By far extremely underpowered for a Anti Air unit. Very weak and even has problems killing helicopters. At this point they are useless and not even worth making. Igla's they suck. Why?

not to mention they are one AA lvl below the light anti air vehical which makes them super duper light AA they are useful because of the ability to mass in short amount of time plus helies take awhile to kill around 100 troops as apposed to 5 or 6 AA vehicles

Buy at least 6 of them in a group and come back to say that again my friend. In mass, they're quite destructive and sometimes even more effective than grumbles or Tunguska's. This is of course aimed towards Jets, or helicopters.
They're cheap, fast, and really meant to go in numbers -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |

Sorry I left a part out. They have proven to me to suck vs air in large numbers as well.

IGLA troops are very good if you put them into garrison building or supporting your troops (let enemy heli shoot at conscripts while your IGLA shoot at them).

I'm pretty certain they are at very least equaly good against air targets as other anti air infantry like missile defenders.

@The_Hunter: They are indeed, but IMO it takes less hits to kill them than similar infantry, hence the medikit

Having worked it out, you need approximately 6/7 Igla soldiers to destroy a non-Countermeasures Raptor, all firing at the same time.
Igla Soldiers cost $200, so that's $200 x 6 = $1200 (same cost as the Raptor). This does not take into account the Raptor's speed/evasiveness. Not sure how the reduced vision range affects all of this with auto-fire on acquired targets, but the Igla Trooper is extremely underpowered (not cost effective) or AirPlaneArmor has too much resistance, depending on how you look at it. That's enough balance spamming from me for one morning. -------------------- |

Anyways Igla's are not really the best to counter your air troubles but they're cheap enough to field and spam them and do create quite the hastle to helicopters and pretty much 2 shot Commanches and Cobras in mass. -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |

What makes it even worse is that AI Tunguskas prioritize Comanches over everything else =/ Now where is a CAS Harrier when you need one outside of the ECA

I usually just rush tunguskas out since you get them right off the bat when you build a tank factory. They shouldn't have built helicopters by the time you have Tunguskas, even if they have, then 3 tunguskas are a really nice anti-air defense for comanches.

yeah Igla troop are really effective,BUT when it comes to Hind's Igla upgrade, then really sucks. I got a chance to clash 2 Hinds VS 2 Cobras. And guess what? Hind's 1 Cobras 2,with 2nd cobra got a bit damaged. So my point is that Igla Upgrade needs a power buff. Just to point out.

well technically it's too early to bitch about balance changes anyway as the mod isn't done yet.
