The purpose of this fanfiction (and the subsequent lores of this segment that I will eventually write) is an attempt to fit inside the ROTR's universe other units that participating of the WWIII (and pre-WWIII events) but you dont see in the game; today I present some units of the Russian Federation (I intend to write more about the other factions), then read and comment please.
Forgotten War Stuff: Russia Su-25 Frogfoot The Su-25 Frogfoot is a successful Russian/Soviet project of an close combat support aircraft; even with the end of the USSR the aircraft continued to be produced by Russia, as well as constantly modernized until the early 21 century - until when Russian designers have looked into the PAK FA project that would later become the Sokol. For decades the Frogfoot made fame consecrating a great bomber in the wars of Afghanistan and Chechnya, later in Ukraine and then in WWIII European War. The great success of Frogfoot is given by the ability to carry up to 9.700 lb of various weapons - including 300 kg thermobaric bombs - with high-performance for combat and low maintenance cost. In 2047 when the Russian Federation declared war against the countries of the European bloc the Su-25 Frogfoot was the VVS backbone of the invasion; hundreds of Frogfoots flying-low and fast passing through the European borders towards strategic military targets - weapons factories, barracks, airbases, radar stations, etc. - being that the mission of Frogfoot was a success at this stage of WWIII. With the USA's entry into the war in 2048 began a coordinated "shattered-skies operation" starring by F-22 Raptor squadrons. The Su-25 Frogfoot had no chance against the relentless fighters that soon re-dominated the skies of Central Europe; immediately the Federation's High Command ordered that all Frogfoots were dismantled and pilots reallocated to more modern multi-mission fighters as the Sokol - in order to preserve their lives. The remaining Frogfoots were shattered by flak ammunitions of heavy-caliber in 2050 during the Chinese invasion of Russia. The Su-25 Frogfoot was an interesting choice for Russia in various conflicts and particularly during the lightning invasion campaign of Europe, but as the Federation gained ground was not possible to provide adequate defensive coverage for Frogfoots - mainly due to logistical problems - yet, the USA air superiority influenced so that the Frogfoos failed in Europe's skies. The VVS fame was once again high with the Sokol - and a new generation of young pilots trained for the new fighters - then the Su-25 Frogfoot fell into oblivion, however some say that the Su-25 was the best bomber for close combat of WWIII. 2S4 Tyulpan The 2S4 Tyulpan was born in distant 70s of last century, when the Soviet artillery lived its glory days amid the Cold War; during the military reorganization of the former Soviet states some RA's high-rank military repatriated the Soviet state-of-art Tyulpans for new Federation artillery divisions. For decades before the Chinese conceiving the Nuke Cannon or the English Claymore Howitzer, Russians already had the Tyulpan as sovereign self-propelling artillery with his formidable 240mm cannon with range of up to 9.6 kms; and capacity for armor-piercing, chemical and nuclear rounds, as well as Smel'chak intelligent ammunitions - a laser-guided rounds - first used in the wars of Afghanistan and Chechnya. In 2037 the Tyulpan returned to action, this time in Ukrainian War defending the interests of the Federation to the east of the country divided by a devastating civil war. The 2S4 were decisive in the war - especially when launched a lightning nuclear barrage against Ukrainian tanks on October 09, in the "Battle of Uman". Later it was used in the early stages of WWIII - 2045/2047 - being seen in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland; the last Tyulpans in Europe are seen in Germany. At the rear when the Chinese began their ground advance at full-force - 2050 - the Tyulpans defended the motherland from the hordes until the enemy artillery could obliterate them with superior napalm-nuclear firepower. The 2S4 Tyulpan was an imposing artillery of the Russians in various war fronts, but were unused early due to the fact that there is some spare parts - including 240mm ammunitions - and own production line does not exist, also due the low mobility on the battlefield over long distances; then at the end of the day Msta-S was an artillery used much more intensively in the war. Yet the books speak of neutrons rounds of Chinese, fast and accurate barrages of the English and other barrages that resemble the Tremor AGAS of the Russians: the 2S4 Tyulpan. S-500 Autocrat The S-500 Autocrat is designed in the early 21st century to be the replacement of the renowned S-300/400 heavy-AA defense systems; built on a new platform the Autocrat's fifth generation missiles can shoot down almost any air threat - including ballistic missiles and low-orbit satellites - at unbelievable range of 500 kms. The first real Autocrat's mission was on March 23, 2046, when a unit positioned in Chita/Baikal - near the border with Mongolia - fired a missile against a Chinese AWAACS/spy plane; the aircraft countermeasures, distance and high-altitude of the flight were not able to avoid the neutralization of the target - which came to fall on a plantation at 66 KMs of Ulaanbaatar - further worsening the fragile relations between the Russian Federation and PRC. During WWIII, while hundreds of AA systems of third and fourth generation - as the S-300 Grumble - were pushed into the interior of the occupied European territories the RVSN RF positioned strategically some Autocrat batteries to protect domestic sensitive zones of the Federation - particularly Kaliningrad and the Moscow District - successfully imposing an "no-fly zone" to the enemy in the most darkest moments of the war. In 2049, when Moscow was first time threatened by the American's B2 stealth bombers once again the Autocrat shone: May 16 an Spirit Bomber was flying at 47,800 ft bound for the center of the Russian capital; the crew of Lieutenant-Colonel Cheslav Barenko detected and shot down the bomber considered the more expensive, sophisticated and lethal in the world with a single missile. The fact echoed by the great Western media and the Autocrat became a real nightmare for every American airman; in the following months the Euro-American war council authorized the deployment of thousands of commands to the outskirts of Moscow in order to neutralize in soil the Autocrats - had become a matter of honor for the coalition and the USA... The S-500 Autocrat was a key component of the Russian anti-air defense system against "all that no other anti-aircraft system could shoot down", however due to the high cost of production and the latest technology involved was not produced in large scale as the S-300 Grumble for example - much more common to be seen in the war - but had its history written worldwide for its unique defense capabilities. Mi-48 Mastodon The Mi-48 Mastodon is the only class of "siege chooper" in the world that has ever produced or used during a war; his revolutionary concept - in theory - of a robust, agile and powerful helicopter capable to deploy on ground for artillery attacks brought unimaginable coverage benefits for the Federation's ground forces in WWIII. In practice the retractable 160mm cannon attached to Mastodon's armored fuselage ended up bringing more disadvantages than advantages: due to the additional weight of a embedded artillery system was necessary to reduce the thickness of armor, resulting in less protection; the engine, though powerful, not allowed the aircraft is faster than a Mi-24 - something not envisaged in the original design - other problems was related to the mechanical/hydraulic system for quick deployment of the siege chooper: constantly had problems due to fatigue or malfunction of the components, which prevented the proper process of being completed. In 2048 the first Mi-48 began flying over the skies of "Red Europe". Reports that the Russians had created a helicopter capable of becoming an artillery quickly become something worrying to the ECA generals that predicted their fortified positions being saturated by a highly-mobile and therefore unexpected threat. on February 13, 2048 a group of aero-mobile artillery landed in the Czech Republic - Nitra region - to bomb stationed enemy resistance in the Austrian border; of the 18 Mastodon involved in the operation only 6 were successful in fulfilling the mission; the rest of the siege choopers had different types of problems being abandoned in the region. A voluntary pilot/cannoneer known by the nickname "The Hunter" - 2049 - reported their dissatisfaction with the Mastodon: "At first glance an impressive machine... but when you try to use the retractable cannon just does not work as expected... it's a big disappointment for me because the Mastodon should be an ace up its sleeve of the glorious Federation..." Yet, for almost two years, the legendary "The Hunter" was able to neutralize countless panzers along with his crew; one day your Mastodon crashed in the Netherlands and his fate became uncertain. The Mi-48 Mastodon turned out to be just another one of the inglorious and strange inventions of Russians throughout history; many say the project went wrong due to the fact of the helicopter have been produced in a hurry to be introduced immediately in the war - a serious imprudence - however some say that the project should never have gone out of their blueprint due to clear physics/mechanical violations; anyway the Mastodon was the only "siege chopper" in the world to be designed - a feat worthy of Russians. ------------------------- EDIT: Some minor fix according to suggestions posted here. EDIT 2: Added the Mi-48 Mastodon (read and have fun with this joke unit ) PS: If someone has any suggestions for a real or fictional unity interesting to Russia during WWIII plz write here; I will try to write a related lore and eventually update this topic. Just a friently improvement hint:
For decades before the Chinese conceiving the Nuke Cannon or the English Claymore Howitzer, Russians already had the Tyulpan as sovereign self-propelling artillery with his formidable 240mm cannon with range of up to 420 kms; It's not the weapon that has a range of 420 kilometres, but the vehicle itself, as in, it can drive that far on a decent road until it stops. According to wiki, the actual weapon range is about 9.6 kilometres which can be boosted to 20 kilometres with special munitions. For comparison, a typical self-propelled howitzer like the German PzH-2000 can fire up to 30 kilometres or as far as 56 with special munitions, though supposedly Italy seems to be working on a 100 kilometre shell. Good read. Nice Thanks, glad you liked it. Think You could rename that to shattered-skies operation you know cause "reference" Done, thank you. QUOTE At the rear when the Chinese began their ground advance at full-force - 2050 - the Tyulpans defended the motherland from the hordes until the enemy artillery could obliterate them with superior napalm-nuclear firepower. i'm guessing this is part of the Fan-Fiction element, as I don't think MARs has confirmed whether the Chinese actually crossed the border or just flexed their muscle. But anyway I'm nit picking and being a killjoy. Its great and as well written as the ECA one, can't wait for the rest. -------------------- A place where I posted my idea about a possible take on the Post-Red Alert 2 Command and Conquer universe: Reimagining Post Red Alert 2

Indeed is an assumption made by me because of the growing escalation of the crisis on the border between Russia and China; then 2050 appears to be a suitable date. Thanks for the comment, I write more soon (the next faction should be the USA I think).
