SWR Productions Forum _ Hecthor Doomhammer Streaming Service _ Behind the scenes

Posted by: Hecthor Doomhammer 30 Apr 2014, 17:29

Earlier this week I bought a new microphone and pop filter thanks to donations I've received up until last week.
And for the occsion I decided to make some photos and showcase them to give you guys an idea what goes on behind the scenes when I record/stream from now on

To start off, a little close up from behind my dinner table/desk focussing on the items on there.
The wooden tray is for convenience sake because I couldn't mount the pop filter on any of the sides of my table tongue.gif The pop Filter has a diameter of 135mm, pure steel mesh, no fabric and a flexible arm. It's considered to be a universal pop filter.

The microphone itself is a Audio Technica AT2020 USB Mic, not actually facing towards me when I'm sitting on my sofa. This is because when the mic is facing me, it picks up a lot of echo, but this way it doesn't.

The headphones on my laptop, is actually my old headset, but with the mic flipped up so it's not active. It's being held together with tie-wraps and transparent household tape

The laptop is a 17.3" Samsung np355E7C-s04nl with Windows 8.This is what I use to monitor the Twitch chat, see if the stream still is live, monitor Trillian's IRC when I stream YR mods (I turn it off when streaming RotR) and do text chats while streaming in Skype.

Also, in the tray a random brand 4-way USB splitter.
And yes, the book on the sofa at the very end is the Necronomicon.

From the left of my desk, Mic now facing towards me
The large screen is a Panasonic 37" flatscreen tv, 4x HDMI, 3x Scart, 1x Sd card. I don't remember the specific type of the TV.
Also, don't get me started on the PC (big black box you see below the TV) It contains all different kinds of parts and I don't remember any of them.
Except it runs on Windows 7

This 1 is taken from my point of view
The program I use for streaming (and recording of the streams) is Open Broadcaster Software. For the recording of random matches in Mental Omega, and all the editing of the videos I use Camtasia Studio 8
Also, voice chat (ie for co-commentators) I aslo use Skype on my PC (text chat is purely on my Laptop)
That musical instrument at the back wall is a Serbian Gusle tongue.gif.

Hope you enjoyed this and I'll post more pictures when I've done more upgrades oon my set up.

See you guys next time.

That was interesting.
Thanks Hecthor smile.gif.

But what is that crazy Banjo in the background biggrin.gif?

That's a Serbian Gusle. Comedian (a no longer active member here) got it for me (I did pay for it)

That's an interesting choice, as in the mic you ended up with was my particular choice during my wannaupgrademygear times, but then I found my current Auna with a bargain price and so I dropped the plan of getting such AT 2020.
