Zero Hour can only hold up to 15 factions, and since the upcoming v2.0 release in the future will have 3 unique sub-sides each of the 5 factions, for a total of 15, which unfortunately, there will be no vanilla sides in v2.0. However, the next beta version will still have the vanilla sides only (including the GLA and ECA). Also, welcome to the SWR Forums...

In that case, will Shockwave have the base factions in addition to the Generals? As for RotR, once 2.0 is out, perhaps the final verison with vanilla factions could be kept for download as I really enJoy playing them.

The way RotR does it it only takes 5 of the 15 slots, so it is definitely possible, but regardless it has been long since decided that the vanilla factions are just placeholders.
And yes, ShockWave will always have the vanilla factions (unless something drastic has changed). This post has been edited by Murray: 19 Nov 2009, 8:38 -------------------- |

So we won't see the vanilla factions in 2.0 as all the slots are taken by the Generals?

I think what he means is to have a similar system the current shockwave where you still get USA, China and GLA eventhough they have new units. I don' think it would happen with the final ROTR release though.

No, you're not seeing the vanilla factions because they won't be in it.It's functionally possible but last I checked having vanilla factions in the future versions would be against what has been decided. -------------------- |

In the 2.0 release you will still choose either USA, Russia, China, GLA or ECA. But once in game with your "vanilla" faction, you'll have to chose a general in order to begin the game

Yes, you choose your General in-game at the start from your Command Centre. Then your Dozer goes online and you can start playing. If you do not decide, well, you cannot play.

If you do not decide, well, you cannot play. sorry to bit offtopic, but I have an idea. how if besides adding subfaction buttons on starting command center, also put "random subfaction" button? so if you didn't really care about subfaction just click the button and you get random subfaction. -------------------- |

That too, and apart from it, you cannot make a 'random' button afaik. Also, why would you want a random General, is it not enough you can choose 'random faction'? because we only can choose faction in the menu. so if choose random faction, you still should choose the subfaction on the command center. in ZH/Shockwave if we choose Random we will got random subfaction, not only base faction. anyway, using a random button looks more fair rather than closing eyes and click. random button actually works like GLA technical or fundamentalist. you create on same button, but got different unit. or, if not a random button, how if you haven't choose a general for some time, the command center will automatically replace with random subfaction command center? -------------------- |

Yeah because that is a unit, and apart form the look the unit is the same, also the button is not responsible for that. or, if not a random button, how if you haven't choose a general for some time, the command center will automatically replace with random subfaction command center? That would probably do as a kind of failsafe. |

The chance of some body using the random button is 1 to a googol*
