Greetings!

Recently, the humies and I on the skype group talked about the C&C source code which is being held secret by EA ( A secret lab somewhere in the north atlantic). And an idea came to one of our gitz. If maybe we could send emails to EA alternatively/randomly ( Swarm them! Send in more men like IGs). So, hopefully they might notice and pay heed to our cause and release the source code. Now, in behalf of the Boyz, I would like to form a major waaagh and try something that has 50/50 chances of working. Any willing vict - volunteers willing to die for the emperor?

We're thinking of sending the emails (Xattus's Bomtruckz) here: http://help.ea.com/en/ But, maybe someone else knows better where we can send it ?

This is serious, dont mind the silly stuffs. Sorry,cant help it! tongue.gif serious.gif

IIRC the source code for ZH is possibly lost forever (ask bruce) or locked in the same warehouse that the ark is being held.

Because the world is not as simple and convenient as you think it is.

As for this topic, sorry guys but if there was ever the tiniest possibility of this happening, it would have happened a long, long time ago.
EA is well aware of the ZH modding community, as evidenced by the their community battlecasts and other social media posts. The fact that they were aware of us, yet still did nothing, means that they don't care, and will not be giving any support any time soon.

You may think I'm just being negative, but you see, this isn't the first time this idea was suggested, it has been brought up many times before, and each time it was, nothing happened.

Because you'll spend too much time on learning its kinks and trying to correct them - Changing "this" will break "that" and so on. Or you will be spending time trying to figure out how to add new features without breaking what works. Usually this takes longer than writing more or less unhampered in your own engine.

There hasn't been a C&C style game on Unity yet (at least i don't know), so developing on it will be from scratch too.

"Supreme commander" games focuses on super-scale combat, it lacks urban combat (they don't make sense there), so you'll have to add all this by yourself.
Act of aggression is a bit off our mark for a C&C style game, from what i see in videos, but maybe the closest to a generals game in last 8 years.

Still all this means that it is marginally easier to develop one's own engine, or sufficiently rework one of the more popular engines - usually, Unity engine.
Though a C&C game on Source 2 or Unreal 4 would be quite a sight, their high tech rendering is not that much required for this kind of a game.
