I meh at this movie. I personally hate these stupid, omg-the-world-is-ending-arbitrarily movies. I like plot, and I like good acting. Epic destruction and battles can make a good movie great, but if it doesn't fit into the plot, it just makes a mediocre movie pretentious.

Also, that movie was bad.

First thoughts:

- I can't wait for this whole 2012 apocalypse craze to end. It's Y2k and Nostradamus all over again.
- The movie looks amazingly cheesy with the most enjoyable bits being the scenes where stuff gets fucked up.
- I do, however, sense some nice schadenfreude potential in there. Looks like the Vatican isn't so godly after all.
- Obvious symbolism is obvious. A flood wave lobs an aircraft carrier right at the White House. Gee, I wonder what that's supposed to mean.

I might add this director was also responsible for "Stargate"*, "Independance Day", "Godzilla", "The Day After Tomorrow" and "10,000 BC". So yeah, expectations zero.

*Not to be confused with the Stargate TV series, those are awesome.

Hm, when he made 'Independance Day', I really start to wonder what happened after that - all his later films had no potential to be at least half as good as 'Independance Day' Same for the actual one.

Stargate best series evr, Independence day was good and surprisingly 10,000 BC wasnt that bad i enjoyed it. as for this 2012 i mean looks interesting but prob wont see it in theaters

Its getting annoying honestly , 2000 , 2008 , 2009 , 2012 get over it something huge is happening but not anything catastrophic.
But not all people do actually think this way.

People are registering there E-mail address on that website which apparent scientist who i cant even get a background check on other the site. (Once i remember what the site is ill push it here) You honestly gotta remember any race can change when brung to the near end of extinction.

People change when they experience a near death catastrophe. Rayburn please seriously take in consideration of all the children Under 18 who didn't get a chance to make a decision for them self's instead someone or something make it for them honestly its a Load of crap and should be treated as so.

About the site their trying to apparently put humans in some kinda safe city just in case this so called planet hits or something gone crazy happens.

So that so called protect the race thing wont work out anyways,
I Honestly dought the world will end as humans have struggled through so much during the past of the century desiease , economic problems , humans all managed to by pass it weather it nearly killed them in the process or not. this is not the end of the world as we know it , Its makes no clear sense to Spread Propaganda about it

I would say I actually quite enjoy apocalyptic films, or more post-apocalyptic (like Resident Evil 3).

What Zhao is referring to is the Viral Website, which I thought was mildly entertaining to say the least. (As a media student, I am a big fan of virals as they give off a great amount to write about and study, for me anyway.)
