SWR Productions Forum _ Rise of the Reds _ Shock Trooper SFX

I've been playing SW for years and absolutely love it, so I figured it was finally time to give ROTR a go.

Talking from a fresh perspective as someone who has never played ROTR before, I have to say, the first thing that really stood out for me is the Russian shock troopers gun fire. The volume of the gunfire is literally dwarfing everything else thats going on.
Anyone else notice this?

First of, welcome to the forums smile.gif hope you will enjoy.

Then, the shock division is a group of soldiers that create fear on the battlefield. Their weapons do as much damage to the morale as they do to the bodies. And that's why they got their unique and distinct sound.

I never personally found it overwhelming, but if the general opinion tends towards reducing the volume, it might be considered.

I always found the sound of Shock Trooper's Rocket Rifle strange and a bit too loud in relation to the other sounds of the game, so I decided to listen to the sound of some other weapons based on gyrojet munitions (rocket ammo), curiously I realized that the sound of it is actually muffled, rather than being strident as represented in the game.

In articles about ammunition it is also described as silent and "low-noise", which makes me believe that in fact the sound of the gun is not so different from a shot from a normal rifle with a silencer.

Shock Trooper rifles aren't purely rocket projectiles,

They are fired like normal bullets but use a small rocket jet to sustain them over distance.
Otherwise there would be no reason for them to eject those big shell casings.

True, I did not remember... The question is how did they manage to create this 30mm ammunition (two projection mechanisms in a single 30mm ammunition)? ohmy.gif

NYET, RIFLE SOUND IS FINE. WHY YOU WANT THAT PUSSY SOUND LIKE AMERICAN TACTI COOL WEAPONS. RUSSIA IS STRONG, IT DESERVES STRONG SOUND FOR WEAPON, THIS WEAPON IS GIFT OF MOTHERLAND. IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH AS PROCURED FROM ALEXANDER ENGINEER TEAM FOR YOU? THEN MAYBE YOU FIND JOB WITH ARMY OF RUSSIA! YOU HAVE DRINKS WITH ALEXANDER, TRADE STORY OF MANY WEAPONS DESIGNED AND DETAILS OF SCHOOL FOR ENGINEERING!

OR MAYBE YOU NOT DO THIS. PROBABLY IS BECAUSE YOU NEVER DESIGN WEAPON IN WHOLE LIFE. YOU LOOK AT FINE RUSSIAN RIFLE, THINK IT NEED CRAZY SHIT STICK ON ALL SIDES OF WEAPON. YOU HAVE DISEASE OF AMERICAN CAPITALIST, CHANGE THING THAT IS FINE FOR NO REASON EXCEPT TO LOOK DIFFERENT FROM COMRADE. YOU PUT CHEAP FLASHLIGHT OF CHINESE SLAVE FACTORY ON ONE SIDE, YOU PUT BAD SCOPE OF AMERICAN MIDDLE WEST ON OTHER SIDE, YOU PUT FRONT PISTOL GRIP ON BOTTOM SO YOU ARE LIKE AMERICAN MOVIE GUY JOHN RAMBO. MAYBE YOU PUT STUPID CAMO ON TOP TO HIDE YOURSELF FROM SHAME.

P.S. It's just a joke, don't take me seriously tongue.gif

for real, needs a bit reduction of volume

I have to agree with the sentiment here that his gun's volume is really really loud. The effect itself is powerful, but I think it could retain that even with a volume reduction.

So we basically have a flame/radiation resistant self-healing brutes armed with bolter-like projectiles. Aren't they bring justice to heretics in the name of the ̶E̶m̶p̶e̶r̶o̶r̶ General Alexander biggrin.gif

They are actually https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrojet, which is what 40k's bolters are based on.
