We all know that gaming sucked since 1984*1. BUT i have a bad feeling that our kiddies will slowly accept the horrorfying future that gaming will be at 2035, imagine, always drm consoles, moneygrubbing kickstarters, payed demos microtransactions*3 to play the game like in arcades, a coinbit (100$ exchange, thankyou), centIpede-esque (hint hint) conditions for online gaming, and even more creepy elements like real feedback, even death, avaible in that future...

Btw, HL3 will never come*3. And warhammer 40k will be a call of dutyited universe, lacking any gothic and space opera elemtns in favor for coocky dooty style.
A truly grim, harsh, dark future.

Oh and the corporations, i dont blame them, i entirely blame consumers who giving us this new fresh world of gaming.

1. Because the games of the 1990s came.

2. EA's reloads anyone?

3. FACT.

Might happen, might now. I say, as long as the games are good I don't give a shit. I can handle the DRM crap, I don't care for kickstarters or demos. Now, feedback for death, like real death, or something else...? What are you implying?

What I'm worried about is the industry running out of ideas. Sooner or later we're gonna have made all the gameplay additions to the FPS, the RTS, the MOBA and the MMO. Then, there are no new gameplay elements to be added, and from then on its all about story or aesthethics. That's gonna be a challenge because games rarely sell millions for stories. The Last of Us, Telltale's games and (maybe) Grand Theft Auto are the exceptions.

I'm amazed that you do not mention the current hype for VR.
2035 is so far away from us in terms what might happen that there is no point to speculate much.
Whole genres go in obscurity and return in all their glory - case in point fantasy turn based strategies and starsims are abound with Elite and Starcitizen.
RPGs are alive and kicking with Witcher 3 and Pillar's of eternity, Fallout 4 and Numenera in near future,
Only RTS are barely hobbling along with Starcraft 2: legacy of the Void and Act of aggression, which is quite a bit influenced by the fact that you can't play them on consoles yet (Steam controller, where are you?) and respectively their market is smaller.

DRM as it is now with Steam and GOG is fine by me. DLCs as such don't bother me too as long as they are fairly priced (via sales or otherwise)
I'm not much into FPS this year, though i follow BF 4 CTE, so i can't really say on that front.
Warhammer 40k will most likely die due to hubris of games-workshop, no because its videogames will be CODified. Just look what happened to WFB (fantasy battles).

Next 2 years for Valve will most likely be related to Source 2 and VR related stunts. Will there be a game/games to promote it? Most likely - yes, Will it be Half life 3, doubt it. My guess it will be a Left for dead 3 or a new game completely.
EA after the events of 2012 (Mass effect 3 scandal) - 2014 (poor BF 4, Simcity fuckup) and bad ratings (worst company of the year) has changed a bit, i'd say. They closed down Generals 2 and it seems to me it was a good idea.
They are not Valve, otherwise Swr would be hired already, but at least they are not interfering.

Gamescom 2015 is happening right now. I suggest you check it out, there might be smth to cheer you up.

Armageddon is here..............

2035? I might be dead before that. But it's true that the direction we're heading to is depressing.

Most of the series I like are either dead or turned into abominations that should have never existed. I can barely pick up new titles cause most of them are not what I need.

If you ever decide to invade Russia, for the love of God, bring some warm clothes. We don't want you to blame the "evil Russian winter" when you get crushed, like everyone else who tried.

I can bet that many people, especially those who grew up in the 80s and later absolutely hate modern gaming. Just like we will in 10 years or so. Everyone like to stick to their time, when everything was "better" (actually, you were younger, everything seemed easier). But, yeah, the gaming is becoming more serious, to a point of being ridiculous to us. But we won't matter by the time it does. Some new, younger kids, who think they absorbed the entire knowledge of the fricken universe, will see us as the "dinosaurs". Just like most of us see other older guys. At some point, you'll just have to let it go and move on. It's how the entire damn life works.

How so? Elaborate. Bare in mind I didn't say everyone, but many people.
And I don't consider older guys "dinosaurs", but I know many people from my and younger generations who do.
