ok this is for the wifes game.
Zero hour works fine. Windows 7 x64 when clicking launch the rotr launcher throws this error for both 1.85 and 1.86v5 With swr net turned on and off. Unknown error (0xfffffffe) Note: according to the debugger window it loads all the rotr files fine but trying to start the game this happens. I ran the debugger for the launcher and this is the full error. System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): Unknown error (0xfffffffe) at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithShellExecuteEx(ProcessStartInfo startInfo) at SWR_Generic_Launcher.Manager.ProcessManager.HandleProcess(String path, String arguments, Boolean asAdmin) at SWR_Generic_Launcher.Manager.ProcessManager.StartProcess(String executable, Boolean asAdmin) So far we have tryed: Reinstalling rotr Reinstalling swr Reinstalling both zh and rotr Reinstalling directx Reinstalling Visual c++ Admin account Admin mode selected on the compatibility screen With UAC turned both on and off Removed the pathetic kb3086255 update All my searches on the code are pointing to c++ but iv ran out of ideas...so any help please. A picture of the error would help, but did u try deleting the swr productions folder in your user profile -appdata-local or roaming forgot wich one.. Just delete that folder it resets the launcher |

Did you install Generals and ZeroHour in the default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\?
If Zero Hour is running fine, copy Zero Hour to C:\Games\ROTR\ and try to run the launcher from within. You can also try to install .NET 4.0 again and see if it's related to System.ComponentModelWin32Exception (0x80004005) error. If you have problem reinstalling .NET 4, go to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET" and rename "Assembly" to something else. This post has been edited by AceMaster: 24 Oct 2015, 6:46 |

Sorry to hear that...
Someone mentioned the compatibility mode should use Windows XP SP2 instead of SP3 in Windows 7 but I cannot confirm this. Also Programs Files (x86) has different security measure such as permission. May be worth to have a look. http://www.wikihow.com/Change-File-Permissions-on-Windows-7 If all else failed, just play LAN game without the launcher for now. http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=10055 for instructions. The last link provided above is for manual install which skip the launcher and SWR.net. Since you got ROTR installed, you can just do this:
1. copy C:\Games\Zero Hour\ to C:\Games\ROTR\ 2. rename all .gib to .big in C:\Games\ROTR\ (if you have both 1.85 and 1.86v5 installed, rename according to ROTRIntrl_Lnchr.dat file list for 1.86v5) 3. replace C:\Games\ROTR\0000000.016, 00000000.256 with 0000000.016_ , 00000000.256_ 4. delete C:\Games\ROTR\Data\Scripts Just run C:\Games\ROTR\generals.exe -quickstart If you can run Normal Zero Hour, you should be able to run ROTR with this method. p.s. as you have First Decade, it is recommended to get the unofficial 1.03 patch that came with a generals.exe which can bypass disc-check. Nope doesn't work just loads normal zh, also its already cracked and per the shw test its summit to do with her comp as shockwave gives the same error This post has been edited by mr_Skittles: 25 Oct 2015, 10:51 -------------------- |
