Now that I'm back from my sickness here is a torrent of updates:

The Making of XCOM 2:

The Evolution of XCOM in 21 years:
IGN

Bradford during the Interregnum (Period between XCOM EU/EW and XCOM 2:
From the Official Site:

"After XCOM was defeated during the first invasion, Central was forced to retreat underground. Technically, Bradford was already underground, deep in the XCOM base – but, more specifically, he went on the run.

As XCOM 2 Lead Producer Garth DeAngelis describes Central, he was "sort of the organizational mastermind of XCOM: Enemy Unknown" and "lived to build XCOM."

"He was always behind the scenes and always loyal," DeAngelis added during a recent livestream. "Because he lived in the underground base and he wanted to see XCOM thrive, what happened was XCOM was betrayed and lost very early in Enemy Unknown. He became a broken man."

"He's older, he's more grizzled, he's more hardened and he's been sort of wandering aimlessly. He didn't get captured by the aliens. He didn't fall under the aliens' sway, but he's been living on the periphery - on the run - with remnants of a resistance movement. He hasn't had motivation until the inciting incident of XCOM 2, which the player will have to learn about when playing the game. But there's a very cool reason why XCOM wants to redeem humanity."

You’ll be able to discover that “cool reason” when XCOM 2 launches this November."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Viper get's Unconfortably Close:
From the Official Site:

"You aren’t safe.

There’s nowhere to run.

There’s nowhere to hide.

You have to face this, because you cannot evade … the Viper.

XCOM 2’s Viper unit, the evolution of XCOM: Enemy Unknown’s Thin Man, is arguably one of the most dangerous foes threatening XCOM. With her long tongue, the Viper can pull your units from cover and draw them out into the open. Get close enough to the Viper and she will pounce, wrapping her lengthy reptilian frame around your soldier with her Bind ability - which, if left unchallenged, will eventually drop your soldier.

A Viper exits an ADVENT convoy and prepares to strike at XCOM

As if that wasn’t enough to fear, this genetic abomination also carries a gun. So, in the situation where a Viper is unable to get close to your units, she can safely shoot from afar. The odds truly are stacked against XCOM.

Oh, and the Viper spits venom too. The ADVENT administration is without mercy, Commander, so expect to see Vipers on the battlefield early on in your campaign, as you attempt to free humanity from these cruel overlords.

XCOM 2 launches on PC this November.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ranger Tactical Info:
From the Official Site

"In XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within, close-quarter combat options were fairly limited – even more so for melee. That all changes with XCOM 2’s new class of soldier, the Ranger.

The Ranger carries the usual shotgun or assault rifle loadout, depending on the player’s choice, but the Ranger’s secondary weapon, a sword, offers more unique methods of dispatching aliens. No longer will all XCOM operatives be forced to withdraw back to cover when confronted face-to-face with the enemy. The Ranger can stand tall and cut down would-be aggressors at very intimate distances.

The Ranger is an evolution of the Assault class from XCOM: Enemy Unknown. In XCOM 2, the Ranger can support your other troops as a nimble scout-type, deftly moving about the battlefield conducting recon or assisting lone troops, or you can simply jack up the damage output and make your Ranger a dealer in death, to be feared by all xenos across the planet.

And, the best part about the Ranger is that swords never require a reload. Slice, shake off the blood, move on and slice some more.

The Ranger can also take advantage of the concealment phase in unique ways. By focusing on the Ranger’s damage output, players can set up this soldier in such a way that he/she takes on the biggest baddies on the battlefield – which is an invaluable proposition when taking on ADVENT’s strongest units. Or maybe you’ll use your Ranger as a tip of the spear and unit for the enemy to focus on while the remainder of your squad takes shots from a comfortable distance?

The Ranger walks with a satisfying swagger after cutting down a Sectoid

No matter how you’ll plan to use the Ranger, one thing is certain: This is one incredibly versatile unit, and will be essential to XCOM’s march toward victory when XCOM 2 launches this November."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old enemy with new tricks:
From the Official Site:

"The Sectoid from XCOM: Enemy Unknown makes a return in XCOM 2, but even the least-observant soldier on the battlefield is bound to notice some new characteristics. See how the Sectoid is taller and almost human-like now? That’s no coincidence!

Through human gene manipulation, the alien invaders have managed to breed a new version of the Sectoid. This improved Sectoid gains a hefty, intimidating frame, all while retaining its well-known psionic abilities. One such ability is called Mindspin, a roulette-type mental attack that has a chance to disorient a soldier. Mind Control also makes a return, though in XCOM 2 it’ll be a much more early-game threat.

As for weaponry, Sectoids will once again brandish their patented wrist-mounted blaster. The Sectoid pictured above must have forgotten its weapon at home.

However, no amount of human genes, can keep the Sectoid’s face from looking downright grotesque. The same can be said for its lipless mouth and grotesque rows of teeth.

The Sectoid will once again be an early-game enemy in XCOM 2, but this time around the alien trooper will not be the first roadblock in XCOM’s path to victory. Sectoids in XCOM 2 will almost serve as a sort of superior to ADVENT’s grunts. And using their Psi Reanimate ability, these improved Sectoids can now raise anyone from the dead – ADVENT soldiers, civilians and, yes, even XCOM soldiers.

XCOM 2 launches this November."

Okay so watching it I gotta ask:

A cargo plane, Its the big ones that we somehow got? How did Xcom get one of theese? They were lategame ships that had alot of foes inside them, I thought we died out at around conventional weapons.

Still I can say I already miss the cheif engineer, what made him special was the things he said after each autopsy.Asking where would we draw the line as the foe had modified themselves to extreeme extents.

Considering that Enemey witnhn and its extra "upgrades" for the soldiers didnt get discoverd, I hope his daughter will be somewhat silently protesting genetic modifcations etc

Btw: Any news on Dr.Vallhallen? Shes my waifu :3

A french german mixture, brilliant mind and good taste in music...Oh and shes paranoid too tongue.gif

Hope she returns too

Is there any confirmed or cannonical way that was anounced? Cause Bradford wasnt revealed till very later...She could be an important mission, and heck even Agent 47, the spokesmen of the world counsil is there and somewhat unalterd by time.

If a game is clearly set up to be the sequel to another, it is only natural for people to at least expect some mention of previous events or characters, that's why. Seeing how XCOM2 will include Bradford as well as a relative of Dr. Shen, I would also imagine that Dr. Vahlen would at least be mentioned at some point. Perhaps it turns out that she's a high value prisoner in some alien compound that needs to be rescued, some side-quest giver you meet along the way or heck, maybe there's a plot twist of her collaborating with the ADVENT government now, or something like that.

In the avenger video, Tygan refers to an ADVENT chip that was removed from the Commander’s (your) head. It appears to be some sort of control chip or brainwave one or something like that. He refers to removing it from your brain and it is suggested that he had one removed from him too. In the video, both the Garth DeAngelis and Jake Solomon ones’, they are at pains to emphasise that Dr Vahlen was “lost”. Exactly what lost means is up for debate but as MARS said, it could mean she’s dead, in hiding, mind-controlled, imprisoned or willingly working with ADVENT to usher in a new age.

As well as this- apparently at PAX there were some new enemy reveals- namely, the Faceless, who lurk inside bodies and explode out when they need to and the ADVENT Shock Lancer, who is a Melee trooper.
