I took a few liberties with the name- Brute meets Specialist and elements of many playstyles so I'm just gonna say Generalist)

I had an idea for a faction. It is more fantasy-inspired than military sci-fi or contemporary, but that's how I roll baby.

This faction - let's call them the Natives - would use a combination of guerilla and stealth tactics, and would work together in harmony with nature to win. You see, they have totems that can connect with the nature gods and aid them in battle. These totems are constructed out of icons, with different icons having different effects on the enemy. Combining icons into one totem can have a multitude of effects. Their units would consist of archers, swordsmen, but also assassins, shamans that could command animals, and even priestesses that would use these totems and give them to individual units. Their base would be constructed in the trees and be stealthed at all times, and their units could also move quickly through the tree canopies.

The Natives' "vehicles" would actually be armored war beasts that follow commands of a shaman. You don't control the beasts directly but rather tell the shaman what to do with them. If your shaman dies, the beasts would run amock and kill everything before fleeing, and you'd have to recruit more beasts for your army. Eventually, if they have the entire forest under their control, they would contact the nature gods which would be their superweapon. The nature gods rain down hellfire on the enemy, with lightning storms, fire tornadoes and all kinds of chaotic weather. Don't mess with the Natives.

In order to combat them you would have to take down their strength; the forest. Cut down trees, burn down swathes of land and just impose your industrial empire on their land. Eventually, the Natives will run out of beasts to command, their totems will become weaker and the nature gods will abandon them. Then all you have to do is bring down the last trees and kill their leader.

Well that's my idea of a faction, basically. I have a lot of ideas about different factions, for example another idea I have is based on an alien aristocracy, where species with more telepathic abilities control the majority, and their way of conquering others would be through claiming their land and imposing taxes.

Hey Svea, welcome to the thread, I hope we can make use of your writing talent.

The enemy could be an Industrial sort of Fascist Oligarchy mix thingy...
They could have armies of gas mask mooks as infantry supplemented by heavy vehicles.
They could have the idea of an arms race, while the Natives dominate early on, the Empire arms up.
They could bring in Shells of factories which players then choose what type of factory they want it to be: heavy arms, robotics (Clockwork) etc. They could have massive slow moving factories that consume trees and generate resources for you to command. As you gain resources you build a sprawling Industrial city that is producing all manner of weapons. Eventually armed with various flame, chemical and conventional weapons you can bring down your enemy.

Hmm, yes, interesting.

So this faction, let us call them the Aliens, need a new place to live, and what better place than this forest untouched by their hands. The Aliens are the exact opposite to the Natives; they focus on making themselves seen and heard and are not shy to show off their power. These factions would have a morality system (the Natives lose morality if their trees are destroyed) and one of the Aliens' ways of conquering is to completely demoralize their enemy. They can build imposing statues and industrial facilities to demoralize their enemies.

Now this Alien aristocracy has units divided into classes. The lowest class, those unable to think properly on their own, need to be commanded by someone from the middle class, a slave driver shall we say. They work like the Natives' beasts. The middle class would be more traditional units armed with weapons and drones that would combat the Natives directly. The upper class, those with telepathic abilities, would be three commanders commanding everybody. If they are killed, then the Aliens' entire army falls apart, so it is crucial they are protected at all costs.

Unlike the Natives, the Aliens need resources to fuel their conquests. Primarily they cut down trees to get minerals from the ground below, but they also need breeders. These breeders are located in special pods, and are the ones that allow you to muster up your army with lower class drones, because the lower class will make up the bulk of your army. If they are killed, not only will your morale drop but your supply of soldiers will deplete. They also need power which they extract from herding in beasts and killing them.

The Alien aristocracy also combine in some city management gameplay since they are trying to find a new place to live, which amps up the difficulty. But instead of individual buildings they use one single structure they build all their things on. Abodes, resource processors, slaughterhouse power plants, breeding pods, and upper-class headquarters for the telepathic caste. Building structures costs nothing, but you need to divert your manpower - which you primarily use to breed new soldiers - to build them, which diminishes your army. Eventually they complete their home and can contact their mothership, which would be there superweapon. The mothership arrives and burns the entire forest with one strike, allowing them to claim all resources instantly and the Natives' die.

The way the Natives' can defeat the aliens is to use underhanded tactics and go straight for the head; the three upper class aliens. If one upper classer dies he can eventually be replaced with someone from the middle class, so you need to strike them down at the same time. Another way to cut them off is to prevent them from gathering resources; take all their resources near their home away from them some way I haven't figured out yet. You could also mount a direct attack on them but that would be suicidal.

So that's the Alien aristocracy. Oh and I also said they would defeat their enemy though imposing taxes but I couldn't really figure that out in a clever way.

I had actually been writing some stuff down about that faction for quite some time and your suggestions didn't really fit in. But now I'm thinking of a genocidal empire of robots that could use some of that, hmm...

Oh I see
You mean use some of H.Y.D.R.A's ideas
feel free to post any criticism of it here, I was more using it to get an idea of designing a general.
Also feel free to post any ideas about my Basilisk vs Echelon idea.

I've been thinking about a "OP" faction that had a overcomplicated supply line in comparison to others, so you'd have to keep one eye on your base at all times, rewarding people capable of multitasking between his supply line and army while punishing those who get caught up in one or the other.

Sounds good
What sort of units would they have?

Posted by: Serialkillerwhale 21 Apr 2015, 0:27

Well, it's all based on setting. I mean, my original take was that they was semi-fantasy oriented in that it was a rough fantasy-equivalent to the Knights Templar, who had to follow certain codes of conduct (Ie Chivalry) have their units be "Blessed" after being trained and pray every once in a while or whatnot, but had extremely durable armor, warhorses, zealotry, and overall superior forces to other factions.

A sci-fi race of Scary Dogmatic Aliens would work as well, although it's a rather tired and over-done archetype, or a modern military that had to deal with noncombatants while their enemies could hide amongst them, and send crippled soldiers to a hospital while their opposites left them to die.

I guess some sort of slow powerhouse dictatorship would work as well.

Possibly. Maybe a mechanic where your economy has a risk of trying to rebel against you, meaning you have to post some troops around them, like a more complex risk-heavy version of the Slave Miner.

Yeh, you could need to keep your people in line and use different methods including propaganda, escapist fiction, surveillance etc. otherwise they would rebel. You'd have heavy tanks, massive land battleships etc. Running along the lines of the Order of Nations faction from End of Nations.

How do I edit the BB Code to resize it, as when I tried the images simply didn't resize.

Another idea I had was a battle between a One-World Government- the Directorate and a global resistance

THe Directorate would generally rely more on elite units, and brute force/firepower and armour. They would have a large amount of units designed to crush enemies.
While the Resistance or Remnant focus on stealthy tactics, psychological warfare and sheer numbers.

There would be three subfactions for each:

Directorate (Silvers, grays, blacks, with some slick blue, dark green is house colour):
Armour Command (What it says on the tin) 8Isov.gif
Ballistics and Advanced Weapons (Combining satellite, atmospheric and powerful weapons) crush8.gif
Black Section (Special Forces, precision operations and chemical weapons.) 8llaniflip.gif

Remnant (browns, tans and red is house colour):
Partisans (Strong supply lines, mobile barracks, focused on infantry warfare) gun8.gif
Liberation Army (More defensive- similar to doomsday preppers and Militia's, these guys dig in and then push back) ani8(1).gif
Chaos Cell (Anarchists and extremists, the chaos cells focus on actions including cyber attacks, hijacking orbital lasers, chemical weapons, suicide bombs.) demo8.gif

The Directorate is not an endorsement of Illuminati, EU, United Nations or military-industrial complex conspiracies. Rather it is a combination of a political movement stemming from a mix between Neoconservatism, Socialism and other ideologies with elements of the Military Industrial Complex, humanitarians, people of position in National and Supranational bodies and others, who, slowly, were building up a military which overthrew national governments. They are brutal and uncompromising, but the world situation has molded them into such a force. They are building up a massive military, industrialising and unleashing austerity upon much of the world, regardless of wealth, class or religion but also expanding medicine and aid to much of the destroyed areas of the world, clamping down on corruption and ensuring the middle class is not destroyed.

The resistance are a combination of a cross-section of various insurgencies, terrorist groups and national movements. The Partisans represent the common man, who has risen up to fight, as such their arsenal is full of makeshift weapons and protest equipment. The Liberation Army is a mix of militias and former national militaries, they bring the big guns and can dig in and hunker down or can choose to go on the offensive, but cannot quickly change between the two. The third, the Chaos Cells, are extremists who indulge in chaos and destruction. They are those who are disenfranchised with the Directorate and society in general, all of their infantry can plant explosives, and many of their vehicles can suicide, their buildings can be rigged to explode.

(Please note: this is in no way intended to cause discrimination or misconstrue the truth, if you believe I have used the wrong words to describe a group let me know, however remember: One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. These groups are also simply inspiration and a real-life reference for those reading this. I do not endorse anything these groups do and simply wanted to provide references to give people an idea of each faction.)
For example:
Partisans- examples of real-life counterparts would be the Eastern European partisans and many of the popular protest groups who overthrew dictators in the late 20th and early 21st century.
Liberation Army- various militia's world wide as well as groups such as the Free Syrian Army, who are army regulars fighting for an insurgency.
Chaos Cells: Various anarchist and anti-establishment groups in the world who seek nothing more than destruction.

Armoured Corps: A conventional Armoured Division+ Artillery and support vehicles- streamlined into a more counter-insurgency tactics.
Experimental weapons: A militarised DARPA basically.
Black Section: CIA Black Ops, various secret police forces, chemical warfare corps.

Subfactions:

Directorate: (Dark Green is house colour. Many units have sleek blue visors, their armour is a mix of chrome, silver and dark grey. With some obsidian/shiny black)
Armour Command- I envisioned these guys to be more focused on Armour in all forms. Early on they would have advanced APCs, support vehicles, a strong but slow MBT and an IFV. As they teched up they would be able to access heavy and superheavy vehicles. One of which would be a huge anti-tank/building plasma tank. THeir focus would be on having large, self-sufficient armour convoys out in the field with support from artillery. However their aircraft are limited to a transport helicopter, a long range bomber, and a siege gunship. Infantry function more in support of the mechanised units.

Advanced weapons- Advanced Weapons is more of a focus on cannon units supported by powerful off-map strikes and aircraft that can travel through the atmosphere. They operate quick a few 'offensive' defences (in other words ones that have offensive capabilities). They would mainly utilise units that operate from out of range of their opponents. Their combat units would be able to outrange their enemies. Their aircraft would mainly focus on a hypersonic fighter/bomber and several helicopter variants.

Black Section- These guys are the off-the-record section. They make lots of use of precision weapons and they have no subfaction specific area of effect equipment. Their artillery is a sniper tank that can fire through multiple infantry and do heavy damage to vehicles and buildings but requires line of sight. Their infantry can be stealthed with nano cloaks. They also have an excellent anti-vehicle unit armed with a laser cannon. The final piece in the Black Section arsenal is the chemical weapons they have. They can deploy neutron and gas weapons to wipe out Remnant enemies.

Remnant: (Red is the house colour. Their units have various shades of brown and tan, blakc clothes sometimes, most Partisan infantry wear civilian clothing)
Partisan- These guys I wanted to make really reliant on fluid supply lines, like many resistance movements. While all three resistance subfactions have a mother truck that resources are dropped off at, Remnant workers are on ATVs, allowing them to quickly move around and for players to fluidly change tactics. they focus a lot on infantry and lack any aircraft. However, Partisan units can cover the Air really well, through hidden anti-air trucks that can creep around the map (like Urals). Partisan infantry are extremely specialised, with demolition, engineers (Physics and Engineering graduates), protesters (similar to an angry mob) and many other support units. THey also benefit from protest vans, which buff their firepower. THey are supported by makeshift vehicles such as battle-buses and armoured cars.

Liberation Army- The subfaction that either digs in or goes on the offence, but can't do both. The Liberation Army can choose one of two strategies: Breakthrough or Entrenchment, however neither one can be utilised at the same time. In Breakthrough, vehicles have a speed boast and more aggressive tactics are rewarded, as well as this a group of breakthrough-style units are unlocked. Contrarily.. Entrenchment allows infantry to build foxholes, unlocks more defences and restricts a large number of more mobile units such as the BTR. The Grizzly (A mix between the T-82 and T-90) can also dig in.

Chaos Cell- The crazy ass motherfuckers... these guys have an arsenal of stolen and destructive weapons. The central idea of this faction is that they are lawless, while the Partisans aim to reduce the amount of civilian casualties and the Liberation Army makes use of conventional weapons, the Chaos cells care little. They can wire their and neutral buildings with explosives, meaning Directorate special forces could meet an untimately end. They lay IEDs out and use sniping tactics. Many of their units are designed for one time use or for niche tactics. The end game is that they have cyber warfare that can cripple Directorate capabilities. In a final act the Cell can call in a hijacked Directorate Sat Strike, deploy chemical weapons trucks and unleash a dirty nuke in the enemies base.

the Directorate controls:
- Western Europe
- Australia and New Zealand
- USA and Canada
- China+Korea and Japan
- Most of India and Pakistan
- Holy land
- South Africa and its surrounding countries
- Chile and Argentina
- Egypt
- Iceland and Greenland

the Remnant-
- Indonesia+Burma+Thailand (Chaos Cell)
- Most of central asia (partisans + Liberation Army)
- Iran/Iraq (Chaos Cell + Partisans)
- Mexico (contested- Partisans control the countryside while the Directorate controls the cities)
- Eastern Europe (Liberation Army + Chaos Cell + Partisans)
- South America (Brazil Chaos Cell rest of SA Partisans+ Liberation Army

Note: The Partisans are active in many Directorate-controlled areas

QUOTE (Adoge @ 21 Apr 2015, 18:03) *
Another idea I had was a battle between a One-World Government- the Directorate and a global resistance

THe Directorate would generally rely more on elite units, and brute force/firepower and armour. They would have a large amount of units designed to crush enemies.
While the Resistance or Remnant focus on stealthy tactics, psychological warfare and sheer numbers.

There would be three subfactions for each:

Directorate (Silvers, grays, blacks, with some slick blue, dark green is house colour):
Armour Command (What it says on the tin)
Ballistics and Advanced Weapons (Combining satellite, atmospheric and powerful weapons)
Black Section (Special Forces, precision operations and chemical weapons.)

Remnant (browns, tans and red is house colour):
Partisans (Strong supply lines, mobile barracks, focused on infantry warfare)
Liberation Army (More defensive- similar to doomsday preppers and Militia's, these guys dig in and then push back)
Chaos Cell (Anarchists and extremists, the chaos cells focus on all sorts of actions including cyber attacks, hijacking orbital lasers, chemical weapons, suicide bombs.)

A note regarding this...

Some more ideas I had:
(Note: these are rough and I'm really tired also they may not be that balanced.)
I envisioned Directorate as very focused on slow units with heavy armour and damage. Their economy and military power takes a while to build up. However their air force is rather potent when targeting ground forces but given the scarcity of remnant air force, they have no interceptors. Special Forces formulate as more of a support role, however their presence is more increased in the black section. support vehicles are few, excluding the construction and repair vehicles.

Subfactions:

Directorate: (Dark Green is house colour. Many units have sleek blue visors, their armour is a mix of chrome, silver and dark grey. With some obsidian/shiny black)

I had another idea

Edit (removed idea): I won't let this area just stagnate with my ideas and nobody else's, so until there are other ideas posted i doubt I'll be posting anything new.

Posted by: Serialkillerwhale 23 Apr 2015, 5:26

hmm, I'd advertise my CEF Project over at the ROTR Theatre of War. It's a faction focused on "Base Crawling" where you use tanks as mobile turrets and slowly take over the map before ending it.

Posted by: Adoge 23 Apr 2015, 7:06

Just to add to that...
Feel free to post fan factions in here for ROTR as well
But your designs can come from anywhere.
Personally my two ideas just cam from stuff i scribbled down on a notepad during the day and then brought together.

Posted by: Adoge 23 Apr 2015, 8:02

looking at an idea I wrote down today.

A second depression sets in in America, causing crime to blow out exponentially.
THis leads the U.S Government to create a powerful militarised anti-crime agency, GLADIUS.
GLADIUS is a heavily armed anti-crime army designed to be deployed across the United States.
In California San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego have become one long strip (Sort of like Boston, DC and NYC or Brisbane, the Gold Coast and logan) and crime is growing exponentially.
Essentially it would be an RTS where there are three gangs who are trying to take over the 'Strip'.
GLADIUS would be a computer controlled opponent and the aim would be to liberate districts and conquer areas.
The three gangs would be:
A Drug syndicate- these guys can utilise combat drugs in the field and have access to various mutants created from the experimental drugs they use and from the sewers where they drop a lot of their drugs.
The New World Army- Anti Globalists and stuff, these guys would focus more on a horde and subversive mentality with bombs, riots etc.
The Patriots- Libertarians and Patriots, the Patriots are a sort of cannon force with a lot of makeshift vehicles and weapons.
GLADIUS- Darker colours- thee guys use tanks, gunships, riot gear and even drones to eliminate all enemies.

Just some shit I jotted down the other day:

Politics matters little to most people... the voter is often so incompetent and incomprehensible... who the hell gave them the choice anyway.

Managed democracy is the way to go... we the elite are here to ensure life goes on as normal,

The banks, the military-industrial complex, the think tanks, the PMCs, the corporations, the security agencies, our New World America is one of promise and prosperity, one of security and order, one of supply and demand, we the New Order, are here to usher in a new age of prosperity and order to fallen America.

We created New America for us, the true people, one purpose, Order and Security.

****

It all happened so fast, the Wall Street collapse, the Riots, Martial Law, New America.

I remember when I was once young and idealistic, believing things would get better. No, instead New America watches us with Cameras on the street, blimps in the air, they watch us through the TV screens, their jackbooted feet stomp across our streets, their drones strike from above, unseen, undetected. Their ads cover the street, on every corner, their 'Committees' oversee the functioning of our 'great state'. This is New America, this is what our forefathers fought not to become. The Boulevards of Los Angeles, raked in barbed wire, the neon signs of times square sell us the things that make America great. The streets of Seattle hang thick with tear gas and the smell of blood. The rush of adrenaline I once got from playing ball, now i can only find in the hurling of a Molotov.

This is New America.

Edit: This is a more dark, serious setting than my previous one (mentioned above) and a completely different universe i will ad more to this later but it is already too late. The idea is of a struggle between New America, a fusion of Corporations, Banks, Think tanks, PMCs, Corporations, Mass Media and Government agencies and the Network (Libertarians, conspiracy theorists, anarchists, College students, former army soldiers, veterans etc.) over the future of America. It is the Second American Revolution.

Note This is simply a bit of fun, this isn't aimed at forcing down NWO bullshit or being pro-Alex Jones or anything, rather I thought a second American revolution would be an interesting idea.

Posted by: Adoge 24 Apr 2015, 1:30

New America is a complicated conglomerate of Neo-conservatism, neo-liberalism, fascism, syndicalism and communisnm.

Almost an impossible combination of political ideologies, New America exists as a point of interest on any map.

Committees drawn from Think Tanks and civil servants moderate every aspect of life from civil defence to water allocation to rations. The mass media reports stories of terrorist attacks in Detroit, Seattle and Houston combining this with out-spoken opinion pieces and shows designed at eliminating the influence of the Network. The government is a massive conglomerate of such. A mix of civil servants and corporations that owns a monopoly on every product from toothpaste to bottled water. PMCs and Agencies have been morphed into a massive security apparatus. The NSA is a an all-encompassing agency that watches every facet of the people. The military has been sidelined and morphed with the national guard into a "New American Defence Force"- designed only to defend America and act s as a reserve force. SOCOM, along with elements of the US Military was morphed with PMCs into a new force "Overwatch", designed as an internal military, this was created following an attempt by the Libertarian Governor of Texas to call up the National Guard and create a Republic of Texas.

The President has been replaced by a Council, the Federal Reserve rakes in Billions in taxes and drugs have been outlawed punishable by death. Symbolism of the Founding Fathers is used a lot, and monuments have been built to them in every city.

Massive Metal blimps with thousands of cameras hover over every major city, watching the populace. Drones watch over and strike dissidents, while some fly around watching over people's homes.

The Overwatch oversees and commands every agency within the administration. They are tasked with destroying all opposition.

All Guns are outlawed, only security forces are authorised to carry it. Drug abuser are arrested and sent for slave labour.

Posted by: Adoge 24 Apr 2015, 5:16

The Overwatch:
A mixture of PMCs, special forces, black operators and former soldiers fused into a second army. The regular US Military has become the NADF (New American Defence Force), a second force designed solely for defence against foreign intervention. The Overwatch is designed to fight rebellions, incursions and other actions by subversives. The Overwatch and the NSA operate as the major forces of the Council and New America. They either oversee or have infiltrated every other organisation in the New American Government. In the aftermath of the Second Depression, as the Council was cementing its power, Texas Governor and Libertarian John Walker led a rebellion, calling up the National Guard, laid off soldiers, militias and protestors, he declared Texas' seccession from New America. Given the unreliability of the US military, the Council was forced to deploy the heavily militarised police, NSA strike teams, PMCs and Special Forces. The battle was brutal and heavily casualties were inflicted on both sides. The Council's forces had surrounded Houston, blockading it. During the blockade, a Spy Blimp was shot down by a hijacked tomahawk missile. The blimp crashed into the Houston oil tanks, igniting them and devastating Houston.

However, the Council had authorised the creation of a military force loyal to only them. Two divisions were being equipped, during the rebellion of Walker and were combat-ready as the conflagration of Houston raged. These two divisions were deployed to Texas and immediately crushed the rebellion. Carpet-bombing the city and destroying any remains of the once great Texan city. Since Houston, Overwatch has grown massively. Four Divisions were deployed to crush the pre-Network rebellion that spread through Florida, Mississippi and Alabama. Within a week, Alabama and Mississippi were subjugated and Florida under Martial Law. Since then the Overwtach has grown exponentially, and alongside the NSA, it is the dominant force. It crushes any rebellion and is in-charge of the security apparatus.

Note: yes the Overwatch and the NSA are the SS and SD respectively

I know my ideas are becoming tiresome so I'm going to slow down given that no one else has anything to share.

Some people may call plagiarism given this was inspired by the new CoD Black Ops 3 trailer but I had an idea of Transhumanists vs Purists.

The Transhumanists would have overthrown the old order, replacing it with a global sentient web connecting all of Transhumanism. Transhumanist parties win across Europe and Asia, and assimilation plants are erected across the globe, transhumanism is embraced.

However, an attack by a Pro-Human group on the largest assimilation plant in Bern, Switzerland, home of the transhumanist movement leads to a massive, colossal war. Every transhuman is transformed into a killing machine. War breaks out between humanity, crippled without its drones and advanced weapons and the Transhuaist army, where every solder has freedom of thought, but not freedom of movement.

Edit: Purist units are heavy and brutish, super tanks that have excellent stats in everything but speed. Very focused on brute strength
Transhumanist units are modular- allowing you to specialise them.

Relating to my idea with an MMORTS about gang warfare on steroids beforehand

The three gangs would be competing for control of the "Strip".

As such areas of the strip would be separated into Hexagons.

The game, being an MMORTS would challenge each of the factions to dominate the area.

Factions would battle over land, but also important areas like Chemical Research Plants (Owned by Pharmacare who is contracted by GLADIUS to develop medicine tocounter drug addiction), town halls, ports, major thoroughfares, casinos, Prisons (adds to your factions manpower and increases money) and GLADIUS district commands (essentially massive fortresses).

You would also be able to rob banks, hijack Pharamacare convoys and attack other gang's areas of interest such as strongholds and Drug Labs (syndicate)/Armouries (patriots)/Protest Camps (New World Army).

you would earn money through completing battles that would unlock more advanced units and abilities.

Designs for each side:

GLADIUS: High-tech sleek armour. Most of the armour is black or grey, there are yellow stripes on their armour and some blue high tech equipment. Lots of Sleek but thick riot armour types, many of their vehicles are slick but brutish. Emblem is an eagle spreading its wings.

Syndicate: Punkish and weird plus lots of mutant types. A lot of their equipment is this colour plus red, yellow, green, pink and purple hair. Lots of ex-junkies and prisoners- therefore orange jumpsuit pants.

Patriots: Red, White and Blue with some browns. Homemade tanks and battlebuses with lots of stars and stripes. American made weapons. Lots of scavenged equipment including Patton tanks.

New World Army Lots of black hoodies and balaclavas etc. Red Anarchy markings on a lot of things. Molotovs, crossbows, hackers and random weapons

The 3rd World War has just ended today, with over 500 million deaths. For decades, the world is filled with mistrust and hatred. It's only a matter of time before everything go out of control. And it happened just as predicted.
However, our task here is not yet done.
For over 20 years, the southern continent, have been a testing ground for foreign ideologies and theirs experimental weapons. Thousand deaths, millions lost theirs home and loved ones.
After the assassination of the last king, the country is in total chaos. The aristocrats, created an impostor and lied about the death of the king in order to keep theirs control over the nation. The people, learned about it and staged a revolt, calling for reforms and an end to the monarchy.
The military, now torn apart. Many support the aristocrats, while the others joined the people's revolution. Once comrades in arms, now they are enemies who seek to eliminate the others at anytime.
That is the story about this war that most people of this era know.
But, we know better...
The whole place is in total chaos. Civil wars exist even within the 2 factions, led by different warlords. The aristocrats alliance is not fully unified, as rivalry between the families have always been there as a matter of fact. All of them however, are in favor of siding with China during and after the war as an ally.
In the case of revolutionaries, the pro-American faction fought against the pro-Soviet groups, the differences between theirs visions of rebuilding the nation are too much, that such a conflict would be inevitable sooner or later. Both sides receive supports from theirs respective nations, and while the war with aristocrats is still far from over both nations have planned and prepared for such events. Then came the 3rd WW, and things happened just as expected.

As for we, we stand alone. Ours objective is different from theirs, but just like them ours goal have already been planned."

An introduction for a fictional RTS universe that I have in mind to for quite sometimes. It focus on the struggles of the factions in the yet unnamed country, which contain a fictional the southern continent. Its location should be close to Antarctica, but not exactly next to it. After the catastrophic 3rd World War, the factions which participate in the civil wars are now left to fend for themselves, as theirs client nations have theirs forces withdrawn completely from the continent as a result of the disaster.

Factions:

-Iron Dream (Power House+Mobile Attacker)

What's left of the proud 275th Imperial elite division once known as "Black Tigers", along with several disbanded Imperial army units. Its commanders realized that at this point no one can be trusted, and everything must be started from scratches. No more shall the military be used by different political parties for theirs benefits, in fact the comrades in arms are going to be the only rulers of the state. In the campaign, this is the faction whose goal isn't to gain international support nor maintaining order, but total destruction of all opposition forces and the establishment of a modern dictatorship. Considered the hardest to play as, but also the most rewarding faction as they have definitely the best weapons in the long run. Specialized in search and destroy, heavy defenses and brutal counter attacks. They are unique in the term that they only use one kind of tank and 1 kind of basic infantry through out the rest of the game, through upgrades they can become even more dangerous than the heavy tanks and special forces of other factions.
No separate doctrines like other factions, but most of theirs elite units are called in via chosen support powers instead of simply coming from production buildings.

-Alliance (Trickery+Jack of all Trade)

The aristocrats, after successfully assassinated the king who they believe to have destroyed what the empire truly was, now face the threat of nationalist and communist rebels. Setting aside theirs differences, they decided that the nation can only be rebuilt after the rebels have been defeated or surrendered. Specialized in deception warfare, theirs spy units can convert enemy units to theirs side through various method, as well as creating illusions on the battlefield. They also have better logistic supports than others faction, means better incomes and faster vehicle productions. Theirs units are pretty good and doesn't cost much too train. There are 3 respective doctrines that will grant the player specific benefits, new units and support powers: Suppression, Enhanced logistic supports and Asymmetrical warfare.

-People's Revolutionary Volunteers (Horde+Cannon)

Started out from a revolt, now separated into 2 sub-factions due to different ideologies. Infighting is common. The revolutionaries have not reached a conclusion about the fate of the nation yet, and now simply fight for controlling territories just for weakening the aristocrats. They have large numbers of volunteers, as well as financial and military support from the Soviet Union and America. While lacking in experienced troops and heavy equipments, they have enough bodies and firepower to put the enemy into submission through direct assaults. The 5 respective doctrines are The People's War, Indiscriminate Firepower, Mechanized Assaults, US Reinforcements and Soviet Trained Elites.

What do you think?

What about one that's literally supposed to be a action movie? You get rewarded for destroying superweapons as they're about to launch, veterancy trumps numbers (As in veterancy has no cap, it just keeps going higher) and such. Units start out nameless, but can gain a name and turn into a hero unit when they succeed.
Factions are divided between GOOD and EVIL. GOOD factions are stronger late-game while EVIL ones are stronger early-game and are expected to rush. They all fall under broad sterotypes and I'll use a star wars analogy to explain it.

GOOD:
Murica(FUCK YEAH): Powerhouse faction, bonuses to veterancy and extremely good lategame steamroller. (Galactic Republic)
La Resistance: Subversive: Very hard to root out, units designed for ambush attacks. (Rebel Alliance)
The Natives: Technical: Quasi-magical faction with spiritual powers. (Ewoks)

EVIL:
Russkies: Sterotypical jackbooted thugs. Practically limitless in number. (The Empire)
Terrorists: Sucide-bombing madmen. Can easily gain a crippling advantage, but once they're caught, get overrun fast. (Can't really think of one)
Cultists: Apocalypse-and-satan worshippers out to summon cthulu. (The Sith)

I like the ideas across the board. The idea of a cold war proxy conflict is very interesting.

The Iron Dream seems like a cool heavy faction. The idea that they rely mainly on their single infantry unit and tank with more powerful units coming in to support is interesting. Perhaps these guys could represent some nationalistic/fascist faction who wishes to form a dictatorship free of foreign influence. My only question would be what sort of units they get from support powers? I can see an Elefant-like Tank Destroyer and a King-Tiger like supertank. Perhaps some Supertanks for late game? IDK its not my idea it's yours.

It seems like Iron Dream vs the Alliance would be interesting. The Alliance's focus on stealth with strong logistics would be an interesting mix. Their doctrines also seem to make an interesting mix. One beefs up their ability to use logistics and Asymmetrical warfare takes stealth and raids to the next level. I like the idea they are sided with the third power China. What sort of their units would the Alliance have? I'm getting a sort of light vehicle vibe. Maybe some buggies and stuff.

The People's Revolution. This is a great idea, the fact that it is split between US and Soviet proxies is a great idea. I'm getting a Tankette and Artilley vibe from this faction in terms of vehicles, while there are light infantry, mortar infantry and stuff. I get the feeling that the Alliance and Revolution are the major two belligerents while the Iron Dream are more an upcoming power. These guys would be an interesting faction.

I do not own the Images, they are simply where I got my ideas from..

The three factions seem a good mix, and I like the setting.

What sort of backstory are there for the three factions.

the EDF seems like a good faction to start with. Heavy, numbers and dug in. I like the way these guys are set out from the prelims, their heavier approach is really gonna mess with the Shadow Nation. `On the Shadow Nation, they seem like a high tech faction that is channeling ideas such as Nod and the Cartel. They seem a good mix of stealth and damage. As for the invaders, haha, these guys may just destroy everything else. but seriously I like this idea. In terms of inspiration I'm getting the general idea of each of the factions. Hoping to see more soon.

I know this probably sounds like I'm desperate;
But I was just wondering if anyone had some thoughts on my Directorate vs Remnant, Echelon vs Basilisk and Gang warfare ideas.

Thanks

(The Sith)

Haha

Serialkiller, I can just see the epicness coming out of this.

I can see Navy Seals tearing through entire bases, giant cthulhu like creatures battling natives, Hind Gunships being brought down by sticks and stones. A wall of suicide bombers just running at a base.

I like the way that you've actually managed to find playstyles for each of these factions. This isn't a bad idea. I can just see that one cultist who's killed like a million people and the US calling in like everything on him, apaches, abrams, navy seals and raptors. Anyway. I can't wait to see any sort of unit ideas you've had.

The really "Key" part is how the EVIL factions have an easier early-game (bad guys slowly win until the climatic battle where they don't) and are expected to crush the good guys, while the good guys have to come back swinging.

Realistically, that cultist would be killed in a "Heroic Sacrfice" moment where a grizzled veteran hugs his child one last time before dive-bombing the half-cthulu monster with a prototype prototron charge and then trying to outrun the fireball and failing, and muttering goodbye before being pulled into the void.

I'll make a units list soon, so stay tune.

Yes, the Iron Dream is supposed to be the militaristic, fascist faction of the game. Iron Dream's members are consists of veteran imperial era units and theirs descendants, so when it come to experiences and battlefield awareness, they lose to no one.

The Iron Dream's elite support units would consist of many unit types, and are called or upgraded from support powers that you have to choose via the use of command points. You can choose any special powers in any order you like, as there is no restriction about which support powers will unlock the next ones like the other factions. However, you will never have enough command points for all of them, so make your choice carefully.
Command points can either be gained from killing enemy units, or by purchasing with large amounts of money.

Some examples:

-Assault Tigers: This support power let you call in a group of 2 IFVs, each contain 2 squads of Black Tigers elite infantry men, 6 men per squad. They cannot gain any veterancy as they are already treated as veteran units with all the veteran benefits like selfhealing, faster ROF, increased in durability, being uncrushable by vehicles...ect...
They are a better version of basic grunts, and theirs armaments are more modern version that the grunts carry. Can throw incendinary grenades to clear buildings and can setup sandbags and fortifications anywhere on the map.
The IFV, would have firepower capable of fighting all units but the heaviest battle tanks and aircrafts in the game.

-Annihilator of the Light: This support power let you call in Annihilator variant of the yet unnamed standard MBT. Come in a group of 3 tanks, the difference is that this variant use an experimental Annihilator cannon, allowing the MBT to obliterate the armor of a super heavy tank and heavy infantry easily. Basically, this power allow you to fight armor with epic firepower while not losing movement speed. Considered as a more cost-effective solution than building your own super heavy counterpart. Best to use when counter attacking as your basic units can soak up damages for them.

-Tank hunters: Upgrade all of your squads of grunts with an additional member carrying an advance recoilless rifle for extra anti tank firepower. The shell can pass through multiple units, damaging them in a line. Cannot be fired on the move, and require deploying or garrisoning inside buildings to use.

-Impervious stand: Allow you to upgrade your basic MBTs individually into Impervious variant. Add extra ceramic armor layers, an anti-missile defense system, a minigun on top the turret of instead of the standard 50/30 cals for better anti-infantry firepower and allow the tank to engage helicopters. Cost money for each upgrade. No change to anti-tank firepower except longer range for the cannon. The tank will also move slower. Good for defensive operations.

-Mobile fire supports: Iron Dream don't have access to mobile artillery vehicles on default and have to rely on static artillery defenses and recon helicopters/scout infantry units for targeting. This support power change that, allow you to call in a groups of 3 self-propelled artillery vehicles from off map. These things are fast, and possess dangerous long range fire power.

-Airborne assault: Paradrop 7 squads of veteran grunts, and 3 light tanks behind the enemy lines.

-Observation post: Deploy an Observation post at anywhere on the map. Allow you to train grunts directly from there.

-The End of Days: Deploy World Destroyer super heavy tank on the field. Almost everything can barely scratch it, and the firepower it possess is rivaled by nothing. Armed with a single 200mm Destroyer cannon which fire penetrator HEAT rounds, 2 SAMs on the left and right of the turret for anti-aircraft and equipped with layers of Shock Absorber Armor and anti EMP system for defenses along with advance communication devices. It is a command vehicle, and a weapon of terror. The monster can take a direct hit from a battleship cannon and still left standing.
Only 1 World Destroyer can be on the field, and if destroyed will take a long time till the next one can roll out. Cost lots of money to use.

-Invasion confirmed: Have all of your available combat units get inside transport aircrafts and deliver them directly into the enemy base. The transport aircrafts cannot be destroyed.

More to come, under construction........

At first, I have even more crazy things for it aw.gif

As for the Alliance, they will have high tech light vehicles and well trained specialized infantry. They can do hit and run, tricking, creating dummy clones of theirs real units for distraction, build fake buildings which can be used as explosive traps or upgrade to real ones, convert enemy units to theirs sides.....But they can also go toe to toe with the enemy when theirs entire late game arsenal is ready to use. Combine arms is the key generally, though special units from asymmetrical warfare do things in a different way.
Think about RA Allied with some twists. None of the factions is totally subversive, and if use right all of them can do awesome steamrollings.

As for People's Revolutionaries, yeah they should have Tankettes as basic scouts and swarm units. Also the only faction that can train mortar infantry unit from the barracks. Theirs tactics would be about blowing things to dust with artillery then sending a giant army of light infantry and medium tanks to occupy the area. They would have better defensive options and faster infantry training than the Alliance, but have worse basic vehicles all overall until doctrine specialized units come in.

Sounds good man.

i'll wait until you post SN before i dive into it too much, but these are my thoughts.

I like how these guys are sort of a 'grey' morality military global hegemon. They're not good but not evil either. This is a really good premise and one I've tired to mirror with my Directorate force. Sort of a force dedicated to order no matter the cost. Although I'll wait for your SN story, its seems as though this will be a grey morality fight. I think the EDF's playstyle also really fits its backstory as a steamrolling global hegemon.

An excellent idea,
a faction that appreciates free will and essentially uses all sorts of tactics to achieve this. Both of these have a "the end justifies the means" mentality, which, I believe is a great idea. I'd imagine while the EDF's forces have a sort of static technological level- ubertanks and ballistic weaponry, whereas the Shadow Nation has a massive rift between its high-tech professional forces and its poorly equipped protesters and grassroot rebels.

I really am loving the idea here X1.
Perhaps you'd like to post some pictures which show your inspiration for each faction.

Hmm.......Haven't thought about this.

In my imagination, the Iron Dream is a mix of different historical and fictional armies but none of them is exactly close to it so finding pictures wouln't be easy.

I can try to give some unit examples though.

The People's Revolutionaries took inspirations from WW2 Chinese National Revolutionary Army along with the 8th Route Army which eventually become the PLA. Also from Vietnam war.

As for the Alliance, they're supposed to be the generic mixed of RA Allied and old German/British imperials when it come to looks.

Iron Dream I imagine is hard to describe but I'll just guess Nazi Ubertanks?, south American military regimes etc.

The PR, I get the idea of a faction with very worn out uniforms and variously crappy-made tanks, and guys in civilian clothes.

As for the Alliance, I can see where your coming from; High tech sort of Imperialistic.

A little story on the formation of the Directorate: part 1

For years people had spoken of conspiracies within the UN, the military industrial complex and think tanks across the world. In the early 2030's, the oil crises mixed with a breakdown in order in many countries around the globe. The Council, a secretive group formed of high-ranking UN officials, civil servants, high-ranking politicians and members of the military industrial complex had begun arming its secret army. PMCs and operatives were the first among the Council's troops. Indoctrinated and purged of any who were not fully dedicated, the Council slowly began arming up. In 2035, a think tank called the "Global Institute on Order and Progress" penned a report to the UN General Assembly suggesting the formation of a new, centralised "Directorate of Nations". The suggestion was that national governments be disbanded and replaced by a central "Directorate" based in Geneva.

This suggestion was met with outrage by many, with several nations walking out of the Assembly. As Western Europe, facing unprecedented economic collapse and anarchy, was saved by the massive influx of funding and the deployment of the council's secret army to restore order. Western Europe, was therefore, the first to fall under the dominion of the "Directorate". On 8 May 2036, the UN Secretary General, a member of the Council's Inner Echelon, declared that the United Nation was disbanded. As shockwaves resonated across the world, the Directorate then went on the attack, its manpower swelled by the integration of the Western European armies. Utilising propaganda, the Directorate portrayed the Russians, Chinese and Americans as "uncivilised barbarians" who required liberation. Within a year, Western Europe had developed into a technological marvel, with universal health care, extremely fast internet and advanced technology. However, it was also under crippling Austerity and watched constantly by the security apparatus. Easter Europe fell next. In one fell swoop, the Directorate's orbital Stormtrooper units had deployed right into the hearts of Warsaw, Minsk and Kiev, seizing the cities and declaring a new era under the Directorate.

As the shock Directorate "blitzkrieg" that conquered Eastern Europe unfolded, many nations declared their allegiance to the Directorate. South Africa and it Southern African Economic Development community were the first to fold, followed by Chile, Argentina and Brazil, known better as the South America Triumvirate. With the collapse of North Korea, and the unification of Korea, Unified Korea's first president himself was a member of the Inner Echelon. Japan, Korea, Vietnam and finally, China, facing student protests bent the knee to the Directorate. Russia, facing existential collapse, with massive democracy uprisings, was saved with the arrival of Directorate transports in the skies of Moscow. Egypt and Israel as well, bent the knee to the Directorate, and became outposts for Directorate military incursions into Africa and the Middle-East. Australia and New Zealand had, along with South Africa, bent the knee early and were some of the first to receive the Directorate's guidance and blessing.

Soon only America stood as the only stable Nation against the Directorate. With Canada having bent the knee, Directorate forces stood at their Border. President John lincoln, a member of the Federalist Party, a libertarian party that had won elections for six successive years, declared that every American man, woman and child should stand with the American military and take up arms against the globalist forces of the Directorate. He declared:
"Since 1783, our great nation has been a beacon of hope to the world. For the first time in history, we face a threat greater than any other we have ever faced. To the North and across the seas, the armies of the Globalist Hegemon, the Directorate gathers. For years America has stood against tyranny, but now tyranny has come to our shores. They will take our weapons, they will take our freedom, they will ban our religions and indoctrinate our children. They will force us to be vaccinated, and ban marijuana. They will watch us in our homes and on our street. They will kill those who fight against them from the skies with the push of a button, they will put those who disagree in camps dedicated to their elimination and they will impose taxes upon everything we own. I call upon every American man, woman and child to take up arms against tyranny, just as our founding fathers did. Stand for a free America!"

A week later, a Directorate orbital satellite obliterated Philadelphia and their forces invaded America. The symbolic blow forced the capitulation of the American government, but across the country, the militias still stood strong, and across the world, the people began to awaken, and resistance began to form. John Lincoln would later reemerge as leader of the Continental Army, the American wing of the Liberation Army, who also operates Partisan groups in Directorate-occupied areas.

Murican Units:
Civilian: Free unit, armed with either a shotgun or pistol. Becomes a greenhorn when first supplied with gear.
Greenhorn: Rookie soldier. Has potential. Rapidly gains exp, including from seeing allies lost, once it levels high enough, it becomes a Veteran. If it destroys an enemy structure, it becomes a Commando the next time it resupplies.
Veteran: Grizzled soldier from the last war called in for one last mission.
Commando: Special forces soldier. Flies in on helicopter, less capable in combat than Veteran but has special abilities.
Defector: Enemy that changed sides. Russkies are equivalent to a Veteran, Terrorists never change sides and Cultists lose their magic, but can use counter-curses.
Abrams: Tank. Crewed by 4 close-knit brothers-in-arms. Losing one of them temporarily puts the tank in "Revenge" mode, massively boosting it's damage and resilience. Afterwards, gaining a new crew member penalizes the tank and his death does not trigger Revenge Mode. He becomes a fellow tanker after a while, this process is instantly completed by leveling up.
F-22 Ace: Cool slick ace. can damage plane to pull manuveurs it isn't physically capable of.
F-22 Wingman: Support unit to the ace, if it gets enough kills, it becomes it's own ace and both gain their own wingmen on the next time they land.
AC-130 Gunship: Tempoary power-spawned unit: Damage increases based on number of enemies nearby and how much damage allies have taken.

I just thought of two new factions

Task Force Awesome: Prototype Good guy task force using railguns, walkers, and super-heavy tanks.
The Cabal: Alien-backed conspiracy armed with laser guns, mutagenic weaponry, and hovercraft.

Please tell me this would have an epic action-movie narrator as an announcer as well .

And the USA theme has to be Murica FUCK Yeah on loop as they unleash shock and awe on everyone.

Please tell me there is a special pwer to call in Colonel McClane, a NYPD officer turned badass US Army commando.

TFA and the Cabal sound so good.

So TFA will have mechs and railguns and ubertanks.
and Cabal will have greys and mutagens and ufos.
Oh god, I think I just shit my pants.

Man this would be a great RTS.

The Rise of the Remnant

The Directorate's take-over and globalisation of its message did not resound with as much of the global population as the Council thought. The implementation of a system designed to excercise effective and beneficial yet totalitarian control over the world was not greeted with what the Directorate expected. The Directorate believed in effective economics, austerity to ensure economic success, universal health-care and technology, militarism and globalisation. Central to the Directorate was the idea of scientific rationalism. Science was a central tenant to effective governance, it believed, and religion represented an element of division in society. Religion is seen by the Directorate as a threat to a unified and globalised One World Government. It represents division and lack of unity within society, for so often had conflict been pursued because of religion. Culture too, the Directorate saw a threat. Culture lead to differences and diversity, to the Directorate, diversity stopped at Skin colour, all were citizens of a Global Directorate. Centralised, godless and cultureless global government. Indeed some iconic villages within Switzerland and Austria, particularly in the Alps, have been replaced with giant metallic structures- various command centres, administration buildings and secret experimental labs. The Taj Mahal is now a museum to the Old Order, the Great Wall of China has been rebuilt from scratch and turned into a massive defensive wall manned by the Directorate Security forces.

The Directorate's actions against culture and religion, as well as their harsher policies regarding normal life, drew a huge amount of opposition, despite the massive security apparatus the Directorate operated. In the aftermath of the invasion of America, the war is technically still going on there technically, the Directorate's opposition has emerged into the light. Collectively they are referred to as the Remnant, in reference of their ideologies and beliefs centering around the beliefs of the Old World. Based in Kazakstan, the Remnant seeks to return the world to democracy and national boundaries. Several groups within the Remnant exist: The Liberation Army is the amalgamation of many former National militiaries and soldiers along with militias who believe in protecting their old way of living. The Liberation Army is the hierarchy of these groups, who still operate on an individual level. The most prominent force of the Liberation Army is the Continental Army, led by former Libertarian President John Lincoln- this group is a force mixing former Military units with Militias and Freedom Riders. However, there are still many groups that exist outside this chain of command and do not receive the military equipment.

The next group, the Partisans operate around the world, mainly within Directorate territory. They are in no way united, Freedom fighters and protestors, they seek to liberate themselves from the Directorate and are mostly made up of everyday people, civilians simply seeking a better life. The partisans do have representatives at the Remnant home base, the Baikonur Cosmodrome, however they simply operate within their immediately local areas, with the exception of the Mexican partisans, who are unified and control the entire countryside with the exception of the cities, where the Directorate has dug in.

The third sect of sorts, are the Chaos Cells, not officially represented at the Remnant, the Chaos Cells are adherents to the belief of the deputy -leader of the Remnant, Sambuiko Qui, who herself believes the Remnant should replace the Directorate with a world based on 20th Century Anarchy. However, her followers in the Chaos Cells have taken this to mean that chaos should be unleashed upon the world. The CHaos Cells have made the most progress, with the Partisans mainly only operating small operations, and the Liberation Army fighting a more defensive war in America, the Middle East and Central Asia. The Chaos Cells have "liberated" Burma, Thailand, Indonesia and Brazil because they are willing to use almost any weapon to destroy the establishment. There are also Chaos Cells present in Africa, however given the chaos that occurs in Central Africa and the fact that both the Partisans and Liberation Army have contacts in the Warlords and Tribes there, Central Africa is not claimed by anyone. The Directorate fears the Chaos Cells the most, while the Inner Echelon is in agreement that the Partisans and Liberation Army can be brought to negotiations once they witness the full might of the Directorate, the Chaos Cells are mad. The Cells are willing to use a dirty nuke in the middle of a city, unleash stolen Sarin-strain gas into the subway to spread throughout a Directorate city, will kill anyone who surrenders and care little for civilians lives. While the Directorate itself is not phased by using its WMDs and Kill Sats to annihilate cities and wipe out resistance, it finds an enemy who does this and is willing to go further, a great threat to its ambitions of glbal Order, Progress and Security.

There are still some areas that have little to no resistance against the Directorate: Western Europe, China and Australia are the major areas. Western Europe, given it was the first area to join the Directorate, has reaped the benefits of Universal Health-Care, scientific rationalism and Directorate aid. China has long been totalitarian, indeed almost overnight the Communist Party was replaced with the Inner Echelon. The Chinese security apparatus was molded into a sleeker Directorate version and the Directorate took lessons from the Chinese security apparatus as well and applied it to their own Global one. Australia is the third, its close proximity to Indonesia and Papua New Guinea has led to a population sympathetic to the Directorate. Every night, the Directorate media networks beam images of the Chaos Cells brutality in South-East Asia and the Directorate military campaign to reclaim it. As such, these three countries form the backbone of the Directorate, along with Canada, South Africa and Korea.

The Remnant leadership, led by Command-in-chief Jacob Vance, has long been based in what was once-Kazakstan. The Central Asian country has long offered a haven for the Remnant. Astana, the capital of former-Kazakstan was declared the headquarters of the Remnant. From Astana, the former Remnant commander-in-chief Divya pattel declared the first free nation, Kazakstan. Moments after the Remnant hacked into the Directorate Global Network and played the video across the world, urging citizens to rise up against tyranny, the Inner Echelon authorised the use of one of the Directorate's new "Citykiller" Laser Satellites against Astana. Three million civilians perished, including Pattel and most of the Remnant leadership. The shattered remains of the Remnant, led by newly appointed CIC Jacob Vance and his deputy Sambuiko Qui, were evacuated to beneath the Baikonur Cosmodrome, where the Remnant now directs its global war from. In bunkers and tunnels below the Cosmodrome Vance and his rebels prepare to take the fight to Geneva and overthrow the Directorate and the Inner Echelon

I hope you have enjoyed reading the main two backstory parts about my Directorate vs Remnant idea, please feel free to post any criticism and thoughts as it would be greatly appreciated. I will be postig more stories and background related to this idea as well as any other new ideas I come across.

Major groups and characters of the Directorate vs Remnant world:

Jacob Vance
Commander-in-chief of the Remnant, Vance is a former small business owner-turned revolutionary. Thrust into the leadership following the destruction of Astana, Vance is dedicated to liberating all of the world from the Directorate and installing democracy. While Agnostic, he believes everyone should have a right to worship. He decries the destruction of states and lost his sister to a Directorate death camp in Canada. He has a personal grudge against the Directorate, and wishes to see it burn. He was a proud Canadian until canada was fused into the North American Union and yearns for the days of Canada. However, he is an ideologue, who believes in the Remnants cause fervently, which leaves him manipulated by certain factions in the Remnant.

John Lincoln
Former Six Year president of the United States, Lincoln was from the libertarian Freedom Party. Under his two terms he legalised marijuana, made almost all firearms legal and disbanded a large amount of the military-industrial complex. He was infamous for siding with several militias and pardoning them during a standoff with federal law enforcement. He is now the leader of the Continental Army, a force comprising of militias and ex-US military personnel who are digging in in the midwest. He has tattooed the Nuclear launch codes onto his arm, and seeks out the former NORAD base to utilise the Nukes to destroy the Directorate.

The Inner Echelon
The higher levels of the Directorate government including the Supreme Echelon or Council, the Overseers of the various Unions, and the relative military, industrial, security and economic heads. The Supreme Echelon comprises of a roundtable of 12 seats. Each of these seats represent a different Corps (Department) within the Directorate. Security, Military, the Economy, Science Corps, Industry, Social Corps, Administration etc. Some jurisdictions overlap- for example Military and Security overlap in terms of jurisdiction of the Black Section, so therefore Military has command over them, while security oversees funding and equipment. Similarly, the Science Corps and Military overlap on the Advanced Weapons forces, and so a similar structure occurs. The 6 Overseers of the world (+ the Special Administrator for Antarctica) also sit on the Supreme Echelon. Below them are various advisors and administrators from the different Corps. These people all oversee the functioning of the Directorate as whole, and its efficient management and war effort.

- Security Corps: This Corps and their Council member represent the Directorate's Security Apparatus and the multiple agencies that make it up. The corps operate surveillance of the billions of people within the Directorate, counter-terrorism operations, and cooperating with the Military Corps to destroy the Remnant.

- Military Corps: The officers and civil servants that make up the Military's hierarchy. This Corps is responsible for allocating funding, commanding the military and ensuring military campaigns are up to scratch. This is the largest Corps in terms of manpower and funding.

- Economic Corps: Setting various economic policy and allocating funding to various public works. The Economic Corps is in charge of the Directorate's ecnonomic policy and, as such, oversees the massive austerity policies initiated by the Directorate to ensure the maintenance of the Directorate machine and repair all nations across te globe.

- Science Corps: Science and Rationalism are important parts of the Directorate and as such an entire corps is dedicate to it. The Science Corps pursues the development of new technologies to improve the quality of life in the Directorate. The Science Corps is also in charge of pursuing a less public policy of the Directorate. Research into eugenics. While the Directorate promotes the equality of genders and races, it seeks to create pure citizens loyal only to the Global Directorate.

- Industrial Corps: Industry and manufacturing are important to the Directorate and as such, this Corps is dedicated to it. Whether developing the Directorate's latest Uber Tank and atmospheric transport, to building a new smart device to interconnect the citizens of the Directorate, the Industrial Corps is charged with mass-producing all equipment for the Directorate.

- Social Corps: Drugs, alcohol and entertainment, the Social Corps maintains propaganda and social policies for the masses. The Social corps makes laws relating to social activities and is responsible for banning drugs and heavily taxing alcohol (on top of already crippling austerity) as well as maintaining laws and policy on social issues.

- Administration Corps: The Corps that ties it all together. The Administration Corps oversees the making of laws, updating of the Canon of the Directorate (their constitution) as well as insuring cooperation between the other corps.

- Space Corps: A relatively new corps, this corps is dedicated to developing the equipment, planning and technology as well as manpower needed for future colonisations of the Moon and Mars. The Space Corps, given its role, also cooperates with the Science and Military Corps over the operations of satellites and orbital weapons.

Sambuiko Qui
Born of an Indonesian mother and Chinese father, Sambuiko and her family moved to Thailand. She grew up in a lower-socio economic area in Bangkok, known for its frequent violence and disregard for the rule of law. In 2021, as chaos began to envelope the globe, Sambuiko became part of an Anarchist group dedicated to the overthrow of the military/police junta: the Peace and Order Council. She and her friends, were among those who, in the Yellow Revolution of 2023, marched in the streets against the junta. Her parents were killed in a Junta airstrike against her slum, and she lost many friends to the riot police and troops sent into the lower areas of Bangkok. Following the failed revolution, she fled to America with money she had stolen from a bank during the chaos of the Yellow Revolution. She studied political science and graduated as the Directorate seized power in Australia, China and South Africa. The Directorate's rise led her to join the remnant, as such she is a powerful voice in it, given her anarchist views and her messiah status in the Chaos Cells.

Continental Army
Soldiers, militias and civilians of the former United States, the Continental army is led by the great libertarian John Lincoln. The Army operates out of the devastated mid-west. He and his men fight to liberate America from the godless and cultureless Directorate. The Continental Army uses equipment from the former US Army and shames the Liberation Army equipment sent to it. While having contact and being a member of the Liberation Army, the Continentals operate of their own accord. Their actions have led to the Directorate retaliating with kill sat strikes devastating entire towns. However Lincoln and his men continue to fight on.

more to come...

Let me ask a question:

What two sort of playstyles or asymmetrical factions do you like? And is ideology a factor in this sort of design?

I was looking back through what was posted and see if I could offer anymore advice.
Just looking at this power X1, it seems a little overpowered, as it is literally a massive invincible portal. I mean you could give the Iron Dream massive starlifter-like transports that are tough, but this seems a little over-powered. However, I haven't seen what other factions get so I guess I can't really comment.

Had this idea for a while... yes its Machines vs Humans.

The end of World War 3 and the devastation it brought to the world entered humanity into a new stage, nations collapsed, humanity faced extinction on a mass scale. Water poisoned and destruction wrought upon every aspect of life. The destruction that was wrought upon the world was terrible. Nations collapsed and communities emerged across the world. The War between the USSR and the US had devastated the world and in the year 2050, humanity had begun to slowly interconnect again.

In the dying says of World War 3, the US and USSR put their Nuclear Weapons and Factories under the control of experimental AIs, to ensure efficiency. Aptly named HYDRA (US) and Objekt 242 (USSR), these AIs were given increasing control over the US and USSR military infrastructure, then someone pressed the button, hell maybe neither President did, but it happened, in a flash Europe and North America disintegrated and the rest of the world in chaos. Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, the AIs had fused themselves into a single entity, the Collective. Utilising the factories they once controlled, the collective built many machines under their control, to decimate the remnants of humanity. Using the surrounding ruins of cities as resources to fuel their construction, the collective has slowly expanded, building its massive nexuses across the world, assimilating land into their Hives. The machines operate a battery that runs purely on biomass, creating it into a liquid that can power machines for months. THis biomass can be any plant, animal or even human life. These batteries can run for a long time, however, slowly, as the biomass runs out, machines become slower, requiring them to refill their battery. The nuclear war, however, damaged the infrastructure of the Collective, and it split into three distinct personalities, still tied to the collective, but different in their tactics:

- Abaddon: Aggressive, brutal and uncompromising, its weapons tower on the battlefield, destroying its enemies with brute force.

- Azrael: Its weapons are psychological and shock and awe, utilising fear and speed, it surprises and decimates its enemies.

- LEGION: It utilises hordes of cheap machine, designed to overwhelm the enemy with quantity.

However humanity is not finished, under the Dublin council, humaity is fortifying against the machines in South America, China, Australia and the ruins of the Middle East and Africa.

The human resistance has access to three doctrines:

- Spec Ops- what it says on the tin, sneaky and mobile, with the ability to move some of their buildings. Gives the Resistance command centre camouflage.

- Advanced Weapons: More defensive and air-focused, the AW doctrine gives players more cannon options. AW gives the Resistance CC a Radar.

- Scavenger: using eastern bloc weapons, the scavenger focus on buffs. For example their units can in the field "scavenge some armour, which buffs the units armour for a short time, but slowly increases the damage dealt.

I can't decide whether the Collective units should be like silver and white with sky blue housecolour or black and grey with red.

I will post unit lists later.

Yeh, good examples, Germany is sort of a powerhouse as well.

Sorry guys if it seems like I'm spamming this with my ideas. I just have a lot of ideas and like to seek out criticism and advice on them.

Another idea I had was centered on a Second American Civil War/Revolution.

It would be areas of the South, Mid-west and West Coast against the powerful Northern Military-Industrial complex. The background would be as follows.
The economic crisis of 2033 left America crippled. Military spending decreased significantly, food banks sprung up across the country and riots permeated each day. Attempts by several coalition governments to introduce austerity to ensure the survival of the American economy were blocked by the increasingly libertarian states. Claiming the Federal government was attempted to impose tyranny on the masses, several states called up their National Guard. Forced the federalise each of the guards, the states then began raising their own militias, pouring more and more money into "Freedom Brigades", "Liberty Guards" and "Self Defence forces". The confrontational stance led to the formation of a pro-Federal centre party out of the remains of the Democrats and Republicans. Formed with Liberals, Neocons, Federalists and RINOs, the Unionist party won landslide elections in many Eastern states, given that South and Western states, many under State of Emergencies but in place by the previous Coalition Government, didn't hold elections.

The Unionists surged into office and a congress and senate majority. From the get-go, the Unionists passed various measures that fundamentally changed the US constitution. The President's power was seceded more to congress, which was in turn given more power. The Supreme Court was shifted into a position as supreme arbiter over all of America. The Unionists also increased spending on Federal Agencies, the military and passed several bills curbing the powers of "well-regulated militia's". This lead to an increase in a spate of attempted militia attacks on Federal targets. A militia member, in the vein of the Oklahoma bombing, attempted to detonate a massive stolen "Daisy cutter" bomb in the NSA headquarters. The perpetrator was shot multiple times through the windscreen by an NSA police officer, and killed before he could pull off the act. Whispers of rebellion spread across the U.S. Leading the Unionists to authorise an unprecedented increase in defence, and security spending, as well as the mass mobilisation of US security and military forces. An attempted assassination on the Attorney General was only foiled by an FBI sniper team deployed atop a nearby building.

However, the insurgency which would lead to a civil war exploded when groups in the South, claiming to be the New Confederacy, attacked many federal targets to tear down the Union. This was in response to the declaration that the Unionist Senate and Congress would pass legislation banning the possession of firearms and curbing the powers of the states.

The two factions wold represent a divergence of playstyles:

The Union: they would have high tech drones, power armour, advanced weapons, a powerful and massive airforce and, at the end of the game, Super Tanks. They would also be able to call in advanced weapons like Cryo tanks and atmospheric transports.

The Confederacy: Focusing a lot more on stealth, the confederacy's vehicles would be home made. Operating out of warehouse and tent bases they would use tunnels, explosives and ambushes to defeat the superior Union.

I had another idea:
Its a bit simplistic and sort of throwaway, but what about this:

Three factions:

The West (Elitist and high tech, with powerful mechs and a good airforce)

The East (Tanks, Artillery and numbers.)

The Cabal (Assassins, snipers and high-tech cannon units)

I know not many people have the time to or bother to write anything in this forum but I had a question.

Do you think that if there was to be a reboot of the Tiberium and Red Alert series that they should take on a darker tone?

Cataclysm: Embers of Hope
A real time stategy game.

In the year 2051, as the climate crisis worsened great storms lashed the coasts of the world, apcoalyptic weather events rattle earth.

Story:

The collapse of much of the social order in Africa, Central and South America and Asia led to the creation of the United Earth Republic, declared by the UN Secretary General, effectively a military dictatorship that controlled Europe, Australia and North America. Closing the borders of the UER, its military expanded massively designed to protect the UER from the failed states of the world. Refugees fled to the UER only to be turned back by massive UER ships or obliterated by coastal cannons. In the high tech cities of the UER, free from the rising sea levels, the citizens of the UER questioned why the sub-human filth attempted to infiltrate their lands and steal their jobs. As the UER consolidated its power, developing massive weapons to protect itself from the "filth" that resided in the failed states around the world. In 2054, as the sea levels slowly inundated many parts of Africa, Asia and South America, the Red Hand rose to power. A revolutionary, leaderless movement that aimed to tear down the 'Fascist" and 'imperialist' UER. Gathering together militas, gangs and the peoples of the forgotten continents, they began their war against the UER.

The Red Hand believe the gods have sent the storms and destruction to punish humanity for their decadence. While not having official control over Asia, South America and Africa, the Red Hand has significant influence. Should two warlords be fighting, a call to arms by the High Priests of the Red Hand would stop any fighting, lest the warlords be killed for not bending the knee to the call for War. The Red hand's leadership are pseudo messiah's who claim to be the voice of the gods. The Red Hand forces are comprised of a mix of tribal and messianic warriors covered in bones and other tribal artifacts mixed with body paint armed with machetes and other homemade weapons. They are supplemented by regular troops who are from the countries former militaries, as well as militia's and gangs. Their vehicles are mainly salvaged with some sporting some serious dakka. Some of their units combine good firepower with excellent speed but armour is terrible. While the Red Hand has overwhelmed the Balkans, forcing the UER back into Europe, and overthrown the UER puppets in Mexico, the UER has also invaded northern Africa, threatening to cut off the Red Hand's invasion routes into Europe.

Faction Design and playstyles:
- UER: Heavy weapons and a powerhouse/elitist with a strong air force and ubertanks
The UER would very much have a more clean, European/US and "First World" look. Their units would include a powerful airforce based off Next-Gen fighters and Drones as well as VTOL attack craft. Their ubertanks, while having armour and firepower to boot, are not clunky, but rather look clean and efficient. Their infantry all wear suits to protect themselves and there is Exo Skeletons within their ranks as well. The UER builds buildings by selecting the building, which is fabricated off map, deploying it by calling in a massive starlifter like craft to place it on the map, allowing it to deployed over water, canyons/caverns and fire. Once their buildings are deployed they cannot be moved, however should the building come under attack, the player has the option of deploying a security squad of 10 officers who, while having mediocre armour and weapons, can assist in defensive operations. Their buildings, while High-Tech are also pragmatic in that they can take a lot of punishment from enemy troops. The UER can build a satellite alignment facility, which allows the UER to launch a small but powerful satellite strike that saturates and destroy an area. Deploying mobile satellite vehicles, mounted on M270 chassis (only 5 per Sat facility can be built), reduce the time for the Sat Strike to be ready again, but unlike the Temple of Fire only 2 Satellite Alignment Facilities may be built. MSVs can also deploy a special ionic shield which disables the vehicle and protects all units within. This allows for quick, but more targeted strikes rather than devastating area of effect strikes that can, at maximum number of targeting vehicles, take 30 seconds to recharge. The UER heavily armoured security/support vehicle, the "Michelangelo", can deploy rocket and machine gun turrets early on to assist UER. The Michelangelo, as well as a repair vehicle and light attack unit are built from the support vehicle Assembly Plant, the second unit building unlocked in the UER tech tree. These drone turrets are good support for the Assault rifle and Rocket launcher armed security teams. The UER is designed as a sort of Neo-Crusader force. It units, given their armour and speed are similar to knights in terms of design philosophy. Their buildings are like Castles, massive, imposing, high-tech and strong. Given their basing in Israel and Europe as well as Australia and the US and Canada, their forces are all also from countries related to the Crusade (or related to).

- Red Hand: subversives/spammers with some Dakka units
The Red Hand is very much a moving junkyard. Many of their units are amphibious, but look clunky. A mix of halftracks, improvised tanks and more advanced units of the "Elite Guard". Most Red Hand units take damage the longer they are in the water, unless they are elite guard, which mix regular military gear with some high tech ideas. Their buildings are built by Worker Gangs, who construct the buildings on the ground, which make them vulnerable to attack but quicker built than the UER ones. Once a building is built, it has the ability to pack up into a truck that can move around the map and redeploy somewhere else. They focus on a more horde mentality early on, with their basic units costing approximately 1/10 of that of the basic UER Infantry. Later on more advanced units can be called in, which then changes it into a more ambush and mobility. The Driller is another important unit to the Red Hand, which creates tunnels across the map. The Driller functions in that you select the Entrance to the tunnel and the exit, this then links the two together and to the wider tunnel network. The Red Hand has the ability to build a Temple of Fire, once this temple is built it becomes a superweapon. A player must then choose to arm it with a nuclear missile, which after a couple of minutes becomes armed and allows players to launch a nuclear missile. A player must build their first Temple of Fire before they can build their second Temple of Fire and so on. Each time you arm a nuclear missile it becomes more expensive. Elite Guard Infantry units, as well as Berserker General infantry can use the berserk ability, which for 10 seconds denies any enemy damage and gives the unit a massive speed boost, in which he/she draws a machete and charges enemies. The unit will explode on contact if he is ordered to attack a vehicle, using their last explosives in a desperate attempt to destroy vehicles. These berserk units can however, be killed by superweapons and support powers.

Gameplay Features

Resources:
There are two types of resources: Earth Metals and Ore (may changes this later), Earth Metals grown in exposed patches while Ore grows in "Fields" which will slowly grow as more is forced to the surface. The UER can build an Extractor on Earth Metal patches and deploy a Purifier Plant which sends out drones to harvest Ore,the Red Hand build a mining camp which sends out "pilgrims" to mine both resources.

Climatic Events:
Given the centre of this game is the Climatic Crisis, many events in-game can affect the play of the game. Much of the map might flood, which while the Red Hand can use most of their units as amphibious attack units, would force the UER to use their airforce and Orbital Drop forces, while retreating their ground forces to higher ground. The water might then drain out through massive cracks in the Earth, forcing your units into narrow choke points. Alternatively, a huge storm could swirl across the map with powerful winds reducing accuracy and lightning destroying units. A huge earthquake could rock the map, splitting it in half, or thirds, or quarters; forcing artillery to square off across the gashes in the Earth and bringing the air force into play, until another quake reshapes the planet. Fires can break out across the map should there be an increase in heat, a dense forest that is covering a group of UER troops from Red Hand vehicle could suddenly come alight cooking the UER infantry. many of these climatic events the players will receive notice of... but some will happen without prior knowledge. For obvious balance reasons, the immediate spawning areas of each player will not be affected.

Doctrines
Doctrines are sort of subfactions that change the way the factions tech tree operates, chosen at the beginning of the game, neither player is aware of the others Doctrine and will only learn when they go up against the enemy.

UER
- Air Force (Focuses on the complete dominance of the Air and boosts both aircraft and ground AA
- Shock and Awe (Powerful combined arms, shock and awe requires the collaboration of ground and air forces in brutal attacks to be effective)

Red Hand
- Berserker General (All infantry units can use the berserk ability and many of his unique units are designed simply for firepower and speed)
- Horde General (Utilises swarms of cheap Infantry and Light Vehicles as well as devastating rocket and barreled artillery which open gaps for the swarm to get in)

More to come...

I had an idea recently

It revolved around a revolution.

Essentially it would be a mix between real-time strategy and grand strategy.

You would be in command of a revolutionary force in a fake country, Orania.

Orania has had a long history of revolutions and dictatorships. The current dictatorship has been in power for 15 years. Neighboring Vraxis, big brother to Orania, managed democracy and long time intervener in Oranian politics.

In game, you choose and set what sort of dictatorship Orania is and some of the preconditions of your own movement.

You then would choose where you start-

In the Agrarian North, High-tech South-West, Oil Rich East, mountainous and forested west, or snowy and isolated South-East.

Each confers different advantages. For example High-Tech is going to give you more access to technology early on, Agrarian gives you more manpower etc. etc.

As you start out you will have a small number of camps. You will also have influence over facets of the population. You can organise rallies and protests and gather people to you cause. Apart from a few skirmishes with local troops you shouldn't engage in much conflict. As you build up you can attack Army Bases, overthrow governors etc. You can engage in diplomacy with major foreign powers: the US, China, Russia, India and the EU. You can do things that are requested by each of these countries to gain trust and build stronger relations with them. Over time they will equip you with civilian and military aid. You can engage in a wide range of operations including abductions drug running, attacks on military bases etc. However should your actions fall out of favour, Vraxis, most likely with the support of a foreign nations will invade in support of Orania in an attempt to destroy you.

Major areas of conflict between the Remnant and Directorate:

Eastern Europe
The Overseer of Eastern Europe, Jans Lieberman, was assassinated by a car bomb belonging to the the Slavic Popular Liberation Front, a coalition of Eastern European Partisan groups. In the following days a new Overseer, from Warsaw, was appointed in the Chaos. The Echelon voted to deploy Directorate troops to support the security forces in Eastern Europe. The new Overseer, Kraukov, refused to deploy these troops and blocked the resolution. A full Partisan riot overwhelmed Warsaw, sacking all Directorate facilities and destroying much of the cities. Kraukov still refused to respond, even as the Echelon suggested the deployment of Sarin on the city. Kraukov, who had secretly been a member of the Remnant since the destruction of Astana, attempted to detonate C4 attached to him while he was in an Inner Echelon meeting. He was shot dead by Col. Rightman, a security attache to the meeting. In the subsequent chaos in Eastern Europe, the Directorate dropped over 2000 Sarin canisters on Warsaw, killing almost the entire population and leaving the city uninhabitable for three years. Crushing the SPLF's uprising, 10 Directorate divisions pushed into Eastern Europe deploying in each of the major cities and declaring martial law, replacing the Administration Corps and Overseer for Eastern Europe with a Military corps managed commissariat.

more to come

@Cataclysm. Seems to have a somewhat Tiberium-esque feel to it, especially the 3rd game, where GDI takes the "First world" and seals it from the apocalypse while we have the apocalypse-cult Nod.

Thanks Serialkiller for taking the time to look at it.
I was wondering if you thought that was bad?

Anyway here is my further explanation:
I sort of had a global catastrophe/First World Idea in mind when designing the UER, while the Red Hand (I guess its close to Black Hand?) is more of a mix of desperate refugees, religious zealots (that mix African Tribal with sort of South American Messianic cults and Asian religions), militias and terrorists. For example, the "Elite Guard" infantry units as well as one of the RH's subfaction's infantry have the ability to go "Berserk", which reduces all enemy damage to them to 0 and their armour to 1000 for 10 seconds, they charge their enemy armed with a machete.

The UER is a futuristic "Managed Democracy" of sorts. Its people hate those of the Third World and the Red Hand with passion. Its water borders are guarded by high-tech and juggernaut like ships and its land borders by land mines, walls and massive guns. The idea behind the UER is a high-tech powerhouse who boasts excellent armour, powerful guns, a dedicated and devastating air force, and massive upertanks/artillery. These guys are meant to be extremely advanced but also extremely devastating. For example, their MBT, the Basilisk, functions like a heavy tank. When its maingun is replaced with a rail-gun it becomes a devastating tank, with some loss in speed, still relevant in armour and combined arms tactics. In Europe, following the massive freezing overs of Russia and part of Eastern Europe, countries such as Poland and Czechoslovakia who were in the UER found their cities protected by domes. Such dome technology is also utilised in battle as shield to protect units from direct enemy fire. Their buildings can be deployed anywhere on the map by the massive V-150, high tech, massive 4-rotored Osprey like transports. but it is advisable that the UER buildings, while tough, be deployed in clusters to ensure better survival.

The Red Hand on the other hand (oh dear...) are an loose coalition of warlords, preppers, natives, refugees, militias, third world militaries etc. They really will mix tribal like African designs with crappy junk yard vehicles who mix with the more advanced (but not high-tech) Elite Guard. The Red Hand also boasts the ability to pack up all of its buildings (excluding Mining Camps and Temples of Fire) into truck convoys and move them around the map. A later upgrade from the Temple of Knowledge allows the trucks to move over water with various flotation devices and barrels of air attached to the vehicle. Similarly all Red Hand vehicles are amphibious from the start of the game, but take damage slowly over time in the water, unless they are "Elite Guard" units. Early game the Red Hand can crush the UER, which will force the UER, whose units are far more expensive, to deploy Drone turrets that their heavily armoured security vehicle can "poop" out.

I hope this has clarified some of the factional ideas behind the two factions.

This is an idea I had a little while ago.

Following the end of the Cold War, as the Soviet Union looked like it would collapse, the agents of the New World that looked to emerge were hard at work. Meeting with Soviet and Western ministers, the blueprint for a new "Collective of Organised States", a globalised union of the most powerful Western Nations and Russia to ensure a "New World Order" of peace and security. The group the "Collective" had long influenced world events during the Cold War to stop Communism or a similar Cold War from ever happening again. The Arms Race and the destabilistion of the Soviet Union was largely influenced by the "Collective" to ensure the end of the cold war and the rebirth of the world.

The idea of a highly organised society with Powerful nations at the helm was born out of the fall of the Soviets. Russia, Britain, the United States, Germany many nations became part of this Collective of Organised States. Developments in technology flourished in Collective nations. However, one strong nation still remained, China, communist and authoritarian, a threat to the collective new breed of "Managed" Global Democracy. The communist regime was becoming increasingly paranoid and the Collective looked to student protests to overthrow the Communists. At the turn of the 21st century, massive protests erupted in China. Three forces came out of this revolution. The communists and marxists, who were a loose group of communist re-revolutionaries the Nationalists, who wanted China to join the Collective and the Democratic Protestors, who wanted real change. The Collective backed the Nationalists, funding them and shipping weapons and advisors there. But other forces were also at work. As the Communist Party collapsed, the Red Liberation Army, a third world guerilla force with a massive population who wished to create a true Proletariat and overthrow the Collective's grip on the world, began to form a force for Communism to instate a new truly-marxist regime. Throughout the world, however, those who were forgotten from the Collective and threatened by the RLA, had gathered together in the Democratic Alliance. Brazil, India, Mexico, Nigeria and other developing nations who were left out in the cold, away from the strong, prosperous and neo-imperialist Collective.

- Collective of Organised States
The Collective's forces are focused on firepower and armour. Their aim is to devastate enemies with an array of firepower and air options. The Collective arsenal mixes superheavy and high-tech infantry and vehicles with strong airpower. The Collective specialises in front on assaults and search and destroy tactics. Units such as a heavier version of the Abrams, the M113 Vulcan and the BMPT Terminator find their way into the Collective arsenal. Supported by an array of helicopters and long range bombers. As the war escalates further, the Collective HQ can choose to deploy Drone Technology or superheavy equipment (Exoskeletons, ubertanks.).

- Democratic Alliance
With generally balanced forces, the DA occasionally leans towards subversive. They have equipment such as T-72s and T-90s as well as more advanced equipment. Running on Coal Power Plants the DA fights against both the Collective and RLA around the world. Their equipment is generally modern, but not as advanced as the Collective or as improvised as the RLA. Their units generally perform well in battle but cover multiple roles.

- Red Liberation Army
A rag tag militia of revolutionaries and ideologues. The RLA focuses on swarming the enemy with cheap troops. Mortar infantry, light tanks and artillery are key units the RLA. The artillery forces gaps which vehicles and infantry swarm through. They have weak structure but focus on swarming the map and ensuring map control with massive bases and swarms of troops.

Some people have been asking for the GLA to be recontextualised into a more "freedom-fighter" force and not a "stereotypical African/Islamic terrorist force". As such I had an idea to sort of pander to this. (I'm not saying that I don't like the GLA, all I'm saying is that I liked the idea of a different GLA.)

My idea was to have a One Word Government having been declared which utilises some of the 4 State ROTR factions hardware: (Paladin, Leopard, MSTA) as well as its own. It would have the Pandora as well as 2 other experimental unit types. These guys would combine a mix of American utilitarianism, Russia powerhouse and ECA pragmatism. The OWG would have a Tank/Mechanised General, an Experimental/Advanced Warfare General (Lasers, Microwaves etc.) and Specops (Artillery+ Special Forces).

In comparison the GLA have three wings. While they keep many of their units, some of their more controversial units have been moved to different generals. There would be three different generals: a progressive one, who uses hacking and other more moderate weapons, a fundamentalist one who uses anthrax, suicide bombs etc. and a military one, who uses old military weapons.

This is the sort of idea I had with my Remnant faction, the Partisans are a mix of civilians and militia, the Liberation Army the military and the Chaos Cells more fundamentalist

I've decided that this forum has become mainly me just flooding it with ideas.
Due to this, I've decided to to seriously slow down my posting and maybe even stop.
From now on I'll just edit my ideas, in particular the Directorate vs Remnant and Cataclysm ideas unless someone posts something new or I have an idea I would like criticised.
Thanks for those who contributed.

Hi guys,
I know I said I wasn't going to post much more in this thread unless there was input from other people, given that it's basically been me ranting about my ideas for the last couple of posts, but i was wondering if I could ask a favour.
Whilst I understand that most people, myself included, don't have much time, I was just wondering if you could drop any criticism or constructive feedback on my Directorate vs Remnant and Cataclysm RTS ideas. I am thinking about developing these ideas further and maybe make the DvR a mod or Cataclysm a game. Whilst this may seem fantasy right now, i have been talking to a few friends who may be interested in a DvR mod/game.

Anyway thanks for anyone who does provide feedback.

Thanks.

This is a joke of an idea I've had.
Its sort of a less serious version of the New America idea I had.

Essentially we have two factions:
The New World Order (Militarised police forces, alien technology, pyramids, Illuminati Spies, banks as secondary income, able to build corporate advertising for more income)
The Resistance (Militias, Hackers, Veterans, killdozers, battlebuses, homemade tanks and protesters)

Each faction has some familiar conspiracy theories as units, buildings and powers:

NWO:
Riot Police
Tactical Officer
Illuminati Agent
PMC
Devastator (Heavy)
Chemical Weapons soldier
MRAP
Repressor (IFV)
Various Drones
Surveillance Drone
Prosecutor (MBT)
News Van (Can take control of enemy units.)

Temple Paramount (Headquarters, massive Pyramid)
Solar Power Plant (Renewable conspiracy theories)
Media Centre (Controls dissemination of Propaganda to the masses as well as the Gathering of intel and surveillance)
Federal Reserve (Generates a steady stream of income, can tax the populace, which withdraws 5000 from the enemy for an immediate injection.)
Billboard (Generates a flow of cash which increases the more units are within a radius)
Camera (Detects stealthed units)
HAARP (Superweapon)

The Resistance:
Protestor
Militia Member
Sniper
Veteran

Killdozer
Battle Bus
Bomb Truck
Bomb Buggy (Toy Car with explosives strapped to it)
Driller (Old Mining equipment that digs tunnels)
Little bird

Foxhole (Can garrison infantry in)
Dirty Bomb Launcher (Superweapon)

A new RTS idea I had.

There are two factions (three possibly if I add a scavenger faction), the Plague and Task Force Artemis.

The WHO had warned of a break out of mutated viruses in Africa, which would lead to a breakdown in order and available health systems. Three weeks later a total collapse in order swept through central and southern Africa. Deaths piled into the hundreds then thousands before reports of the living dead began to spread. The Virus spread to Northern Africa and across the Sinai Peninsula into the Middle-East. Reports of the living dead spreading across the continent found its way to a hastily assembled meeting in Geneva. The West, Russia, Israel and China met to create Task Force Artemis, named after the Greek Goddess of Health, Plague and hunting.

Artemis' role would be to rescue civilians and engage the plague on every level. As such, Artemis would have control over land, sea and air assets to face down the Plague.
Their high tech, clinical gray and white vehicles were developed specifically to fight in the battlegrounds against the Plague.

The virus that triggered the Plague had developed at an astounding rate, spreading through water, air and animals. As the Plague became more and more sentient, developing its own intelligence and becoming a puppeteer of bodies. The dead rose and overwhelmed the many security forces in Africa and the Middle East. THese "Zombies" began to morph and evolve into new creatures and beasts.

Okay, so the storyline needs a bit of work, actually a lot of work. Essentially however this is a story that will be developed to the ideas behind this game. Essentially we have the Plague, Task Force Artemis and the Scavengers (Who I'll get to later).

So the main resource is humans, some are scattered around the map, whilst many are within buildings. Task Force Artemis builds an evacuation centre which in turn can train Blackhawks and V-22 Ospreys. These can then be deployed around the map to "save" humans. The Blackhawk is faster but cannot carry as many as the V-22. The amount of humans "gathered" unlocks new Tech-levels, higher end units and some higher buildings. They also have another resource required which is called energy, this is generated by Energy Generators which slowly generate energy over time, energy is required to build units.

The Plague on the other hand produces Tumors, which can be used to infect buildings. Each building has a certain amount of resistance (represented visually by barriers and barbed wire), which can be worn down by attacking it. The Tumour then infects the building which slowly then generates the human resource, this is required to build hosts (the most basic infected). Hosts can then morph into new units using the second resource, Biomass. Biomass is gained by attacking and killing enemies. Each unit can also evolve, for example hosts can become Fast Hosts and Juggernauts can gain mace-hands.

The Plague has a central 'Nerve Centre" which spreads "infection" (a type of creep). Buildings are transformed into base structures by the Tumour. Infection slows down enemy units and heals allied ones. There is also a recreation centre which can be built by Tumours, this respawns hosts for any unit killed.

ECA(ECA): Germany, Great Britain and France

North Asian Comunists (Russia):Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

Funny you should mention this Zun,

I had an idea today that there would be a four-faction world following the collapse of the United-states due to domestic issues.

The four-factions would be-

The Western European Union- high-tech and powerful, the Union deploys strong mechanised divisions, VTOL airforce and good firepower.

Eurasian Co-prosperity sphere- more of a balanced traditional force, relies on Helicopters as air force.

Asian-Pacific Alliance- numbers, APA units are often weaker but swarm their enemies. Cheaper units.

Zulu Empire- Guerilla style tactics they can also turn enemies into mutants and use chemical weapons. They have witch-doctor medicine to heal their units.

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on my Basilisk idea?

Because I'm thinking of reconceptualising it with the same factions but some new stuff.

Posted by: Serialkillerwhale 29 May 2015, 17:18

I had an idea called "Rising darkness" where in some way or other, yellowstone blows a casket and plunges the world into what's basically nuclear winter.
Solar doesn't work, wind barely works.

Enter the war to keep all the fuel for your people and possibly last through to see the sun rise again.

NOTE: Canadians automatically don't need fuel as we're used to the cold.

Namely, your average candian has a thick pelt of hair across their body, which they traditionally use the sap of the maple tree to harden into a protective shell against predators such as the polar bear and walrus.

hahaha, sounds good.

How's the action move RTS idea going. I was especially looking forward to Task Force Awesome, the Cabal and Cultist unit lists and seeing how you'd designed each faction.

Posted by: Serialkillerwhale 30 May 2015, 11:14

Fairly well. The cultists faction starts out sneaky, but as the game goes on, becomes less so as their more obivious horrors come into play and their leaders become mutated messes.

So my idea was that the turn of the century brought Y2K, yes I know someone's gonna be like- but Y2K would never have happened. Essentially, Y2K caused a collapse in order, a collapse in the financial markets and the loss of billions of files of data.

Chaos engulfed the globe and riots broke out in many cities. As society broke down, a strange new metallic yet fluid element began to grow across the globe. Morphing over the ground, buildings and flora it began to spread. Believed to have grown out of some sort of technological holocuast caused at the break down of Y2K. As the Crystalline plague grew, it was referred to as Critherium.

A new group, the Acolytes emerged out of this Chaos. Claiming that Critherium was the answer to all of humanity's problems. They appeared changed and mutated by Critherium. Many of their body parts glowed blue and their eyes nothing but blue. Within their armies were mutated creatures, changed by the Crystal. Some were grown in the vats of Critherium, others mutated by the spreading plague. The Acolytes spread to many parts of the world and built cities on once infected fields and began to spread their ideology.

But elsewhere, outside of the control of the Acolytes, the Critherium was still spreading. Out of the shadows stepped the Order; a secretive group that commanded PMCs, governmental agencies and national armies. They secured many of the impoverished cities that had not fallen to the Crystal. Spreading supplies and soldiers across the world. Their armies secured the peoples from the Acolytes and their forces.

The Order and Acolytes were locked in conflict, their troops fought and secured many territories.

However, another force appeared, the Phantoms. In communities across the world, isolated and angry. They did not wish for technology to return and anything beyond Radio was considered to be an abomination.

As such, the 3 Factions now wage war for control of the Earth and its destiny.

The Order's forces, covered in Black Armour operate on a very powerhouse-based playstyle. Their units are a mix of modern weapon systems such as the Buratino, Gepard (I know its being phased out), and M109 with futuristic prototypes and uber tanks. Their Chinooks deploy thumpers which cause the Critherium to recede and force it to the surface.

The Acolytes are a mix of human soldiers (albeit mutated) with mutants that focus on strength in numbers. Their vehicles are Critherium constructs and often pilotes by an Acolyte or mentally controlled. They can build a single shrine on top of a Critherium field, which spreads it further and generates resources. They can also build their buildings on top of Critherium, but only a single shrine can be built per field. They focus more on ranged and horde warfare.

The Phantoms utilise old weaponry, particularly from WW2 and the Early Cold War. This includes Goliath Tracked mines, Chafees and their epic unit the Maus. The Maus is a reward for Phantom players who utilise hit and run tactics early to mid game. This allows them to build up to the Penultimate unit the Maus, which helps break through the enemy. They build Combine harvesters which are piloted by workers in Hazmat suits. These Combine Harvesters deploy their gathered resource at the Refinery which destroys it.

I already made the concept of factions, worlds and Hero units for a ZH mod I might develop in the future. It can be seen http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=7657.

I must say it is certainly very detailed.

On that I had some more design ideas for my Second Depression Idea.

GLADIUS- Greys and Blacks, very totalitarian, powerhouse, RIOT police on steroids sort of feel. Early game units include MRAPs, Riot soldiers etc. later units include flying Drone Carriers, Landship-like tanks and Exoskeletons. Their tanks and vehicles are sleek looking and they have powerful support aircraft.

Syndicate- Green is main colour, various gas masks, punkish haircuts, lots of bright fluro and neon colours. Some also wear Orange Jumpsuit pants. Mutants range from Junkies, who are affected by the various street drugs, to hulking Behemoths. This Mutants are your answer to heavier units along with RPG armed gangers. These guys lack any vehicles except for attack bikes.

The Patriots- Lots of Red, White and Blue painted on their vehicles. Their units have American stars and striped painted on them in various parts. Flak jackets and Baseball caps are common sights among these guys. Their vehicles are buses, bulldozers and cars along with other vehicles all converted into weapons of war. There are also Patton tanks available at later levels.

The New World Army is the one I'm having the most trouble designing. They'll have hackers and crossbow armed snipers. Suicide bombers and Remote-controlled cars armed with explosives are also part. They also use various swords etc. Their main unifying look is their hoodies and general anarchist design.

Just bringing back this thread after I had another idea.
This one channels a bit of Tiberian Dawn mixed with a near-future setting between the World Order, Globalist GCN and the fundamentalist, mysterious Advent.

The Financial uncertainty of the 2016-2018 period saw a fluctuating market and a nervous World Order as the economic powerhouses of the world looked nervously at the Developing World’s growth and economic instability spread across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. As China’s stock market struggled and the Eurozone faced almost certain collapse, the failure of the UN to mediate crises disillusioned many of the powerful nations of the World. As the close of 2017 drew near Australia, Canada, US, UK, Germany, Nigeria, South Africa, France, Russia, China, Brazil, India, Switzerland and Japan met in Geneva to form a new summit, the Global Council of Nations, which accounted for the economic and military superpowers of current world order.

The GCN essentially allowed the Council Nations to dictate to the developing world their terms, and established a GCN monopoly on natural resources, opening Africa, South America and the Middle East to GCN country corporations. Rising anti-Globalist sentiments in the Developing World coupled with the emergence of the Advent religion, an ideology dedicated to the overthrowing of the World Order and the ascendance of humanity through the usage of new energy sources and the destruction of the Capitalist system. The GCN developed its own military force, capable of projecting a GCN mandate and staffed by GCN nation troops and PMCs, called Task Force Olympus equipped with the latest technology, vehicles, weapons, ships and aircraft from their member states. The equipment includes the Russian Kamov KA-52 Stealth Helicopter, the Canadian/German Leopard A7 MBT, the American M109A7, the Chinese Z-10, the Russian PAK-FA, the American M1A2SEP Abrams and the Fennek.
Task Force Olympus was designated as a top priority, and large amounts of funding and equipment as well as manpower was directed towards it. The aim is to have the capability to deploy from Forward Operating Bases in any member state and currently the infrastructure is in place in all countries but France, Canada and Japan. The GCN’s first real threat came in Pakistan in 2019. Populist leader Emarn Khan ascended to Pakistan’s Presidency and declared a new age of Secularism and democracy, hoping for entry into the GCN. However Hardliners within the ISI and military as well as Tribal and Terrorist militias unleashed a campaign of violence across the country which culminated in the detonation of a dirty bomb in the Capital Islamabad. Following the deaths of many of Pakistan’s legislators, the Rebels seized key towns, highways, cities and refineries and it was feared the Loyalist forces protecting Nuclear weapons would fall quickly. The instability saw the GCN vote 14-0 to intervene in Pakistan from FOBs in Afghanistan and India, in order to ensure a stable Pakistan. The pincer movement routed the rebels and besieged Islamabad capturing Tribal and ISI leaders who attempted to flee the city. The GCN’s successful involvement saw Task Force Olympus expanded and split into several different Task Forces’ all under the umbrella of the GCN. These included Task Forces Olympus, Manticore and Osiris as well as others. However, the rise of the Advent on the horizon foreshadowed the clash of the Titans for control of the word.

The rise of Advent was all due to the successes of one man, Zachary Solomon. A former Climate Scientist, Solomon saw the rise of the GCN as the triumph of capitalism and the Fossil Fuel corporations, and a defeat for alternative energy. So he quit his job within the prestigious Science Academies of the World and travelled across the developing countries speaking of an “Advent” for humanity. An age where the “Rotting Carcasses of Globalist Capitalism and Oil Cartels are torn down and alternative energy and equality prevails”. His fiery declarations attracted many and made him the target of several assassination attempts, the most public a failed GCN drone strike which ironically struck an Oil Plant, the very edifice that Solomon was trying to strike down, causing a conflagration and killing over 300. As Solomon continued to spread the idea of Advent, many flocked to his side. Advent communities, powered by Suncatchers among other power generators began to grow in the developing world, prompting the GCN to deploy its troops into Libya, Tunisia and Egypt to stop Advent gaining a foothold in Northern Africa. The Advent have become governor in many developing nations Solomon, now presented as a Messiah had gathered two forces around him- The Faithful, who were comprised of Advent militias, armed with T-54s, Technicals, Rocket Buggies, Kaytushas and other light equipment, and the Inducted, who are armed with High tech weapons and equipment, including Magnetic rifles. Solomon’s forces are a mix of Anti-Globalists/Capitalists, Advent Zealots, downtrodden peoples, anarchists, echo-terrorists and African, Latin and Balkan Mercenaries, all fighting to defeat the GCN’s and Corporations Hegemony

An Advent attack on the GCN HQ in Africa in Johannesburg set the flames alight and unleashed war between the two forces. At present the GCN is making strong headway into the Balkans, toppling Advent governments and devastating their militias as well as pushing into Central Africa in a blitzkrieg. Advent has launched attacks at the European and Asian continents as well as established a sizeable presence in Mexico on the US border whilst rallying support from the populations of the US, EU and China.

Note: I didn’t really want to make either faction the good guys. As such whilst the GCN mostly represent the capitalist and secular countries (China and Russia excluded), they are exercising Hegemony over the world and utilising their monopoly over the world to strip the developing world of its resources. In contrast the Advent want alternative energy, human enlightenment and equality, but are also a conglomerate of disparate groups and should they win would most likely descend into civil war.

The Factions each have two subfactions which are as follows:
GCN (Heavier armour and firepower- Powerhouse faction):
Armour Command- Focusing on heavy armour, including experimental vehicles along with lots of helicopter CAS.
Tactical Operations- Mobility and special operations, this SF focuses on mobile firepower, Special Forces infantry and dominating air power.

Advent (More specialised guerrilla force, with weak stopgap Faithful units coupled with the Glass Cannon and high tech Inducted- lots of stealth and mobility):

Here's one I'm currently working on.

Year 2100, ten superpowers engaged in the new World War. Before the Third World War, however, many events fell into place.

The ten factions are as follows(Suggest tech trees and strategies for each faction!):

Dragon Empire(China, NK): Number-based faction. Uses incendiaries as lower tier weapons.
Eurasian Unitary Alliance(Former Soviet Union Nations): Uses nukes later game.
European Reich(Nazi Germany with Renaissance-era goals, with Occupied France and most of mainland Europe): Has homing plasma weapons as a sort of tech.
Indian Empire(India-led nations of South Asia): IDK yet.
Pacific Consortium(An alliance between South Korea and Japan with nations in SEA): Empire-esque units like mecha and drones.
World Confederacy(US, UK, ANZAC, Scandinavia, French Resistance(basically WWII Allies)): Use space weapons and also drones.
Imperial Republic of Israel(Biblical nations): They will mix Brotherhood of Nod with Order of the Talon. Militant Christians, explicitly. Powerful yet limited units.
Pan-Islamic States(Middle East): GLA-like, only more high-tech looking. Still uses chem warfare.
African Federation(Africa): Later gains Microwave tech given by the US before the war.
South American Liberation Force(South America): Somewhat terrorist-like, except more organized.

Then 5 bonus factions! (Happens approximately 50 years affter the Third World War)
The Technocracy(An international technologically advanced society): Uses the best tech. Earth based. Has really powerful units and weapons that allow it to stand against the 4 magical factions.
The Cult of the Apocalypse: One of the four magic factions. Ritualists instigating the apocalypse.
The Echelon of the Holy Will: One of the four magic factions. The Forces of Heaven invading Earth.
The Legion of Torment: One of the four magic factions. The Forces of Hell invading Earth.
The Ancient Alliance: One of the four magic factions. Ancient pagan alliance based on ancient myths.

Sorry, triple post.

An old idea of me from reddit long ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/commandandconquer/comments/89p3wo/why_did_the_soviet_tank_in_red_alert_123_more/dx086vb/

It's about a RTS idea which follow CoH formula with some C&C style and some new mechanic in it.

Lore: The story take place in 1929 where the economic downfall ruined everything inside USA. Many group of secret Cultist started to wage a war against human as they see this is a perfect opportunity to test their doomsday device - The Eldritch End Device.

It's rather long so I would separate it into a few post.

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 12 Feb 2019, 3:15

Part 1

-Idea: My mod idea took place at America in 1929 during the Great Depression. A group of Lovecraftian cultist use the chaotic society as their advantage, they try to recruit as many people as possible but the government started to took notice by many reports from the investigator, polices, soldiers. Realizing they are hunting for any Cultist they decided to attack first in order to distract them in order to have enough time to activate a dangerous device that turn a large population of the Earth into eldritch abominations.
Mechanic:

+Line of Sight: http://www.ultimategeneral.com/blog/the-innovative-line-of-sight. The line of sight provide a lot of potential such as scouting, flanking, create more advantage at sneak attack. My mod idea also using this, each unit will have a very different line of sight shape and range.

Ex: Sniper have a very long sight range when deployed but their vision arc is less wider than other. Watch tower shine their light at a single spot, that's mean you cannot cover a wide area with just one tower and the enemy can get close to you without being notice since your.

+Melee Combat: DOW series use this but my idea require it as the Cultist faction relies heavily on melee combat while the human faction relies on long range bombardment and heavy firepower.

-Faction:

+Human(Powerhouse): The human consist of investigator, police and military. On tier 1 you have investigator, police and when you reach to tier 2, 3 you will have a full WWI military along with a few pre WW2 technology and some high tech weapon(supported by the Yithian alien). The human are very tough and heavy but only their frontal armor are strong, if the cultist flank or sneak attack you it will be very fatal since they can dish out high damage easily. Every units of this faction are very specialized, you have many individual upgrade to change their specialization but once you upgrade you cannot change their role again. It require you understand the situation in order to use the right upgrade.

+Cultist(Subversive): The cultist consist of cultist, alien and abomination. They have higher sight range than the human, deal more damage when flanking and they are extremly fast, the cultist use ranged weapon in the lower tier while on the higher tier they are very melee oriented but they will have more health and speed to compensate for this. On tier 1 you will have cultist, criminal, civilian vehicle. On tier 2 and 3 you will have alien technology and eldritch abomination with heavy resistance. The main advantage of the Cultist is their psychological war, some these unit are able to cause fear to the enemy and reduce their stat.

-Human Subfaction:

+Aegis Pact: After the attack of cultist on America the other cultist groups around the world also join in. Every part of the world under their attack. This situation force America, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, Russia to make an alliance in order to repel them. Each members must contribute some of their force in order to support the member countries when the situation become dire.
This subfaction are mainly infantry based. You will have more options for your infantry. You will gain access to the foreign unit like:

.British Trapper(a mine planter unit who have a lot of experience during WW1): This upgrade is for the Worker, turn the worker into the specialized unit. They worked like the COH British Sapper. Accessible at Tier 2.

.French Colonial Troop (veteran soldiers who fight at Indochina and African colonies): Upgrade the normal soldier into a better version with more health and damage. They also have the ability to swap into Bayonet Charge. This ability give them more movement speed and attack speed. Accessible at Tier 2.

.Naval Bombardment(Japanese ships support): An ability for the officer. They are able to call naval bombarment at any destination in a wide area around them. Accessible at Tier 3.

.Commissar (Soviet officers who join the Russian Civil War in 1917-1921): An upgrade for officer. Increase more health and morale to the surrounding infantries. Accessible at Tier 3.

.Mauser 1918 T-Gewehr: Anti tank rifle made from Germany upgrade for Weapon Specialist. Since I don't want to overlap with grenade rifle and sniper rifle role so I decided to make them as the pure AT weapon. You have a longer range than grenade but your soldier can only shoot at the vehicle unit(or heavy abomination if the Cultist reach Tier 2-3). Accessible at Tier 2.

-Iron Hammer: When the Cultist bring out many big and heavy abomination capable of destroying vehicle like nothing the government started to realise this threat are on the scale of an civil war. They decided to use many vehicles as they have to deal with those threat.
This subfaction use a lot of vehicles in order to brute force their way to victory. In my idea they would have:

.Mark VIII: A heavy tank with a cannon and machine gun. Can only called by support power. They are somewhat like the Epic Unit from C&C. Can only fielded with 2 tanks most of the time. Accessible at Tier 3.

.M1918: A light anti infantry tank. Very light armored. Armed with a single machine gun to mow down infantry. Accessible at Tier 2.

.M1918 240 mm howitzer: Heavy artillery. Require Deploy. Accessible at Tier 3.

-Experimental Division: In order to find out the cultist weakness the government have spend a lot of money to hire many expert who have the knowledge of those Lovecraftian threat. One of those person was Thomas Stone, a scientist and a professor at the Miskatonic University. He is one of the few people who got mind swapped by the Yith. During his mind swap he is able to study in the Yithian Great Library under their watch. During his service in the government he had provide many different technologies that is very effective at dealing with the alien. One of his greatest invention is the Yithian Thunder Device, a powerful device capable of creating an electronic vortex that disable everything from a very far range.
This subfaction give you many cool technologies and a lot of firepower but those device are immobile, that's mean positioning are very important when playing this subfaction.

.Thunder Cannon: A long range cannon that burst out a powerful electronic charge at the enemy but it have a very high coldown. Accessible at Tier 3.

.Teleporter Beacon: Require 2 beacon. Can only work with infantry. Accessible at Tier 3.

.Hallucination Sprayer: Upgrade bunker with chemical sprayer. This chemical are based from the Yithian research on human and other aliens. Any biological unit(infantry, abomination, alien) who caught in the spray are immobile for a short moment. Accessible at Tier 3.

Truck: 6 slot. Can fire outside. When you upgrade the truck it will lose the ability to transport.
+Light mortar
+Machine gun
+Supply Steal: Drain the supply like the Vampire truck from COH Panzer Elite.

T2

Dark Young: Weapon: Tentacle. Very high health. Can punch vehicle really hard.
+Fear: Gain the ability to fear. Every enemy infantry around them will gain movement speed but their damage and attack speed will be reduced.
-Gone mad: Target infantry squad went mad due to mental breakdown and attack anything nearby and they gain attack speed and damage.
-Devour: Eat randomly one men in an infantry squad and gain health.

Mi-Go: Flyer. Weaponless.
-Capture: Capture randomly 1 men in the infantry squad and kill them.
-Lure: Mimic the human speech to lure them close to them. Worked with infantry squad. Once you cast on them the enemy player cannot control that squad. Mi-Go will be immobile while using this but they will have a very long casting range to compensate for this.

3-inch Gun M1918: AA gun. The Cultist have hijack these vehicle or pay a lot of money to take over some of the weapon facilities around America.

T3

Shoggoth: Very hight health and high damage but run slow. Deal a lot of damage to vehicle.
-Reshape: Reshape itself and become invisible when not moving.

Hound of Tindalos: Very fast and deal a lot damage but they are fragile and they can only attack infantry.
-Materialize: Instantly teleport Tindalos to everywhere on the map as long as you have the vision of that place.

3) Defense

Trench

Bunker: Normal Bunker, 6 slot. Change weapon based on the upgrade, lose the ability to contain troop if upgraded.
+Machine gun
+Flamethrower
+Rifle Grenade: Since the Cultist is lacking the ability of long range AT capability I decided to add them.

Wire Trap

AA Gun: Use the 120mm M1 gun. The cultist have spend a lot of money to bride the weapon manufacturer to sell it to them.

Trapezohedron Stone: A stone that turn any enemy nearby into madness and attack everyone nearby, if there are no unit nearby they will attack the stone instead. Those units gain more attack speed and attack damage. Build limit: 3.

Cosmic Portal: Only Build 1 at a time.
-Dimensional Rift: create a dimensional rift at any location on the map for a long moment. Enter the cosmic portal then appear at the end of the dimmensional rift or you can do the opposite. Beware that your enemy can do the same.

4) Superweapon

Ancient Obelisk: This alien device are capable of driving everyone into madness. When you activate this device every units of the enemy will lose their control and attack anything nearby for a short duration. Those units gain more attack speed and attack damage.

Meteor Caller: A special device that create a wormhole and an meteor will fall into the location and cause devastating damage. Inspired from The color out of space. This meteor are extremely poisonous and dangerous. Any infantry who caught around the crash will die instantly.

5) Final Weapon

Eldritch End: A powerful device that turn a large population on the Earth into an army horde of horrible abomination by releasing an energy wave over the whole Earth.

End of part 2

Another idea of mine is a weird scenario if WW2 never happened in 1939 but yet we still got 3 big sides: Nazis, Soviet, Allies (with Facist Japan as the new member for anti-Soviet purpose). My idea is that the Nazis and Soviet constantly annexing the Eastern Europe in an limited expansion without waging a total war with the Allies and with the case of Poland instead of a warning of intervention from the UK and France the Nazis and Soviet just freely devour them with a very fast blitzkrieg and the UK with France just stand there doing nothing except for building a bigger defense wall against the enemy.

After Soviet expanding to Asia and Nazis keep expanding on Africa without caring about the Western Europe a big tension happened between three sides as their colony constantly clash with the other. With the fear of Russia and China combined together to create a very strong threat which may threat America security in the future and they decided to make a temporary deal with Japan as Japan also facing a hard time dealing with Soviet in Asia. A new kind of Cold War slowly building up with Allies (UK, France, USA, Japan and the rest of Western Europe countries), Nazis (Italy, Spain, Nazis and any other Facist country in Europe), Soviet (USSR, China and the rest of Eastern Europe countries who is under Soviet control).

About their doctrine it will be very different from the common C&C doctrine we saw.

The Allies will be a combination of trench war on the defense with chemical gas, artillery, trench, fortification, machine gun, heavy infantry tank and on the offensive side it is fast cavalry tank with air force. Their playstyle would be turtling with heavy defense and keep bombarding the enemy with artillery until they get enough mobile offensive force and keep harassing the enemy until they surrender.

The Nazis will focus on blitzkrieg doctrine with fast tank, air force and mechanized infantry instead of elite infantry and heavy tank like CoH Axis. Their strategy is to wipe out both Allies and Soviet with the same old tactics before America arrived with the reinforcement and sign a peace treaty after that which allow them to control Europe continent completely without calling out America giant to crush them as they know they got less resource to wage a long termed war with the Allies. That's mean they will get no heavy tank even if they reached to the highest tier.

The Soviet focused on horde tactic and guerilla warfare which focused on geography advantage along with massing tank with medicore stat. Their victory come from overwhelming with tank spam with massed infantry.

All of the three faction will have some weird and gimmick technology since I liked the idea of RA1 with serious tone but still have some crazy invention along with it. Allies will have a wide range of chemical weapon, Nazis will follow a weird GLA tactic with stealing and looting supply from the enemy along with some technology like missile and jet, Soviet will have flame weapon and use the harsh weather as their advantage.

As for the mechanic it will follow CoH combat and cover system but with many different things. You cannot build any unit or structure and you must call them off map, all of the upgrade and tech tree are upgraded from your interface only. Also, it will have a very simplified form of supply line, special unit called Supply Truck will automatically build without money and follow in a group and automatically chase your army group. Due to the fact you can only field a very limited amount of infantry team and vehicles with the very low population cap you will have a very big problem to protect the Supply Truck as they are very slow and become an easy prey to the enemy guerilla tactics. All of the unit in this game will automatically lose hp, firepower and other stat every seconds you need to get the Supply Truck to provide the healing aura to your army asap or otherwise your army will starved to death pretty fast.

Your victory come from capturing all of the strategic point on the map and those strategic point also heal very slowly any unit inside the area but you still need the Supply Truck as the heal is still very low which is only enough for a small group of units. Although there are plenty of supply crate across the map which heal a decent of amount of stat to your unit but they are very limited and it encourage you to use your fast unit to steal it from the enemy before they reached there first.

As for the other mechanics it will have some mechanics which affect the weather and weather resistance which reduce the debuff from the weather like snowstorm (slow unit and deal damage to infantry, Soviet have better resistance to winter), rain (reduce vision), sandstorm (slow the unit down to a snail pace).

I thought this thread died 2 years ago huh.gif

But great ideas. A later WW2 where all 3 sides have gained lots of advantage in a 3 ways coldwar is something new.

I really wonder if they last till the 60s, how far would German tech have progress. Probably gonna be even more ridiculous than in RA.

Maybe? If the period before WW1 teach me anything it's that nations can hold themselves long enough before they run out of colony and turned back to the European conflict instead of extending more. As my idea is to make Hitler satisfy with conquering the Eastern Europe while consuming more colony on the Africa and Middle East from the weakened France and Britain from WW1 while Stalin turned his view on Asian and steal the colony from the hand of the Japan. It would delay the bigger war a little longer since everyone is busy extending without facing each other directly on the European soil.

But since WW2 never happened Einstein will get his nuke faster while the Nazis and the Soviet will find some kind of way to steal that nuclear technology for their own use. By the time they get into a bigger tension all of them may either afraid of nuke with their nuclear testing and make prevent an all out war like NATO vs Soviet case or maybe they will went into a war and test their nuke and create a nuclear apocalypse from that point.

As for the Germany Wunderwaffe I can see how far their technology going on. Jet, rocket and other weird stuff maybe slowly creep into Nazis arsenal as there is no need to rush it into the production fast if there is no big war to push them to do it.

As for the Japan I decided to group them with the Allies since Japan don't have much chance to survive against Soviet or America industrial advantage so they either have to make a choice either by allying with America or the Soviet or get crushed instead. Since Japan and America have the naval and airforce advantage along with the use of lighter and faster tank I can see they are fitting well with each other doctrine.

Nice. How about making Hitler die just after rebuilding his nation? The Germans would revere him as a god, yet wouldn't lose easily due to the mistakes he made during the war.

I think that this war if ever end wouldn't result in complete removal of nazi Germany even if it was defeated. They have a much longer time to indoctrinate the people this time.

Thanks for the suggestion. By the time Hitler die he died his legacy would remain rather than having a total defeat and lose the Fascist status. beer1.gif

Anyway, time to throw out a very simple idea but fairly unique in term of theme: Gothic Horror Fantasy.

There are only 3 factions: Bloodhunt Empire, Eldritch Kingdom and Necropolis.

Bloodhunt Empire (Subversive): An empire ruled by the Vampire family who worship the Demon while the rest of the citizen are werewolf, cultist and other kind of living horrors who hunt human for blood or flesh. Their main mechanic revolve around life drain, paying their own health to use powerful ability and eating human prey to increase their life. They are basically predator who hunt for the living prey. They are very fast due to their hunger and their thirst for blood but very fragile as they got a bad habit of paying their own life or the need of going melee to drain blood and eat flesh.

Eldritch Kingdom (Cannon/Turtle): The human worship the Eldritch One, the human here is actually very insane as they are either lose their sanity when they worship their god or they are crazy alchemist/scientist with dangerous creation like Jekyll & Hyde, Invisible Man or some nasty weapon like flamethrower which killed the user by accident. Their technology are varied but unreliable and they are the only good thing which protect them. The human which worshiped the Eldritch God are get powerful magic but at the cost of their sanity, the ruler of the kingdom are master of those magic but they can easily went mad if they use too much magic and kill their own ally in accident. Their main advantage lies from their long range firepower with gun, flamethrower, eldritch magic or in some case they are also good at going melee if they are Hyde but they are very slow and fragile. Basically you need to turtle and defense your fortress with like the ECA.

Necropolis (Powerhouse): The undead city who are ruled by necromancer and on the lower level of the society are scientist who use Frankenstein technique to create an undead abomination and the puppet crafter who make creepy puppet inspired from the dead person. This city main form of army are zombie who are soldier and ghost who are spy and harasser. Their tactic are simple, spam zombie, puppet and Frankenstein while using some ghost for harassment.

The story is simple: A dark Victorian fictional world inspired by Mtg Innistrad and Bloodborne theme, the special thing about this place is that there is only night and three moon cycle: White moon, Blue moon and Red moon. White moon buff the Human various stat, red moon make Bloodhunt become very bloodthirsty, blue moon make the Undead become more tanky. Each of the three factions are fighting for a different target: Bloodhunt wanted to satisfy their hunger, Human wanted to convert more follower for their Eldritch One, the Necropolis wanted more corpse for their slave and labor.

The real unique thing here is the mechanic: you have to get your money by hunting prey or gathering corpse. There are three kind of resources: money, living units/prey (aka neutral civilian and animal) and corpse. Each side need one different kind of resources to generate money.

Bloodhunt need to kill living units/prey to get money, everyone of them are the 'harvester', each time any of their units killed a prey or enemy living unit they will get money, this allow them to keep hunting and eating. Some of their unit also drain blood which doubled as a money source and a walking heal for you.

Necropolis wanted corpse, corpse only appeared after a prey is dead or any kind of living unit is dead. Many of their units can harvest corpse while some of their units interact with the corpse like necromancer and ghost which revive the dead instead.

Human convert the civilian to follow their eldritch faith. It basically you got a Priest who do a job of a harvester, you meet a civilian then that civilian will follow the Priest to the church and you get money.

Note: Some of they prey can fight and it will attack you if you attack them. So good luck killing them while getting a few wound from them. cool.gif

My next idea is the four factions continue from the Yuri's Revenge story which have a very clear playstyle just like Rotr:

-EU (Turtle): Western Europe and their colonies. Trait: Kinetic based weapon, Railgun, long range weapon, EMP and Force Shield. They rely on long range and static defense to protect themselves. They are extremely specialized but their firepower are massive and long range but it come with the cost of being fragile. Many of their weapon are pragmatic feel as they are purely kinetic based from gun to artillery.

-Allied (Subversive): USA, Latin America, Japan along with other Pacific countries. Trait: Laser, Prism, Orbital Strike, Chrono, Weather technology, Psionic tech, Stealth technology. Their unit are extremely fast with Chrono tech, amphibious and full of air support. Their favorite tactic is precision strike with energy based weapon like laser, prism and orbital strike along with stealth for maximum efficency. And since they are able to learn the psionic tech of Yuri prisoner they are able to make a small psionic army leading with Yuriko Omega.

-GLA (Horde): Middle East and Africa. Trait: Chemical weapon, scavenging, hijacking, stolen technology, stealth, bio tech (by scavenging the Yuri left over technology). They are extremely cheap and fast but fragile as well, like the Generals GLA they got no air force except for the support power as they are lacking technology. They also got a boost in form of hijacking, virus and mutation by scavenging the remaining of Yuri left over tech in Africa.

-Soviet (Powerhouse): China, USSR, India along with other Eastern Europe and Asian countries. Trait: Nuclear, Tesla, Flame Weapon, Cyborg. They are basically brute force with cheap infantry on low tier and heavy tank on the higher tier.

Story:

EU: After the defeat of Yuri army the Allied went into a bad relationship. West European colonial power disliked the idea of letting America ‘liberating’ their colonies which basically mean stealing the control of it to America hand. Europe decided to split themselves out after the negotiation failed and created the EU for themselves which making an agreement to protect their own interest and keeping a firm control over their colonies. Fearing that the Soviet might come after them again they decided to build a strong defense at their front to keep the enemy at bay. Although they don’t have the technology advantage of the Allied they are still able to build up their own technology for themselves which focused heavily on defense in order to protect themselves and their colonies.

Allied: Without the good relationship with Europe, America decided to change their view point into the Far East instead. After defeating Japan many of the countries in the Pacific are afraid of the rise of the new China with more power and influence over the Pacific. In the thirst for keeping the superpower status the Allied started to expand to the Pacific and the Asia before the China does. With Einstein staying in America and the event of pulling back most of the important technology from the previous war the Allied are still able to keep the Prism and Chrono technology for themselves. By scavenging the left over technology from the Yuri they continue the research of the psionic tech which leads to some limited result.

Soviet: After suffering a major blow before Yuri army was defeated Russia need to recover for a long period. Meanwhile China becomes the rising power in the Asia which is facing the America along their way. In order to deal with both the Allied and EU, Russia and China make an alliance in order to keep them away from their influence zone. By interfering into India they broke free from British and becoming a part of the Soviet alliance.

GLA: While the other three factions are busy doing their arm race the rest of the colonies are preparing their global revolution to liberate themselves from their master. The GLA was the result of years of oppression and colonization. Even though there are many other revolutionary branch they are completely different, their goal and their siding are different as well. The GLA is the most extreme branch among them, they are filled with extremist and religious zealot and they hate all of the three sides and they are willing to use any kind of tactics no matter how much immoral it is. Chemical, sabotage, hijacking, scavenging, the GLA do all of it. With the addition of scavenging the remaining of the Yuri technology they are able to recreate the bio technology along with the virus weapon.

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 13 Mar 2019, 3:24

Btw I forgot to talk about their doctrine branch as well. Each of the factions got 2 doctrines like how the sub-faction is.

Allied
-Rapid Deployment: Put the mobility theme to the extreme.
-Experimental: Use the gimmick technology like cryogenic, hacking and magnetic for various purposes (they also use the magnetic tech from the Yuri).

EU
-Fire Support: Utilize the long range advantage of the army.
-Fortification: Heavy defense and fortification.

GLA
-Scavenger: Use the looting tactics and recycle destroyed vehicle to overwhelm the enemy.
-Terrorism: Use bio weapon, mutation chemical and suicidal tactic to cripple the enemy moral.

Soviet
-Hammer: Utilize the heavy tank and heavy infantry.
-Sickle: Use infantry horde tactic along with propaganda.

Another part of mine idea is a futuristic war which have two faction: UN and World Revolt.

Lore: Long into the future the Earth become a united government with UN become the sole leader of the whole world. Even though plenty of people never like this idea many of times the UN already suppress any kind of objection with military oppression and beating up any kind of riot on the street (You can say they are very totalitarian). And due to the amount of poverty due to the globalization a new unified faction were created as the same as Generals GLA - the World Revolt.

Normally the super power got a habit of doing 'divide and conquer' tactic to keep tier potential enemy distracted from them but this time there is an unknown organization who keep unifying and manipulating this Revolt army. This army is not just a normal bunch of ragtag terrorist but they are also backed with high technology stolen from the other developed country. Some of the conspiracy theory said there are many multi-cooperation who pour the money into this army and bribe the government to their manipulation for those technology.

Factions: Each of the factions got 3 sub-factions with 3 different doctrines and their own hero as well. (Since I haven't think of their name so I will only said their purpose and role).

UN:

-Rapid Reaction Force (Subversive): An army that make use heavily on air force, amphibious vehicle and special force. Their job is to quickly deploy their army into the designed target and complete their task as fast as possible. They are the highest mobility of all UN branches but they are also fragile and costly as their special force and air force are made for mobility purpose not frontal combat purpose.
Technology: Aviation, hover tech, aircraft stealth material and personal cloaking device (for special forces).
Hero: A flying jetpack hero armed with a missile launcher and a laser painter to call in orbital strike.

-Thunder Roar Division (Powerhouse): The frontal army of the UN force, they are 100% brute force. They field the heaviest tank, devastating support power with air strike and area denial weapon. The only problem with them is that they are slow and costly, they also extremely specialized and lack of a strong air force.
Technology: Vehicle armor material, heavy exo suit.
Hero: A cyborg with heavy armor armed with a cannon and a machine gun for anti-ground purpose but he is extremely slow and fragile against the air force.

-Eden Protector (Turtle): This faction make use of heavy fortification and artillery along with orbital strike to stop the enemy from afar. They are the faction with the worst mobility of all factions and they can be rushed very easily.
Technology: Orbital technology (orbital kinetic strike, orbital drop, satellite scan), nano tech (for healing purpose).
Hero: A heavy sniper who require himself to deploy to use, can one hit infantry and vehicle but he cannot escape from his death if the enemy found his position because he is too slow to move.

World Revolt:

-Global Insurgent (Horde): This sub-faction hold the highest quantity among all branches of the World Revolt. It is a combination of many terrorist groups and mercenaries around the world. Due to their large number and a huge support from the poor people of the poor region they don't have to rely too much on guerrilla warfare anymore. Instead they can field more number and massed cheap and outdated weapon for frontal combat (but they still need some good micro and harassment).
Technology: Technology acquired from hijacking and stealing, chemical weapon (virus, toxin, illusion gas, acid which reduce vehicle armor).
Hero: A terrorist who use a toxin RPG from a defected scientist who developed many of dangerous chemical weapon, this RPG can fire a different kind of chemical round.

-Geist Division (Cannon): An army who use stolen technology from other countries through blackmailing and bribery. It said they are rumoured to cause many assassination and hacking around the world. Their army have nuclear weapon stolen from other countries (the UN don't use much nuclear weapon anymore since they realized orbital strike are much effective and it doesn't cause any of radiation problem). Although they look like subversive but they make a heavy use of railgun and nuclear weapon which give them a lot of firepower for frontal combat.
Technology: Stealth, hacking, spying, railgun and nuclear weapon.
Hero: A young female hacker expert who got a huge bounty from the UN as she stole many of UN technology to support the Giest Division army. She is armed with a personal cloaking device stolen from the UN and she can also temporary disable the enemy vehicle and structure along with stealing the money from the enemy structure. Basically she is a Black Lotus.

-Psionic Army (Technical): Although the UN government used to think of an idea of psionic army but the blueprint and the related data was stolen before the story even started. Turn out it was the Geist Division who developing them in the hidden facility in Antarctica with the use of various chemical to enhance their power. This psionic army are very fragile and lack of mobility as they are experimental psionic infantry. You will have to rely heavily on their special ability from mind control, levitation and mind reading to defeat the enemy as they lack a direct damage unit.
Technology: Psionic infantry, psionic weapon (Mind control, levitation, pryokinetic)
Hero: A female psionic who are able to mind control many person at once due to her powerful gifted psionic power. Geist Division are afraid of her as they keep an eye on her in case she might rebel and mind control the whole facility and turn it against them.

How about a game where:

- 1 faction is the traditional balance that build base and troops to attack and are able to grow stronger the longer they last without any artificial cap, but with strict pop limit. So yeah, an infantry could beat a tank easily if you let it live too long and kill too many of your stuffs. And god helps you if it's a veteran super heavy tank, as they will get range, AA and ROF bonus. Units gains exp even without active combat, abeit slowly. Upgrades to get better bonus and faster veterancy.
- Another is about getting better units, and bigger pop, faster, more efficient production the more powerful your enemy become, and is play through micro skill alone as all theirs production buildings have onboard defenses, and no need to build extras.Theirs units is all about fucking theirs opponent strategy up in team games, but bad in straight forward equal battles.
-A faction who have no limit on numbers but are hardpressed by lack of resources. Theirs play is not about beating the enemy head to head but accumulating lots of cash while holding the line to throw in "General's powers". Which destroy armies and lock down theirs production capabilities. To balance it out, they can't destroy enemy base with GP spam but can stop them from doing anything. No artillery or mortars, but base defenses have long range by default.

I haven't decide the theme for this one yet, but alternated WWII or something like RA should be neat. There is hardly any game that went for complete asymmetrical playstyle, and the ones that are aren't my taste.

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 7 Apr 2019, 9:58

I used to think an idea where there are only 2 factions which are turtle in the different style like ECA and Russia. Basically both of them are able to scale into the late game easily buth the main different is the Turtle scale a little better. My idea was to make both factions suit heavily for casual play as it allow them to turtle both factions from start to end. Although you got some fast unit but they are very limited in number and only good for harassment and you cannot build a whole army of fast unit as they sit on the higher tier and somewhat costly to make.

-Turtle factions: Low health but high firepower and long range and strong static defense but weak when attack as they are slow and low health. Weak early game as they are slow to produce unit and they have to rely on static defense which can be exploited easily when opponent can slip through the crack of your defense and defeat you from inside. But once you cover all your defense and opponent are unable to find any weak spot in your defense they will get bombarded to death with artillery and long range weapon.

-Powerhouse faction: Come with big tank and heavy infantry later on but cheaper infantry in the early and can beat the Turtle faction early as the whole building defense part took plenty of time which open some big hole to let you slip in with an army and crush everything inside.

The best scenario for this is WW2 British vs Naxis are CoH Brit got Turtle style while Naxis got heavy tank. The setting will be a battlefield where America doesn't participate in that campaign.

Speaking of turtle, ECA in ROTR used to be winning via defenses crawling alone and was changed because that didn't work well for ZH.

However, an entire game about turtling, harrassment and stunt locking is a neat idea if do well. We can have both factions as turtlers but they works in completely different ways.

For example. building trenches and have an upgrade that add infantry and AT gun in them. Then the other faction get to use the turret of a damaged tank into a makeshift fortified cannon. One faction can air drop construction materials from the air to build stuffs anywhere why the others can just scrap any of theirs unit, pay some extra and deploy it into a permanent base defense as a desperation move. Maybe with a mechanic where you can capture your enemy unit, and put them to work as material and labor force.

On the siege department, energy shield is generic and boring. So how about having some kind of improvised defenses that bounce and deflect the shots back? I know it's unrealistic, but should be fun.

1 faction can dig tunnels to get in close with the enemy and crack the walls with a battering ram type of unit and supress defenders with some kind armor debuff weapons. The other will defeat them in a different way. Logistic. By going around denying theirs money and infiltrations. The aim is to delay theirs ability to get anything like a nuke out, but it will also backfire on you if fail. The money you need to shut your opponent off could have gone to your army, so think twice before doing that.

To counter it, that one faction will have a late game upgrade that will make them completely self sufficient and deny the terrain and map advantage. The result is a very slow, costly but assured victory for the patience.

Base crawling is nice, but using every units to make base anywhere on the map is even better.

I'm planning a mod that's essentially Rise of the Reds except it's put into the blender with Crazy Mod, https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6948148/1/A-Fourth-World-Country-in-The-War-of-Three-Powers, Mental Omega, and anime. The ridiculous setting gives me a lot of leeway for implementing stuff without caring too much about the background reasoning of it.

Anyway, aside from the main five factions, there are seven more I have in mind. Three of those are time travelers from the future, time travelers from the past, and time travelers from a different present—the last of which I'll elaborate on as I've recently figured out a neat gimmick for them.

Their army is mostly subpar without much compensation compared to GLA which has salvage and China with horde bonus. Instead all of their usual units refund 120% of their costs upon death. You might think that they're supposed to snowball in recursive size and end up overwhelming the enemy with sheer numbers, but a decent player could put up enough of a defense to ignore the pathetic army. No, I only said that their arsenal is mostly subpar. All that extra cash goes to funding powerful, expensive and grandiose super units. The higher your rank becomes, the stronger and more expensive ones become available to you. Of course, the lame 90% of the army still has its use as cannon fodder and gap-filler while your megatank/superbomber/living legend breaks through the defense line and allow your army to flow into the enemy base.

Think of the Rebel Army from Metal Slug, they have tons of cannon fodder you annihilate relatively quickly then get thrown against powerful machines of war as boss fights. This faction is inspired by the Contra mod, where players have their tech tree limited by rank and have access to superweapons and almost game-ending epic units by Rank 5.

EDIT: Wow my account is older than I thought.

Call me a filthy weeb but I used to find a good world building setting to support my fetish of Japan. This idea is a space scifi but it make thing very conventional like Battlefield 2142 technology design with no energy weapon but a lot of kinetic weapon due to the lore of this story.

Factions:
-Japan (Turtle)
-Russia (Powerhouse)

Lore: Long into the future the humanity found out about the warping technology which allows them to jump from a far distance but it is somewhat unreliable as it can send them into a wrong place if the accident happened. Some of the nations started to test that theory but sometime accident happened, two of those are a Russian and a Japanese ship.
Both of them arrived onto an unknown space which forced them to rebuild their society from what they have on their own space ship. After a long time both side started to go into a fight for the sake of colony and expansion.

The Russian are the one who come first to this unknown galaxy since their warping accident happened first. Their data bank inside their space ship hold many old knowledge about weapon technology including the nuclear weapon (except for the fact the amount of uranium in this universe is very low so they have to expand a lot). Their government are pretty unstable as their government are currently stuck in a struggle between 2 sides: Capitalism and Neo Communism. Their weapon technology got some new tech like Tesla , EMP, cyborg and super heavy tank prototype as they existed inside the data bank along with older weapon like chemical weapon, nuclear and flame weapon. Their doctrine are mostly the same as RA2: Brute force with massed infantry and heavy armored unit along with those special weapon to support their army as their colony terrain are often wide open which don't support static defense but a mobile army is a much better defense. Their super weapon is nuclear missile but they are build with a small number as the uranium in the galaxy is very low so they need to be careful with it and their rocket technology is still limited with the amount of resource around their colony. Although some of their unit use depleted uranium weapon but it is costly and they can use it because their is no fear of nuclear World War 3 scenario like the Cold War problem happen here as the Japan never hold the nuclear technology here.

Meanwhile the Japan ship come later but with some more high tech and among their population there is a descendant of the royal bloodline from Japan (but the constitutional monarchy already got replaced with the republic long ago). When they first build up their new government they put him as the new Emperor but he is only used as a symbol as the country as he only hold a small friction of power inside the government. But soon a new political side are willing to give the royal more power which clashed with the other party who wanted to remove the royal as it is a bad idea to repeat the past. With the colonization they got enough resource to build some of their technology inside their data bank while the other is still out of their reach as they are still a long road far from it. Their technology are drone, railgun, stealth and nano heal technology. And the last technology are feasible in here are psionic tech due to the fact they found a rare natural chemical on a planet which can mutate people with psionic power. Although that chemical is somewhat unreliable as it can kill people if using too much but the government are willing to use it after their exploring army clashed with the old Russian by accident. After seeing the existence of Russia in this galaxy they realized they are not alone, after many failed attempt to steal the nuclear technology they designed their own super weapon instead - Kinetic Orbital Satellite which can bombard an area with tungsten rod from the space. Their doctrine favor defense because they know they can't face frontal against the Russian tank and their colony terrain favor narrow path and choke point defense their army become a mix mash of long range defense and mobile stealth unit for harassment.

Note: My idea exclude mech walker since I never was a fan of walker unit no matter if it is Tiberian Sun or Gundam or anything else. It feel weird for my own taste. There will be no space samurai as well but there will be ninja with personal cloaking device because I feel it fitting for a special unit version like Spetnaz while being pratical to some small degree. As for robotic unit it will be like drone of Rotr USA. My design aim for scifi with more conventional and more realistic and serious feel with the unit. Although anime waifu existed but it will be like Mental Omega where psionic individual as the experimental unit special force. My idea for Japan heroin will be a psionic sniper like SC2 Nova with mind control and the ability to call Orbital Strike like Tatical Nuke since Japan only have Kinetic Orbital weapon while the Russian hero will be a cyborg and call Nuclear Missile strike since he got the authority to call for it.

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 9 Apr 2019, 9:40

Second note: My idea for the Japan faction are consist of 2 parts: the majority are the turtle part like ECA with low mobility long range defense and fortification, the other part is a small section of high mobility stealth units which can also acted as a mobile defense due to the fact they can drop mines anywhere to slow down the enemy advance or harass the enemy to slow down enemy army production.

And the Russia is just like RA2 carbon copy: Open the match with cheap infantry and end up with heavy tank and tanky armor infantry with a plenty of area denial weapon.

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 9 Apr 2019, 10:08

My inspiration of the space ninja would be like this: https://www.deviantart.com/harry-the-fox/art/RAZ-Allied-National-Showcase-1-319091900

Space samurai always feel impractical to me but a stealth assassin with a sword can be somewhat ok since ninja got mobility and assassin skill to compensate with the sword melee range and they can throw smoke grenade to temporary blind the enemy and they can be at least good at assassinate some infantry to infiltrate into a targeted area (just look at WW2 where any gun can mow down katana charge like nothing). I would call ninja is an inferior version of modern special forces because of their melee range disadvantage.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're hogging this thread for easy attention. However it turns out that the EDIT button disappears after some time. Still, I suggest consolidating your information before posting, so you don't have to quadruple post in the same span of time (because the EDIT button disappeared).

About the faction I mentioned in my previous post, I forgot to add that the super expensive epic units, unlike the rest of their arsenal, obviously don't refund any amount of their costs whatsoever (that would be very dumb).

How coincidental that you bring up Japan. At least yours is more serious in tone than mine. In fact my entire project started from pondering about a "Japan Waifu General" as a joke and then thinking about how actually implementable the idea is. Inspired by the Elite Assault Felines mod (image links https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/43100502706114324/775DC7B7F65A0BD7650C50367E66E49D449EBEBC/, https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/43100502706121527/A8018BD8A46E4028CADF3D91DBA52B96DBBD2E2F/, https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/43100502706283696/8430019DE2F6C21E498574956BECD7A55C7BF7CD/) for Cortex Command, they're initially glass cannon catgirls who specialize in lightning-fast infantry raids. They would have access to a Charm ability that shuts down infantry a targeted area (or at least heavily reduce their firepower). As time went on and I developed ideas for the other factions and generals, my notes for this one became "different flavors of anime girls, multiple debuff/support abilities." Then I dumped it onto the backburner, I'll come back to it when I have more funny-yet-functional ideas after I'm done with the other factions.

Space Samurai can be practical if your setting is like Warhammer 40k and allows melee combat to be viable. Outside of the battlefield they would be imposing police figures and merchandising fuel. In the battlefield they would have really powerful armor and become capable of cutting down infantry and vehicles with equal ease, but they have no range as a drawback for being both anti-infantry and anti-vehicle at the same time (all that regenerating nano-armor means they don't have room for ammo). Unless you also include bowman samurai, who probably have explosive plasma arrows with thinner armor as consequence.

It would work if you bend the world building rule and setting to your own wish. It just how much bend and designing you want for your own idea as everyone got their own taste.

I wanted to have Japan faction and anime waifu stuff but I don't want to make another RA3 Japan which I treated it as a badly designed one. I finally decided to look around the other C&C mod for some good design and took some of the elements and put it together (Shinobi from RA Zero, Libra from Mental Omega, Nova from Startcraft 2). The result was something come out of the Tiberium War GDI in term aesthetic but with some Japanese elements inside it.

I used to think of an anime magical girl vs monster RTS but I can't design it as it would lead to one faction being 100% hero based faction which I never designed something like that and the other faction are another version of Zerg with horde of small minions and big boss monster. Beside, this idea would get a lot of flak since I know plenty of people hate anime waifu and other weebo stuff.

Don't shoot yourself down too early, there ARE people who like anime waifus and weeb stuff, it's just that they're in a completely different demographic sphere so you just need to reach them. At least you'd have a fan in me because I like anime novelty things. In fact if you have any ideas for anime RTS units, that would be great I can see the magical girls playing like the Protoss (high quality units, very expensive) to contrast the monster's cheap Zerg hordes. In Shonen, magical girls, and Tokusatsu shows there's always the horde of mooks before the main villain of the episode.

But uh I notice you go for design while I focus on mechanics (and dress it up however I wish).

Thanks GuardianTempest. happy.gif

I never though I would got another anime fan here. I know people got their own reason for hating anime but there are people who love anime as well, I don't think this kind of hatred will ever stop tbh, the demographic different is quite a big problem when people keep throwing rage at each other on daily basis.

As for the magical girl idea my initial idea is that the magical girl will be played as hero units and they will be categorized and specialized into classes to make the new player feel more easier to get used to controlling them:

+Tanker: All of their ability are made for frontal combat ranging from protection spell to self heal and lifesteal. Their job is to hit hard with high damage and being tanky to absorb damage. They are slow as the result.

+Cannon: They are focused on long range high damage spell and other debuff ability from long range to support your army.

+Support: They are long range support as well except they buff ally instead of being offensive like the Cannon class. Some of them can also summon minion and use aura spell to support them.

+Assassin: High mobility high burst damage but low health and once their surprise attack failed they should better run or died fast.

I haven't think much of the setting but the design would be asymmetric due to the playstyle and building.

-The magical girl don't build structure but they must convert civilian structure into building by a hero worker unit (like the Starcraft where you turn a gas geyser into a Refinery). Those building is just like normal structure where you build unit and upgrade. They are basically Protoss but with 100% hero unit. They don't have item but they can level up like normal hero and you can just us building upgrade to upgrade them if you can't kill enough enemy to level up (but you still need to farm). There are some neutral monster staying around the map like Warcraft 3 just for the sake of farming and both magical girls and monsters can kill them for money (since those neutral monster is like a defective army from the monsters main army).

-The monsters doesn't have a structure but the big boss are the mobile structure but move at a very sluggish pace. The big boss monster keep producing cheap unit while they are not moving and they are also the one who upgrade units and stuff. In order to prevent an easy rush option they have a very long deploy time before they can produce units, and since the magical girl faction convert civilian structure into building they can make their base anywhere which prevent them from utter defeat from the early game. At the late game their unit just keep getting bigger. In order to build a new boss monster for producing unit they need to produce a worker and it will morph into another big boss again. The flow would be like this:

Big boss monster -> produce worker -> another big monster -> produce units or upgrade unit -> repeat the loop.

-As the for the money source I would think of the idea of using living human as the living resource. Magical girl need to gather human and 'collect' them like collecting ore and send them into the building then produce new magical girl unit by transforming them into one (the whole process just happened inside the production structure).

-The monster meanwhile just eat human instead.

-Since I want something like a supply zone or an ore mining place I can think of a special structure where it spawn normal human in a rapid pace and you just need to go there and 'harvesting' them.

Kinda too immoral and evil if you asked me.

Interesting, a hybrid of RTS and MOBA. Or essentially MOBA but you control more than one unit. However the magical girls might lose the base race if their structures are attacked. You could diversify the cast by including other hero types like Tokusatsu (Kamen Rider, Power Rangers) and shonen brawlers. Heh, the fans will handle the lewds off-screen.

Hmm, what're your thoughts on my two ideas? Of course they're thematically weird and nonsensical as I intended them to be, but I was thinking on how they function (internal logic aside).

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 9 Apr 2019, 14:25

Hmm your idea seem ok since there almost no popular hero based RTS that is well known to us so there is not much a standard to judge your idea neither. But if you throw in something outside of magical girl you should make their art and theme consistence enough. It feel a little weird when you factions common theme and art aren't mashed well enough (imagine super grim dark art inside a cheerful art faction). Maybe a faction that consist of three different anime but they can cover some major parts of the faction roles with a consistence theme (Example: Anime A cover tanky hero unit section, Anime B cover fast unit section, Anime C cover long range combat and so on).

Having a consistence theme would make you feel easier to think how should they be designed and balanced. For example if you want to add a new hero into the faction you just need to know what role that faction are missing or that kind of style it should be (tanky, hit and run, defensive, etc...) and the common theme of it.

Posted by: GuardianTempest 9 Apr 2019, 16:18

Don't worry, I got that covered. It's easy to hunt down anime images that are thematically consistent enough. Besides, the idea evolved from "rapid assault catgirls" to "assorted anime girl types" as the theme of one general from a faction, among a few others. Another general is pretty much "Gundam: the faction" but there isn't anything interesting I can say about him. I will admit the remaining generals aren't as crazy. No, they're all crazy in their own ways except for one mundane general.

Your input is still useful though, because for the time being their overall faction's gimmick is "support abilities", from Generals Powers (e.g. Frenzy) to individual "caster" abilities (like Science Vessels, Defilers and Templars from Starcraft 1). Without that, they wouldn't be that much different from the others.

Story: One of my idea is a twist of RA3 time travel gone wrong. Despite erasing Einstein from existence the time machine face a weird technical issue that messed up the timeline as well, Cherdenko have to face a worst reality, America never joined the Allied. The Allied got disbanded, a new wave of Facist spread over Western Europe after an economic crisis hit the entire Europe, in the midst of the chaos a new European Union was created but they are filled with Facist who are leading by the Nazis Germany but there is no Hitler to command them. Plenty of smaller European countries have to face two choice: either become one with the Facist EU or become one with the USSR.

Meanwhile, Co-Prosperity Sphere of Japan are consuming the nearby region of China and the rest of South East Asian countries while the Europe faced the economic damage from RA1 war and the economic crisis before the EU got created. And the America still being neutral as there is no Roosevelt to save them from the economic downfall which make the government closing the door to the rest of the world business.

For a long time the three side just keep expanding their territory and avoid facing each other in a large scale war, USSR wrestling with Japan on China soil while expanding the Middle East. EU expanding the rest of Africa, Japan just keep creeping closer and closer to India as the British have to spread their colonial army all over the world for their colonies while handling their weakened economy.

Idea: This idea still keep the RA style of weird and unique tech but albeit with a more serious tone while having 3 factions: USSR, EU and Japan Empire.

Faction Design: Each factions will got their own distinctive technology to different them out completely. Note: each side air force are very different as each of them only use a single kind of air force (airship for EU, helicopter for USSR, jet for Japan).

-USSR: Horde and cannon. This factions doesn't have big tank, the big tank part now belong to the EU as I design them as a Nazi 2.0 with more high tech weapon. Without Einstein inventing the Nuclear weapon they have to rely on other mass denial weapon like flame and electricity weapon like tesla and EMP. They also got cloning tech and mass propaganda to support their horde tactic. Their super weapon is a napalm super artillery which are devastating to infantry and light vehicle with it's huge splash damage. Their air technology are helicopter. Due to the fact I move all of their missile technology to the Japan while the EU get all of the rocket now they only use kinetic weapon for anti-ground and flak weapon for AA (including their helicopter).

-EU: Powerhouse. They are the super heavy tank faction with railgun, rocket, satellite and exo-suit armor. Due to the fact they are extremely slow and costly you can rush them easily but once they got a huge tank army you can say gg. Their super weapon is the kinetic orbital strike with multiple random hit. It hit with the highest damage output but the area of damage is the smallest among all but it's compensated with many random strikes instead.

-Japan: Subversive. The Japan is a odd mix of high tech weapon and an extreme backward mindset with some of their weapon, their unit are extremely fast and mobile with jet, amphibious unit and stealth unit but they are also the most fragile among all. They got shinobi, psionic, drone and stealth, they also keep their suicidal nature with their upgrade which allow their vehicle to blow themselves up upon triggering and they also use kamikaze UAV as well. Their super weapon are a psionic device which deal no damage but steal all enemy units inside it's radius instead.

This alternated RA3 will have Group Zeal vs Terror tactics vs Suicide bombing. Nice twist.

Since this EU is nazi without Hitler, is Himler and the SS leading it? More religious occultism than killing commies? Or like Musolini's facism where it actually is reasonable?

I assume USA were enemy with UK and Canada. That would explain why Europe is under nazi rule and they still didn't care. By the time WW3 happen again it should have the entire America continent conquered and expanding over sea wouldn't be as important. A police state with a strong navy to make sure no one dares to take it is a good idea.

Well I think Himler would lead them, but since we got no Hitler we may not get the whole brutal genocide as we known, but one thing for sure: they all hate commies and Japan hate them as well. And unlike the normal Allied faction this EU is extremely aggressive which mean all 3 sides can be treated as the bad guys war scenario while our common good guy are facing a bad economic day at America without any strong leader like Roosevelt to pull them out of the misery.

Actually I used to learn about the future policy of America before WW2 happen, one of their policy is to fortify themselves in case Europe got crushed completely by either Hitler or Stalin. It's mean they will enter a full isolation mode if nobody bother to ally with them on Europe or Asia.

Another part of my idea is a simple scenario of human vs space Terminator.

Story: Into a far future a group of human colonist drive on an experimental spaceship in order to test the new warping technology. Although the other group of colonists succeed, this group got a bad luck due to the technical issue. And the next thing they known they got thrown into an unknown space, while they are rebuilding their new society and expanding their their colony they found an unknown group of alien machine army who are trying to kill all lifeforms they saw. Although the human cannot understand what are their purpose but they know they have to use stealth technology to hide all of their city and colonies against this army as they got zero chance against them in the frontal combat since they are just the new faction to this space and the Terminator outnumber and out resource them.

Factions:

-Terminator (Powerhouse): All of Terminator units name are just based on the description of the human side as they never have any intels about their enemy. The Terminator are very tanky and full of walker mech but their technology are lower than the human due to the fact they already killed the whole alien civilization whom created them from the first place. And the AI who are leading them doesn't have a brain of the scientist to invent new technology which mean their technology got zero improvement. Their weapon are made purely for brute force as they are programmed to do so. Laser, flamethrower, heavy armor, chemical weapon, their tactic was to crush any lifeforms with fire and toxic then glassed the whole planet with their laser satellite. Although they are slow and costly they are tanky enough to scare off any enemy who dare to face them. Their super weapon is a laser satellite capable of destroying the whole planet by thrusting the beam deep into the planet core to destroy it from inside to outside.

-Human (Subversive): The human are high tech but they have to reduce a lot of tech since they afraid they would be either hacker or being detected by the enemy. Their main technology are railgun, sub-terrain drill, stealth, magnetic, EMP and kinetic weapon but it come with silencer to reduce the noise to minimal. Their stealth are the greatest strength, if they can cloak their whole city or build up a network of underground city to hide from the Terminator you can pretty much guess they are the space version of Nod. They don't like to use energy weapon, missile and other kind of weapon which leave a trace or a sound to attract the enemy attention as they want to go silent as much as possible. Although they use automatic drone those drone are made for suicidal purpose or turning it into a minefield instead of long term combat purpose as they know the Terminator army capable of hacking into their system once they detected the signal or captured them. Their super weapon is an underground nuclear silo which hide themselves 24/7 and only show up once fired.

Here is a special scenario of a story where the focus of the story are on the Asian completely.

Lore: After the Allied and Soviet victory over the Yuri both of the economy suffer heavy damage as it was a costly and brutal war. While the Western are busy rebuilding their economy the three powers in the Asia started to fight for the domination over Asia: India, China, Japan.

Although the Japan lose against the America, after the war against Yuri America decided to support them with more weapon and technology as they want Japan to repeat their previous empire ambition and it's also a way to deal with the rise of China as they want to slow down the expand of China while they are rebuilding their economy by using Japan as their pawn. The Japan started to expand to South East Asia and South Korea while the European countries are losing their power and influence on their own colonies. As the America constantly indirectly support Japan the European members in the Allied factions threatened to cut off the ties as the ties with the America as they have to hopelessly lose their colonies to the Japan.

Meanwhile in India, the weakened British give the India a chance to free themselves from their former master. Although they are free they still try to establish a good relationship with the UK and Russia in order to receive the support in term of weapon and technology in order to deal with a rising China next to their border.

China are able to temporary stabilize themselves and head out to the next neighbor for their new expanding empire. By making a good relationship with the Russia they get many important technology to combat with the advanced Japan and the new independence India with the outdated weapon from RA1 but supported by a high population which rival them.

Factions:

China (Powerhouse): Use most of the Soviet weapon from YR like Nuclear, heavy tank and tesla weapon along with flame weapon. Their playstyle is pretty much like the RA Soviet with 100% brute force tactic. Both of their super weapons are pretty much the same as the Soviet. you can say China is pretty much Soviet 2.0 with little change.

Japan (Subversive): Use most of the Allied weapon from YR. Fast and agile, they are supported by the high tech weapon like Prism and Mirage but they don't have weapon like Battle Fortress, Weather control or Chrono tech, instead they add up some of their own unit like shinobi or hacking technology to compensate for it. Their super weapon are the Hacking Center (steal a group of enemy vehicles) and Prism Satellite which are less devastating like nuke but come with the highest damage output as the beam are concentrated on a single spot with a massive energy output.

India (Cannon/Horde): The India use the outdated weapon from RA1 and they rely heavily on kinetic weapon. Although their weapon are outdated they are able to develop some of their own high tech weapon but most of the time they prefer to use a boring but practical tactic: horde tactic. They have a large population just like China and the Allied tank in RA1 are pretty cheap and can be mass produced with a higher number than the other two factions. Their tactic was to outnumber the enemy with their tanks and infantry while being supported by a large quantity of fire support. Their super weapon are the radar manipulation device which reset all of the enemy radar area while giving your own radar a 100% view of the whole map and the other weapon is a railgun artillery which fire a constant barrage of a few shell at the target area but with random accuracy but the damage are still very high.

Btw does anyone got an idea for Tiberium Universe? (Beside, I think I see the lack of Tiberium universe ideas in this place. It's just my own opinion anyway)

I'm thinking of a simple Tiberium Wars idea without the existence of Scrin and instead adding the Forgotten into their place as the third side who wrestle control with the Nod and GDI on Red Zone and a few Yellow Zone. Their weapon would consist of two previous Tiberium wars outdated weapon along with Tiberium based-weapon and mutant army. It would look like a GLA army with more mutant and Tiberium weapon with it.

The subfactions idea would be:

-Hammer Division (Powerhouse): Use the old and outdated weapon from both GDI and Nod. Their playstyle would be very straight forward with brute force and heavy unit.

-Mutant Division (Horde): Use a lot of mutant infantry and wild life army to outnumber the enemy (since the Forgotten would have no stealth weapon to avoid being the same as Nod).

-Tacitus Cult (Technical): A special cult which use Tiberium based weapon and the Tacitus for various special ability to support your army. They would look like a "mage" like faction with heavy use of special abilities.

Posted by: X1Destroy 30 Apr 2019, 20:43

Isn't there already a mod with the forgotten though? The stuffs that faction have is neat too.

My next idea based on the idea of Huntington's Clash of the Civilizations idea about the clash of different multi cultural group. This time my idea is about expanding the concept of Generals 2 into a different way.

Lore: After the ZH event the world order got changed completely. Russia become the starting place for an economic crisis which expanded through the rest of Europe and then the whole world. With the weakened government the NATO begin a chain of manipulation and secret support for a puppet leader to end the civil war. With a new leader who is willingly to submit himself into the NATO sphere, the rivalry of NATO and Russia temporarily ended as Russia economy are too weak to stand alone anymore. When the USA return back from their isolation with the new leader they joined the NATO again but this time the EU are having more power and influence during their absent. This time the USA begin a new concept of a new power sphere starting with the NATO in order to deal with a rising APA who are challenging them in both the military and cultural term.

Meanwhile the Asia got damaged by the crisis which lead to the point the APA existed to handle the problem but the alliance itself is still very fragile at best, this APA consist of China, India, Japan, S.Korea, N.Korea along with other Asian country except the Middle East as the USA had abandoned this Pacific region to the hand of the Chinese. And when the new president of America begin another open to their country again it was too late, the APA already handle the crisis well enough without them.

The Middle East and Africa are in a bad shape even if the GLA is long gone, the new Islamic Union is a copy of APA model to handle the crisis but it doesn't doing well enough for them. But still it prevent a worse outcome than letting them at each other throat again.

Factions:

-NATO (Powerhouse): Unlike the Generals 2 this NATO factions field their heaviest vehicles along with the most expensive army they got. Their tactic is to win through frontal combat but their weapon lack a powerful punch like the APA. But still, their toughness is still a huge plus to compensate for that.

-APA (Cannon): With the population drop in China along with other Asian countries due to multiple one child policies on many nations to slow down the economic crisis, they escaped the crisis while their population growth got slow down heavily which lead to the point they adopted a new doctrine instead of the old one. Their new doctrine is to use the overwhelming firepower by the use of strong area denial weapon like napalm, nuclear and other weapon to deal with the enemy. They also favor long range artillery as they want to devastated the enemy with their long range advantage before their main army come in to crush the enemy.

-Islamic Union (Subversive): This faction is the new GLA but with better equipment but they are still somewhat outdated compared to the other two. With a huge population problem in Africa after the UN program in Africa to control the population boom failed they are overcrowded with number and population. But this time they are able to turn this population into an advantage, their army become the largest quantity than the other two factions and they also use chemical weapon despite the Geneva Convention rule.

Recently I got a crazy idea but I can't think much how the outcome happened and how would I design it. Basically that idea is about Einstein erase Marx existence when the Allied is on the verge of losing the war against the Soviet in RA2 event. Without Marx there will be no Communism in Russia which lead to the point only Capitalism and Fascist exist as the two dominant ideologies. But beyond that I can't think of an idea how each side would form their own factions. So far I can think there will be two sides:

-America, France, UK at one side. Japan may also join since they haven't become USA enemy as World War 2 haven't exist in this new timeline and they would have to deal with a capitalism China who would clash against Japan soon.

-Germany, Italy would be a normal Fascist alliance without Hitler as Einstein also erased Hitler from RA1 event.

-Russia and China are the huge questions for me since I can't think if they would end up being Capitalism or Fascism or going back to the old Monarchy era again. That's why I don't know which side to group them into.

Going through my faction roster for "RotR Chaos", I'm noticing a pattern in my generals: One will have an arsenal that's relatively lower-tech than usual, another will have a relatively more advanced technology, and one general with a normal arsenal. For example, three subfactions of Russia are: Gopnik (which deploys of old Sovtrash with better focus on vehicle salvage and guerilla fighting); Cosmonaut Corps (which is just expensive spess mehrens), and Rush B (normal Russia with strong-yet-affordable infantry via Spetsnaz).

Also, I have plans for Japan's Youkai General (i.e. if Gensokyo was a Zero Hour subfaction). Their two main gimmicks are a) having lots of Hero Units and B) all "core buildings" are both unit makers and mini-tech buildings that unlock units in other core buildings (as well as secondary buildings in another commandset). This is largely incomplete, much of the full arsenal of each core buildings is missing and I'm making it up as I go along.

Core Buildings
Command Center - Natch, has a few cosmetic additions to differentiate it from other subfactions' command centers
Hakkero Reactor - Magic-based power source, increases power of nearby magic-using units and structures via artificial leylines
Scarlet Devil Warehouse - Supply Center, trains fairy maids who can only collect supplies, check for mines (the hard way) and (slowly) repair buildings via cleaning

[Spell Card] Scarlet Devil Mist: Creates red fog that hides allied units inside it, and also jams enemy units (prevents the player from issuing commands to them)
Sakuya Izayoi: Anti-infantry unit, can teleport and has an ability that kills all infantry in a targeted area (best way to represent time stop in SAGE)
Patchouli Knowledge: Caster unit that spawns a variety of fancy particle effects, powerful but slow and squishy
Hong Meiling: Resilient melee pounder
Remilia Scarlet: Has a bulletproof parasol

Fairy Tree - Cannon fodder bought in bulk (inclusion pending?)
[Spell Card] Springtime Summons: Spawn Lily White and a large group of unarmed, uncontrollable fairies in the area solely to draw fire
Cirno: ECA's Fenris tank as an idiot fairy, with an AoE strike and freezing aura

Magician's Dollhouse - Trains doll-based infantry units
[Spell Card] Nesting Doll: Multiplies all dolls in a target area by 2
Shanghai Doll: Basic melee infantry
Hourai Doll: Suicide doll filled with gunpowder (can turn into a mine)
Goliath Doll: Giant tanky infantry
Alice Margatroid: Contra's Drone Controller (attacks by spawning dolls), can also build doll units on the spot

Moriya Shrine - Unlocks support powers/"spell cards" in other buildings. Can also request randomized GP attacks/reinforcements.
[Spell Card] Smiting Miracle: Call in a random offensive GP
[Spell Card] Helping Miracle: Call in a random supporting GP
Crow Tengu: Basic air unit
Wolf Tengu: Heavy melee unit
Aya Shameimaru: Highly-mobile flying Sentry Drone
Sanae Kochiya: Remix Escalation's Skynet AI Core (automatically calls in random support powers), below-average otherwise
Suwako Moriya: Terrain manipulator, can spawn obstacles and earth clones, also can burrow underground for the sneakiest of sneak attacks

Kappa Garage - Unlocks vehicles, builds Kappa engineers and light marinecraft, along with technology-based upgrades.
Kappa Mob: RotR's Volunteer Squad but can repair vehicles and structures
Hisoutensoku: Giant fighting robot
Small hovercraft vehicles?
Nitori Kawashiro: Stealthed (via optical camouflage) and uses a plasma cutter to repair friendly vehicles/buildings or damage enemy ones

Eientei Pharmacy - Organics/infantry-related upgrades, specialized rabbit infantry (either earth rabbit or Lunarian)
[Spell Card] Stimpacks: GLA's Combat Drugs GP
Lunarian Soldier: Rifle-wielding sharpshooters that can relay enemy positions to each other (y'know the patriot turret's assist weapon? Yeah that)
Reisen Udonge Inaba: Can make units target each other, also has a Shtora-like system (lol red eyes)

Chireiden Palace - Tunnel Network as a tech building, required to build smaller exit tunnels
[Spell Card] Satori Scan: USA's Satellite Scan
Underground Spirit: Weak infantry, immune to most conventional weaponry
Utsuho Reiuji: Provides 1000 power, very strong but also explodes massively upon death, can shoot a slow-moving powerful mini-sun that moves in a straight line

Hakurei Shrine - Unlocks hero units
Shrine Tank: Obligatory RTS heavy tank
Reimu Hakurei: Decent all-arounder infantry, can temporarily turn invincible (via her Fantasy Heaven spell card)
Marisa Kirisame: Flying glass cannon that spews lasers
Suika Ibuki: Melee brawler, can debuff units via alcohol, spawns a group of mini-Suikas upon death (one of which respawns into the normal Suika after 20 seconds)

Celestial Villa - Second eco
[Spell Card] Gold Rush: Provides emergency funds (placeholder until I come up with a better one)
Iku Nagae: Walking tesla tank, detects stealth as an extension of her ability to read the atmosphere
Tenshi Hinanawi: Can cause earthquakes (anti-structure AoE) and spawn keystones (tough, flying decoys)

Infernal Cherry Garden - Superweapon, uses an artificial, lesser version of the Saigyou Ayakashi to neutron bomb everything in a huge area
Youmu Konpaku: Meiling but a faster glass cannon
Yuyuko Saigyouji: Walking neutron cannon (instantly kills infantry and depilots vehicles via ability to instantly induce death)
Yukari Yakumo: Can make mini-Sneak Attacks via her signature Gaps, can also hire Chen and Ran.

Secondary Structures
Guard Tower: 4-slot garrison outpost
Chireiden Exit Tunnel: Small tunnel networks, can only exit
Chireiden Geyser: Firestorm Barrier/Mental Omega's Blasticade, shoots down any air unit flying directly on top of it
Kappa Defense Module: Pretty much Shockwave's Concrete Slab, can turn into an auto-turret, camouflage generator, or a repair station

Additional Hero Units (requires Rank 3 GP unlock)
Daiyousei: Large AoE healer
Flandre Scarlet: Ultimate glass cannon (has an ability that can destroy anything after locking on for 15 seconds), can spawn 3 fake copies
Medicine Melancholy: Stealthed garrison cleaner that poisons nearby enemy(?) infantry, can leave behind poison fields
Fujiwara no Mokou: Walking flamethrower that resurrects a few seconds upon death (via the magic of OCLs)
Koishi Komeiji: Reusable saboteur, hidden from radar, doesn't aggro the AI and cannot be seen normally (hidden 3d model unless you're Rank 5/same subfaction, footsteps are visible)
Shinmyoumaru Sukuna: Terror Drone on steroids
Rika: Piloting her Evil Eye Sigma, essentially a flying Sentinel tank with lasers

Tbh I would like to see a kind of fictional world where some crucial technology never exist and your army consist of a weird mixture of your current technology without any need of logical explanation just to make the weird world building gone easier. Imagine a modern army where tank got no turret as turret concept never existed, infantry never use rifle, bullet or ammo and only use Bazooka or flak rifle because the small arm weapon never existed. People keep building ICBM and rain it onto the battlefield as nuclear weapon never existed. Right now the trend of realistic weapon are getting boring for my taste, I like to see weird or fictional thing that disobey realism and normal logic.

Some of my idea below but never become a detailed idea:

-America in RA2 getting nuke while the Soviet lose their nuke thanks to the Stargate project that create a psionic corp similar to Yuri's army and Soviet never got any psionic army to begin with. Basically it is a reversal of good guy-bad guy trope where USA now become the aggressor who nuke the Soviet and the Soviet has to build their tank like subversive army with more light weight and more mobility.

-An underground warfare that look like Metro 2033 but less grim dark than it, although you got no aircraft but your 'tank' are actually driller vehicle similar to Mental Omega Driller APC which can push through wall and attack at an unpredicted spot in your base.

-A space war where your main attacking method are melee combat and ramming ship similar to Pirate of the Caribbean style but it applied to space pirate and space royal army.

At the end of RA3 event, the Allied was though to conquer most of their enemy until the Soviet unleashed their final weapon against them. An unknown bio weapon packed inside many long range ballistic rockets launched against the invading army in Europe and decimated most of the invading Allied army on there. Russia also suffered from the blast as the destruction area of the weapon reached far beyond their calculation. This bio weapon mutated soldier into eldritch abomination, meanwhile a secret research bunker deep inside Russia also experimenting a mutated massive brain abomination with the ability to control those mutated victim on Europe.

Because of the limited range of the rockets the Soviet can only reach to the eastern part of Europe and Asia, but still their plan was a success because the Allied never comeback to Europe again. Despite their massive loss of soldiers, the Allied remains on Europe successfully retreat back into America but at the cost of letting the mutants overrunning the Europe as the spread of mutant plague was unstoppable. Despite of the successful retreat, the Allied still have to kill and prevent any infected refuges outside of America continent trying to cross into their border.

On the other side of the war the Japan who was being defeated by the Allied still has one secret project that hidden in Antarctica. Before the Japan surrendered to the Allied they secretly experimented an army of robot and psionic Yuriko clones controlled by a psionic cyborg Yuriko clone. By the time the Allied defeated the Japan most of the documents had been burned so the Allied never know about the existence of this project. And thanks to the mutants threat on Europe and Asia, the Allied was being busy at stopping the mutants threat from invading the America continent so they never noticed the rapid production of this secret army until it was too late.

Factions

-Mutants (Horde/Subversive): Stationed mostly at Russia, the mutants are massive in term of quantity and expanding rapidly as the Allied can't stop the plague from spreading to Europe, Asia and Africa. Their force are very fragile but numerous and they followed Zerg rush tactic which they considered their own fellow as cannon fodder as they got zero intelligent on their own. Despite that there are some mutants who retained their intelligence thanks to the limited number of vaccines developed inside that facility which allow some of the Soviet commanders to command the mutants but they still have to obey the abomination brain named the Death Brain as it is the equivalent of the Starcraft Overmind who controlled everything with the ultimate purpose of creating a twisted utopia of eldritch world filled with mutants.

-Yuriko's Revenge (Cannon/Horde): Despite the fact this robotic and clone army are numerous and remains uncontested at Antarctica base, they are being constrained by their production cost compared to the mutant horde. All of these robots and clones are the duplication copy of Yuriko albeit with different uniform but their physical appearance are exactly the same as her. Because of the Japan surrender they can't access to all of the high tech weapon but they still managed to gather as much firearm abandoned by various armies across the world as these mutants never have any intelligence to use firearms. This faction rely on overwhelming firepower as they got the number advantage to compensate for the fragileness as the cyborb Yuriko leader aren't above treating her own army as the cannon fodder. Yuriko only have one goal by the program installed on her, to revenge for the fallen Japan against the Allied and the Soviet chemical attack, she is willing to spend every last of her army to destroy both sides without leaving any survivors.

-Allied (Powerhouse/Turtle): With the rest of the world being consumed by the mutants, clones and robots, the rest of the Allied has to fortify their American continent with all of the technologies they got. Because of their limited number against the horde of both sides their army focused heavily on armor and protection. The Aegis shield technology from Athena Cannon now become widespread as each of the soldier equipped with the force field technology with extra body armor while their tank also shared the same toughness as well. Because the need of defense outweigh offense their army are extremely sluggish but very hard to destroy. The Allied is the only faction who still use super weapon as it is their only reliable way of attacking the enemy across the globes without suffering any injury (and the other two sides never have the access to the satellite tech which means the Allied dominated the sky and the space technologies completely).
