I have a completely legitamate copy of Cnc generals deluxe edition, but I can't patch it, so I can't play the mod! I've tried patching it but It stops at worldbuilder.exe "Old file not found, a similar one was found-" I've tried uninstalling and changing directories and all that, can someone tell me what to do so I can fix it?

Hello Meteormike
Welcome to the forums You did try to patch the deluxe edition you should not do that. Please follow this manual http://wiki.falloutstudios.net/wiki/Manual...ve/Installation QUOTE The First Decade 1. Remove any other modifications. (To be sure, or if you run into problems on the first try, uninstall Zero Hour and reinstall it to the default directory, which should be C:\Program Files\EA Games\. If you choose to install into a different directory, keep a note of where you have installed it.) 2. Run the game to make sure it works properly as-is. You do should not try to patch the game as it is already patched to 1.04 out of the box. 3. Download and run the ShockWave 0.95 installer. After accepting the terms of the license agreement, it will ask for a directory for the modification to be installed to. Using the browse feature, go to the following, default installation directory on your computer: C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour. If you installed it to a different directory, then this is the point in which you need to browse to find the folder you installed Zero Hour to. 4. Allow the ShockWave installation to complete. (Note this will take some time at 9% as it is uncompressing a 300Mb file.) 5. To ensure that the modification has been installed correctly, browse to the folder where Zero Hour is installed and look for a file named 0sw95.gib. If you can find this file then the installation has been successful. Otherwise, you may need to uninstall ShockWave and try it again, this time installing to the proper location. 6. Download and install the ShockWave 0.951 patch using the same method. It must be installed to the same location as Zero Hour and ShockWave 0.95. Where to go next At this point, you are ready to run ShockWave. Go to your start menu and find the ShockWave folder, and then click on the ShockWave executable to run the game. At this point you should see a new launcher come up, orange and displaying the ShockWave logo. It should run and load to shell map. To check that you are running the correct version - go to the Skirmish menu and look at the map listing - if you can see Bloodmatch Stadium 1 (a 2 player map which was included only with version 0.951), then you are running the correct version. -------------------- |

Hello Meteormike Welcome to the forums You did try to patch the deluxe edition you should not do that. Please follow this manual http://wiki.falloutstudios.net/wiki/Manual...ve/Installation It says to patch Deluxe on that I have Deluxe, not First Decade. And it is the right language. Sorry i mixed that
My wrong Can you give us more info like what is your OS / language of the game and so on? QUOTE Zero Hour or Deluxe 1. Remove any other modifications. (To be sure, or if you run into problems on the first try, uninstall Zero Hour and delete the folder which contained Zero Hour, then reinstall the game. If you change the default path you will need to keep this information.) 2. Patch the game to version 1.04. [1] 3. Run the game to make sure it works properly as-is. 4. Download and install ShockWave 0.95. Make sure the path matches your Zero Hour installation folder. (Note this will take some time at 9% as it is uncompressing a 300Mb file.) 5. Run ShockWave 0.95 to make sure it loads, by using the ShockWave icon that was placed on your desktop during installation. 6. Download and install the ShockWave 0.951 patch using the same method. It must be installed to the same location as Zero Hour and ShockWave 0.95. Did you follow this exactly? -------------------- |

English Vista home basic, I've played the mod on this Comp before but this has happened ever since it was uninstalled. I did follow that exactly though. It says the technical difficulties error, I think it's because the patches won't work. This post has been edited by Meteormike: 5 Aug 2009, 10:38 |

QUOTE Save data will be installed to C:\Users\Account name\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data. This map you have to delete before you do a new install. If you did try other mods it can be there are file that are corrupt (this was reported by some user in the past) So the best way is to clean out all Generals and ZH stuff before you do a new install. http://wiki.falloutstudios.net/wiki/Manual...tallation_Guide -------------------- |

yes, the whole folder, mod files do not get deleted with an uninstall so you have to manually get rid of the folder to remove everything.

Try reinstalling the game in a different folder. This. Did you give the installer administrative permissions? -------------------- |

Just wondering, where did you get the patch from? IIRC filefronts version gives that error as I had it too.

if you uninstall and then install the game in a different dirrectory it will simply auto detect that new installation location and patch there.

The patch automatically detects where you last installed the game (when installing the game, it creates a registry entry to the location, if you install in a new location it overwrites the older entry), so as long as you're patching the latest installed version, then it should be fine.
