I'm having lots of noticeable lag when playing the game, and it slows down a lot, however my PC far exceeds that of the game requirements, is there anything I can do to make it play normal? The lag isn't this bad with shockwave or older versions of rotr either :/

Is anybody else having a similar issue?

I experience it sometimes when playing on my laptop but other times its fast and so far I haven't been able to fix it.

Yeah it lags on my PC also,
sometimes (90% of cases) when starts to lag I simply lose patience and quit
like I have done few minutes ago.
I had such kind of lag on maybe few maps in normal ZH
or other mods but this lag I have with new ROTR is unacceptable.
Especially on new navy maps.
I really don't wanna upgrade PC at this time, and I don't have money.
I'll wait until 2.0 and if shows good I'll spend some cash.

I run the game on a high end comp and it lagged for me, so i edited the settings a bit. The one thing I turned off was heat effects and it ran a whole lot smoother.

Performance goes up if you turn down detail, but sadly SAGE is such an old engine it just lags regardless or hardware, especially for pathfinding of naval units.

I usually get lag with RotR 1.7 in a match with AI. Without AI (multiplayer), everything is fine. Comparing to 1.5, 1.7 is much better (less lag).
