So yeah, I think it's about time this game gets its own thread here.
Here's what we know so far: - The story is set a few years after CoD4 - The player takes on the role of Sgt. Gary 'Roach' Sanderson, a member of a multinational spec-ops unit called Task Force 141 - The characters include 'Soap' MacTavish from the first game who is now an SAS captain as well as Vladimir Makarov, a former associate of Zakhaev - The missions will take place in Russia, Afghanistan and Rio de Janeiro; apparently, there'll also be civilians and hostages - The weapons include the Bushmaster ACR, USP.45, AK47, FAMAS, SA80, AUG-HBAR, SPAS12 and a fully automatic Glock-pistol - The weapon attachments include reflex-sights, ACOG-scopes, silencers and a heartbeat sensor; they can also be found on enemy weapons - The vehicle sections so far include a snowmobile chase - There'll be a 'Special Forces Mode' which consists of single scenarios similar to CoD4's epilogue mission - Unlike the main campaign, SF Mode can be played co-operatively - Release date: November 10, 2009 Gameplay footage |

I hope it's more mod friendly than the first game and Infinity Award make the tools available from the beginning. Modded coop modes have the potential to breathe life into the game long after its release.

I just found this movie which gives a pretty good outline of things confirmed and not, and isn't limited to just which weapons will be available. It confirms the following weapons (speculations for weapons that are hard to make out with asterisk instead of dash):
-Bushmaster ACR *M110 SASS -FAMAS -Steyr AUG HBAR -USP .45 -Glock 18 -AK-47 (NOT the AK-74, THANK GOD) -SPAS-12 -Striker Protecta -M249 SAW (FN Minimi) -870MCS -SCAR *M67 Frag Grenade -Kriss *FN F2000 -UMP .45 -P90 *Deagle -M1911 This post has been edited by Chyros: 8 Jun 2009, 20:25 -------------------- TN

As long as I can kill someone with it and it is fun, I really cannot care for the weapon

Here is a pretty comprehensive list of guns that will be in the game, given by what we know so far.

Co-op would be awesome.
From what I've heard CoD5 (Modern Warfare I) was major fail, so I hope number 2 is the lucky number. If only they get the balance right this time (Mp5/AK47 have no equal) and get rid of some of the lameness (Bunnyhopping, Nade spam) prevelant in CoD4. -------------------- Proud producer of the forum family |

``From what I've heard CoD5 (Modern Warfare I) was major fail, so I hope number 2 is the lucky number.´´
Errr, there actually wasn't a real Call of Duty FIVE although many people refer to World at War as five because it came after Call of Duty 4 which actually was Modern Warfare ONE. Modern Warfare one was really good and many people say that World at War, i.e. Call of Duty '5' was bad because it was made by Treyarch rather than Infinity Ward. Treyarch also made Call of Duty 3 which never came to the PC and is generally regarded as one of the weakest in the series. Unlike Modern Warfare, World at War was once again set in World War 2, it was more violent and the level design was visibly more linear, like in Call of Duty 3 Hope that didn't confuse the hell out of you. |

``From what I've heard CoD5 (Modern Warfare I) was major fail, so I hope number 2 is the lucky number.´´ In addition, there was no weapon variance (most weapons from weapon classes were identical) and weapon balance sucked hairy donkey arse. You wouldn't miss it, Thez - shotguns were even worse than in MW.

That's probably something you'll only see with NPCs. Your own character's melee
abilities will probably be along the lines of 'slash throat with knife' and that's about it. |

Neither do I. In fact, my confusion was greater when they DROPPED the Call of Duty bit a few weeks ago.
Also, in other news, Treyarch's next Call of Duty is already in the works. Apparently set during the Cold War, it might feature events in Vietnam and Cuba. |

It's one of the more creative special editions, I have to give 'em that.
I think I'll go for the Hardened Edition, though. This is just plain overkill and since I wanted to put MW2 on my Christmas wishlist, I don't want to make it too expensive for the poor sod who has to take care of it. |

It's probably cheaper buying real goggles.
