After about five years of working on this project, I am proud to announce that ShockWave has finally matured to a stage where it is no longer considered a public beta but a full version.
Over the past few weeks, I have been working extra hard to provide all of you with a playing experience surpassing any previous version with a lot of new content, cosmetic improvements and other tweaks.

Now let us show you some of the things we have saved up for you.

First of all, unique Command Centers for all generals:

Secondly, to go with these specific Command Centers, each general now has his own distinct builder unit:





Since I cannot slap a general's logo on a Worker, we have done something entirely different for them:

(note that all of these are shown with the worker shoes upgrade)

Top: Deathstrike's worker and pics from its construction animation
Mid Left: Thrax's worker with oxygen mask and fitting air tank
Mid Right: Kassad's worker dressed up like a civilian (to blend in)
Bottom: Juhziz's worker with explosive pack and helmet

Hi guys, I have just downloaded ShW 1.0 and I can't play it it gives me this error message:

Failed to copy the file 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command &
Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer™ Generals Zero
Hour\Data\Scripts\SkirmishScripts.scb' to 'C:\Program Files\EA
Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command &
Conquer™ Generals Zero Hour\Data\Scripts\SkirmishScripts.bck'
(error: system cannot find the file.)
The scripts folder is empty but VZH starts normally...
Please help me. Thanks smile.gif

No. It's strictly meant as a reconnaissance vehicle. It originally had both transport and combat capabilities, but this got removed.

If your running in Vista/7 then you need to run the shortcut in administration mode the launcher tries to rename some files and neither windows 7 or vista allow that by default.

did you go to right click>properties>compatibility>run this program...(Window XP (S..P..3)) and run this...administrator?

Well I tried it and when I try to use to run in compability for XP SP2 or SP3 i get this:

I can get it to work with "Run as Administrator". Any way to set it up to play in windowed mode? If there's supposed to be a launcher thing like in .95 and before, it doesn't show up.

There should be an executable for all the modes in the start menu.

The launcher could not make it to release. It will however be available whenever it becomes available.

Anyway, Warhawk I recognize your problems on Windows 7. I think you're better off doing a reinstall, and running it as administrator the first time right away. Chances are that in your previous attempts some stuff got renamed and some other stuff didn't, which makes your game unlaunchable.

My favourite is the Modern cover with the 3 Generals that basically symbolise ShockWave for me. Just a thought, though: Any plans for CD labels or an autostart to install from burned CDs?

What? Shouldn't that be "enemy" instead of "army"?

The DVD Covers look great, but they have grammar and syntax errors. I realize that 99% of players won't care, but to the 1% (like myself) who are probably going to print them out and use them, I'd like them to be as polished as possible.

Can you make the .PSDs available, please?

I have played this mod for years,and i must say this is the greatest mod i ever play.
Thank you for making C&C Zero Hour a worthy game to play...and what EA guys can't make happen(thanks to them,they ruined the C&C games...)

Two things however
1) Would anyone on the mod team object to me releasing some alternative cameos?
2) Is the Infantry Generals War Factory meant to be missing the repair crane? I checked the ini's and I'm sure it's been left out by mistake, probably when the chimney smoke was being fixed .

I will get around to making mac release (an unsupported one.) but i as you said you will just have to wait abit.

I haven't had chance to play this yet, so a few questions to anyone who has played it.

Anyone played through the Generals challenge? Does Fai or any of the new generals appear as opponents?

How's the AI? I heard it was vastly improved, I'm looking forward to having a proper Comp Stomp.

There have been hints at units not yet revealed in the pre v1 updates such as Laser Sentry Drone replacement and Laser Firebase, what's going on there?

Any shocks or surprises, stuff you just didn't see coming in V1?

In fact, I think I'm looking for a review smile.gif

Looking forward to playing it.

Well laser may be rather strong ( but has no armor upg ) but it's the most boring and least changed general of the entire game. He is the biggest dissapointment for me atm. He's just a vanila usa with lazors, and ALOT less unit variety.

Just a query though, it seems the new AI for the 3 boss generals cannot be played on Unofficial maps and only on those Official ones.. will this be rectified soon?

We can't fix that as the maps need to be modified to work with ShockWave but we will be releasing a tutorial on how to make them AI compatible.

Yea, It becomes boring after few games. But its basically "I Win" general.
I mean, paladins only weakness is air. Now followed by few avengers they can laugh at every force try to stop them. ani8b.gif

Not true. The Laser Paladin's weapon damage has been drastically cut into something comparable to a spin-up weapon. Against buildings this works fine, but against something like a tank, this doesn't work so well.

From games that i played they destroy tanks pretty fast. Dont know about overlords and other monsters but against tanks in his rank, paladins are owning them. And they are effective vs infantry too.

They have to re-spin up with every new target. The spin-up damage only affects the target it was firing at when it started spinning up, this way.

First I would like to say congrats on the release..truly a labor of love.

I have been following this mod for a LLLOOONNGGG time. I am so glad that this is finally a 1.0 release. Been waiting for like 4 ever.
I play with friends on private networks...(the Hamachi rooms are ALWAYS full) we played quite a few games last night and have discovered that GLA (all of them) are a little OP. We are not noobs nor are we new to Command and Conquer. We even went as far as to test the AI on Hard with the three of us as different GLA factions and the AI assigned as non GLA factions and we won the matches everytime with relative ease. So we decided to play each other in 1V1's..GLA won everytime. Since this is an early test result..it may change after we get in tune with the other faction's nuances. Will keep you apprised of our findings.

There are a few more things I would like to bring up

1. Quickstart is not available..only errors out when applied..so the shell map (good as it is) still comes up (performance issue for lower machines)

2. Black Lotus MUST be told to capture rather than point and click (needs to be the default command)

3. I have found that the dozers seem to lose commands..several times I have had to command them to build a building. It starts it but then pauses until I give the command again.

This is enough for now.. I have more but I dont want to be longwinded about this right now.

It was deemed unfair that $600 would counter any infantry force you could come up with. As it is, it's still very effective against infantry though, well worth the investments.

This might be a easy fix for some people who find that clicking on the shockwave launcher just leads to an error popping up. I found that clicking on the normal zero hour launcher brings up shockwave and not zero hour, and it works just fine. Maybe people should try this ^^ i found this out myself and thought id let ya know

Neither is it official, so the comment wasn't meant at you. In the past, Shockwave offical networks have always had rather poor management which resulted in personal networks like yours to be preferred by the community after some time.

OK so AI is NOT a good test for balance then...I accept that.

I have also found the quickstart...makes things a bit faster..(one of my friends has a low end rig)

Let me explain GLA OP...GLA is very fast at getting up and running...USA and China factions are slow to start..so by the time the first units are out of a War factory..GLA has a strike force of tanks that out number what USA or China may have. I did however have some luck with Laser General on Blood Staduim 2 against Salvage GLA. Only because there is a choke point.

Of course there are many BO's one may use...but then you are on the backfoot while GLA runs around getting map control. Maybe I should play some of the Shockwave Pros to get some pointers and techniques. but this releasae feels a little different then 95 and 951

I will try to save some replays for you and upload them. But it may be a couple of days for that to happen.

One more thing...I am constantly having to regive build commands to Dozers/Workers....is this a bug or is there something I am missing...nothing more frustrating than thinking a building is being built only to find the building stuck on 0% and the Dozer/Worker sitting there. I do not have any problems like this with Generals or Zero Hour.

If you wish to report bugs please go to the Bug report forum and post it there, so I'm not going to respond on that here.

I'll remain prejudiced towards your balance assumptions as we have a very qualified balance team and the balancing of this version has been going on since 0.951, so I am at this moment assuming that you and your friends are just a bit more adept at using GLA than the other two factions.

Just got this working on my Mac after extracting the files on a friendly PC.

Gor blimey! It's good isn't it!

First test game was against Ironside on Seaside Mutiny, I set myself to random and got Vanilla GLA. Probably not the best side to go against Ironside but them's the breaks. My god, I very nearly got my arse handed to me. I ended up building 2 Scud Storms and two layers of defences just to hold him back. Every attack got pushed back and through sheer poor handling of Sneak Attacks I did very little damage to his base before having to retreat. He owned the map!

Finally pulled it back though, but getting past swarms of Predator Drones was not easy for my light tanks. I never realised those things were so lethal en masse.

It didn't help that Ironside was still producing Mammoths after I'd knocked out his Strategy centre though.

But I won, barely, it was a solid match.

So congratulations to the team! The AI is far more impressive (it even seems to run a bit more smoothly too!), the new units are great fun (Desert Fly and the new Enforcer are brilliant) and just the overall feel and sense of balance is perfect. Well done!

It's a shame there's to be no more continued development, end of an era.

Really? I thought it was all just bug fixes from here on in. (and some new models; tomahawk, microwave tank, etc.)

Why do 'people' keep complaining about the Lasergen being rubbish? Untouched?

I think his units look better (liking the purple energy theme), play better, have more of a detailed feel to them and I think overall he's much improved. I could complain easily more about other Generals but I don't because I know the SHKW team will make amendments as appropriate.

People have argued that the play experience isn't as varied with Townes because of the relative lack of new units. It's not about how the units look.
