Blackout in Germany (1.86), Destroy the main Solar Reactor powering German ECA Bases

The invasion of Central Europe has slowed as of late due to extreme ECA fortifications in Germany. Unable to locate the power sources of these bases, Russian tanks have fallen victim to ECA Turrets and Mortar Pits. Recently, Russian spies discovered a large Solar Reactor which is capable of powering all of the ECA Bases in Central Europe. Destroying this Reactor will surely result in the fall of Berlin and all of Germany. This operation is critical, so you have been given access to our nuclear arsenal.

Objectives:

1. Destroy the crippled ECA base in the south-east to gain a construction team.

2. Protect your supporting commander from ECA counter attack while he builds your base and Missile Silo.

3. Locate and destroy the Solar Reactor.

Notes:

You will start the mission in the middle of battle but don't worry, your forces are winning!

You will gain reinforcements for each counter attacking ECA wave you destroy, they will arrive near your starting location.

Destroying the ECA support base to the north will stop most ground attacks.

The Solar Reactor's armour has dramatically increased, bring everything you have to destroy it.

Known issues:

Your ally will take a while to build the Missile Silo, I may change it in future so you control the base sooner.

For some reason you can't build defences on Component Towers, but it will still cost you if you try, I have no idea why it does this.

ok.
1. u named the folder wrong, the folder name has to be exactly the same as the name on the .map and .tga u missed the space out tongue.gif
2. the solar burst only fired once
3. the AI cant use pandora properly it just sat there doing nothing


other than those thing.
that was a realy good and realy fun mission
nicely done mate smile.gif

Whoops! Didn't notice the folder name, it's all correct now.
The Solar Blast now fires every time.
The Pandora is just there to destroy and gain promotion from.

Here is how i saw this mission

I played version 2 on ROTR 1.86 and this is review of that version.
This review is written in good will and hope it will help developer in his future work.

Mission technicality
First that we se on missions are intros but there is non here thats a minus.
Tech tree is limited and nicely done, but there is that Command Center problem
its buldable and still asks for Russia faction, to do it correctly you can just go in system of faction
you need to buld CC and hit F and first thing you get is that invisible object for CC.
Place it anywhere on the map best close to some object so you know where you put it.
SWR made this even if you capture enemy CC you cant build more of them.
So also a minus.
Solaris relay never rebuilds after destruction.
Al dont produce anything only dozers spawn from somwhere
I saw in WB that you tried to make AI build units but it doesent
so not sure you quit on that idea or it just dont work.
I can help you with that if you want.
So for mission technicality 5/10

The idea of the mission with Russia trying to destroy solar reactor is interesting like it.
9/10 for idea.

AI difficulty is poor i was never in any trouble 4/10.
Advice: even if ECA has great defence structures they are not good enough on their own
you can make teams that guard those teams can be just one artillery unit or more units guard position.
Choppers are also great to script like that.
Makes a lot harder to defeat base especially if they respawn.
Gameplay was slow it takes some time before get substantial amount of money
than all i had to is destroy that base with a lot of nukes and finish off with Boris and some other units.

Enemy base had good amount of defenses to keep me from just rush it but with no teams that guard it
was to easy 6/10.

Map classic urban area rate 8/10.

All in all not bad but could be a lot better to me at least if AI would do more stuff
so i rate this mission 5/10.
If those technicality stuff would be fixed and AI better i would give it 9/10.
This mission has a lot of potential.

When i rate missions i consider all missions made with ZH world biulder and missions like
The prototype and introducing the gang of four are to me the best missions ever made in ZH WB.
And no they are not made by me, so i just cant rate any mission that is below those 10/10.
Those missions are so special at least to me.

Here is the updated version of Red Sun for 1.87.

Hints:

Make sure you have anti-air units in your attack teams as the ECA will use Harriers regularly.

If you want to win the easy way you will need to get a bit wet.
