For what it's worth (and for the benefit of anyone searching how to get ROTR 1.8x running on Mac), I ended up going the Boot Camp* route and of course it runs great on an older MacBook Pro Retina. But... make sure the Boot Camp partition size is at least, say, 70GB for Windows (and future Windows updates, drivers, etc.), downloaded maps and other minor add-ons, saved games, etc. Repartitioning, re-installing Windows, downloading Windows Updates, configurations, etc. are no fun at all.

And if you're running the game on a Mac there will be issues with keyboard shortcut compatibility (even more-so when using Boot Camp), causing all kinds of fun and frustration. I don't know if using an external Windows keyboard would help with this.

I can't wait for ROTR 2.0, I hope it happens soon. But my real-world productivity will go down.

Paul

* Parallels points to the Boot Camp ROTR install also, so at least I can make and test modifications in Windows Parallels without having to reboot. Gameplay is slow for testing but that's not too bad since it's only testing.
