Now that 1.85 have been released, we should start editing the wiki making a good overhaul of almost all articles, not just completing the incomplete ones:

-Add stadistics (attack, health, armor, etc...) to all units & buildings articles
-Edit all the units & buildings overviews, tactics & strategies part from their articles
-Complete & add all the lore articles
-We should try to make complete guides for each of the factions of the mod.

Don't add statistsics (specifically health, damage and rate of fire, everything else is more or less fine), unless you want to correct them with each patch. Wait till this version stabilises like 1.802 did.

I have completely revised the Recycler article; added a proper description, fully described the Recycling system in detail, wrote about the downsides, and so forth.

http://generalsrotr.wikia.com/wiki/Recycle...t&section=7

c-c-check it.

I wonder what song that was played as one of the quotes when the Shenlong is selected? I'm now adding information about the units in 1.85 to the wiki.

I'm gonna update some pics of GLA units. Do we need to have a picture of ALL their variations from in-game?

No, just 2 or 3 Technicals for example should be enough, 2 Scorps maybe, and everything else only 1.

Should there be some note saying that the Recycler upgrades and bomb upgrades can work together with each other and are not overwritten? It confused me at first when I tried it out.

Should we add credits for who did the voice-overs for units with custom VOs?

Hello,

I can't find that old thread anymore which would have provided me the answer and because I don't want to open an extra thread for this, I'll just ask here:

In the old thread I asked why the ECA Generals are called by their first name (which sounds pretty silly) and the answer was IIRC that the first names were easier to pronounce. And apart from that I remember that in the old thread it sounded as if this applied to all the generals.
Now I just recognized that all other generals except for the ECA ones are called properly by their surnames.

General Griffon cool.gif , General Zhukov cool.gif , General Chen cool.gif , General Ibrahim cool.gif ... General Wolfgang wrist.png 8gay.png

So why is this oddity only applying to ECA? Makes them quite ridiculous actually huh.gif

This was done when there was no overarching lore yet, and back then, purely for the sake of convenience, because The Hunter found that their given names would be more memorable. This was never meant to suggest that they don't have 'real' names (they do, as can be seen in their MTG profiles) and the story refers to them by their full names as well, so for all intents and purposes, this is a tiny thing that you will probably only see in-game or any documentations where the generals are looked at purely as in-game entities. Another reason is the fact that after all those years, the old given name address simply caught on, meaning that various people would be confused if we started calling them General Cutting, Van der Meer and Von Kürten all of a sudden. You can chalk it off as one of those early development minutia that stuck for convenience's sake.

On a sidenote, the GLA generals, who had their names dictated to us by the unreleased Alpha version of Generals, have given names for last names as well.

Okay, thank you very much for your answer, I get it now.

Nevertheless:

this is a tiny thing that you will probably only see in-game

I am not into the lore that much or better said, I don't consider the lore more important than the game at all. So the fact that I "only see [it] in-game" pretty much means that I'll see it "everywhere" wink.gif (if you get what I mean?).

Just out of interest and of course only for personal or LAN-with-friends-purposes: Would someone tell me the location of those names when 2.0 is finally out? Or is changing those (even for personal/LAN purposes) totally unwanted?

Any text strings are contained in a file named generals.str so if you want to change that, go ahead. It doesn't affect the gameplay with other people at all (if it did, translations would be impossible).

If no one else wants to, I can take pictures of all new in-game models and units and post them on the wiki. However I am not good at writing descriptions, counters and such so someone else will have to do that.

I just had a browse on the wiki and I noticed that someone tried to be clever and changed various weapon calibres in ways that openly contradict the descriptions. This includes the Crusader (165mm should be 105mm), Leopard (170mm should be 125mm), Manticore (255mm should be 155mm), Kodiak (195mm should be 125mm) and perhaps others which I cannot verify at the moment. If anyone wants to correct this, I would also like to give out the following guideline: Leave out numerical calibre designations or specific weapon model names entirely unless they are specifically identified in the official render description. It's a bit shameless that someone just went ahead and changed all of these whilst openly contradicting official information and I don't want to open the wiki up to that, so who ever decides to act upon this, please remove all calibre sizes except the ones that are mentioned in the canon render description and, if applicable, if the vehicle in question is based directly on an existing piece of hardware. Thank you very much for the assistance.

Can't we just prevent any non-user from editing pages? "A Wikia Contributor" isn't really contributing when he's just messing things up, right?

Some future plan mod for AoE3:Asian Dynasty or FO4

Yes, he is pretty messing up some information on wikia. For example, like this with comment: http://generalsrotr.wikia.com/wiki/Special...ons_General_Mau

I tried correct or removed twice with J-20 as not official confirm name, but he tries bring back that name twice after I edited.

That sounds like a reasonable idea to me, I suppose we can give this a try and see if we can avoid such changes by disabling non-user edits. For what it's worth, I'd prefer it be possible to identify the people who make changes.

Is there any way to remove pages? Cause I'm looking at the Composite Armor and Escalation upgrades which/who (?) are pretty much redundant.

Somebody wrote incorrect quotes for Recycler. The lines are not in the correct place. For example, quotes for Russia T1 is written for T2.

I found heresy in the Rise of the Reds Timeline page! It appears some up-and-coming editor decided to have fun and add a whole bunch of events that haven't been confirmed canon! Now I don't know who edited them, it might be MARS for all I know, but here is a rundown of all the heretical additions edited in, in order of appearance:

-The editor expanded upon the 9/11 point; is this really necessary?
-ISIS is mentioned, as well as other terrorist groups, to have joined the GLA in 2019. Is this true?
-The ISS is apparently de-orbited above the Pacific Ocean in 2020? Is this planned?
-Mentions are made of something called an Atlas V45 rocket sent a module up to the USS/NAUSS Pennsylvania, as well as other space agencies and companies make contracts with NASA? Is this true?
-The Socialist South Asian Nations are mentioned to have formed before GAPA, and then forgotten about. Is this necessary?
-Wolfgang and Charles embark on some operations in North Africa despite their mutual dislike of one another? Is this true?
-The Budapest Accords where China phases out their neutron weapons; did this happen?
-A whole heap of bullsh*t from 2049 onwards, mentioning full-scale war breaking out between China and Russia, nukes getting set off, joint US/Chinese invasion of Vladivostok and Siberia, rioting in Crimea by pro-GLA fighters of all people..? This can't be canon, can't it?

These edits need to be stopped. I do believe however that whoever made these intrusions likes ROTR lore and wants to expand on it, maybe if he would have contacted us first it would have been better. Unless MARS is actually the one that made these additions...

The 9/11 one is at least factual and I recall we referenced it before, but those new references to ISIS, Boko Haram and any mentions of 'Islamic', I want removed immediately, because there'll always be some idiot who uses these to incite a flame war. Generally speaking, I don't want tooconnect to many in-game with current RL events during the 'transitional years' from 2015 till 2019, because I only wanted to include some RL dates as starting points and then have only fictional events, since we -never- claimed this was in any way a 'serious' prediction story at all. The ISS bit, I suppose, can be kept since this is indeed planned, as can be the 2024 Pennsylvania bit as long as someone removes the RL company names. That one-off mention of the SSAN is indeed unnecessary and confusing and should be changed to the GAPA instead for simplicity's sake. The bit about Wolfgang and Charles having vastly different leadership styles (not actually meant as a dislike) was there before and is official, as are the Budapest Accords which are part of the lore from before I took over. The 2049 bits -after- the first entry in that year are all false fan speculation given out as fact and should therefore be removed immediately. Feel free to include correct entries up to the second battle of Berlin in April based on previous updates.

The timeline has been fixed. I also cut the ECA lore portion in half, so that it is short, quick and informative, not bloated with information and has plenty of links to all three generals, superweapon and one special weapon.
