My system: Windows 7 Professional 64-BIT

So I did a lot of working around and found how it make it work. At least for me.

So you do have to install both Generals and Zero Hour in C:/EA Games/ (not in the program files) as always install and run everything As Administrator. Once installed in its respective place, go ahead and patch both Generals and Zero Hour to 1.04, than install ROTR 1.5 (as admin) and direct it to your Zero Hour folder which should be (C:/EA Games/Command & Conquer Zero Hour/) than go into Start, All Programs, Rise of the Reds 1.5 find Rise of the Reds (Quick Start Mode) and make a shortcut to your desktop also right click and capability that to Windows XP SP2.

Ok so far we have fully installed Generals and Zero Hour, patched it to 1.04, and now installed ROTR 1.5. All these EXEs should set Capability to Windows XP (SP2 or SP3) ok NOW we get to the tricky part. So far I've noticed most people ran into one error with two messages. The problem is the game just does not want to start, maybe a flash or CMD comes and goes. Two of these errors are:

Error 740: Requires elevation (meaning must run as admin, but game still doesn't start)

Error 2: Can not find specified path.

Solution

Go into your Zero Hour folder, find ROTR.dat (rename it to ROTR.exe) than go to your desktop, find the Rise of the Reds (Quick Start Mode) and click EDIT. Copy and Paste this and save. Backup the Rise of the Reds (Quick Start) Shortcut

@echo off
Ren Rotr.dat Rotr.exe
cls
echo Starting Rise Of The Reds Beta 1.5
Rotr.exe -f "Rotr_Beta.xml" -p "-quickstart"
cls
Ren Rotr.exe Rotr.exe
exit

I changed the 2nd to last line "Red Rotr.exe Rotr.exe" from Red Rotr.exe Rotr.dat" and changed the 2nd Rotr.dat to Rotr.exe, so simply save that and run as admin. Now that it knows the specified path, source, and files are all correct. Tell me if that works. I went through both Error 740 and Error 2 and this WAS the fix. I kept reading suggestions, but at the end I figured it out and decided I had to register and share it with everyone.

Update: If your trying to start the game and Run As Administrator does not work than just double click. I noticed Run as Admin for me didn't work, but double clicking did.

Good post, though mileage will vary depending on your system. I'm on Windows 7 x64 and I didn't need to do anything once it was outside program files

Also, do you get a shellmap? As I am pretty sure it won't play on x64
