Hi, I am having a little bit trouble with new and revised maps, not showing up in the game. Also the classic cameos dose not load zerohour, just runs shockwave.

I am running win 7.

Update on this problem: I can access classic Zerohour, via desktop icon. Mapping problem effects both Zerohour and Shockwave, I.e. maps still not showing up in both games.

Classic cameos is for Shockwave not Zero Hour.

As for the maps, make sure your placing them in the correct Zero Hour folder (the one in Documents not Program Files).

OK thanks for the reply, all my maps are in the doc's folder and not in programs files, but you have not answered or solved the problem’s of why the maps are NOT showing up in both games.

Well you did not give many details aside from "I am running win 7", so I gave you the most common cause of maps not showing up in the game: placing it in the wrong folder.

Since you didn't give me anything to work with, I can't provide you with any more advice, so I suggest you follow the steps in this thread and perform a clean reinstall. Pay special attention to the information regarding windows 7 users.

Thank you very much angry.gif ! after doing a complete UN-install and reinstall, both classic and shockwave now crash and will not start. Now what, I suppose you are going to tell me to do it all again from scratch, right furious.gif

13:15 hrs. After much need sleep finally got game working, but still have problems with it.

First maps still missing from unofficial maps folder in game menu.

Second after reinstalling for the second time only shockwave plays, classic game not running and I have used the short cut off the desk top, the all programs link, nothing just shockwave.

I am just giving you what I know, whether it works or not depends on you. Be happy that you're even getting a reply.

Clean re-installs always works, it is the last resort when all other methods have failed. If it doesn't work for you then either you did something wrong, or your ZH itself is broken.

Shockwave's maps are found in the official maps section...

That is caused by either leftover files from an improper uninstall, or messing around with the launcher while playing. Usually, using the Shockwave repair tool fixes it, but if it doesn't your only hope is a clean reinstall.

Right OK, lets start from the beginning, as I think there is a communications break down, between what the problem is and your answers.

Firstly: I appreciate your help. With this

Secondly: The main problem that I am having is missing “Unofficial/user created maps”, not official maps. I.e. maps made by me at this point in time, because up until I installed shockwave I was able the run “Unofficial/user created maps”, with in the game. It is new maps created using shockwave or classic world builder that are not showing up, I.e. I can open and work on/build maps using world builder, then save the in the my documents folder, but they just do not show up in the game.

Thirdly: To recap it is “Unofficial/user created maps”, that are not showing up in the game. All classic/shockwave and older “Unofficial/user created maps”, maps show up fine. It is new maps created using shockwave and classic world builder that are not showing up, I.e. I can open and work on/build maps using world builder, then save the in the my documents folder, but they just do not show up in the game.

Fourthly: Please, please don’t tell me that as this is a problem surrounding world builder, it is not covered by tech support.

To be clear, what's the exact directory your saving your maps in?

Also, do the map names match their folder names? If not then that's the problem.

Hi Zeke, All map files are being saved the right location and with the right name, please see attached pictures for conformation of the location and map name.

Also this folder you mention in the thread

FOR WINDOWS 7 64 BIT USERS

- Go to your ZH folder (after patching to 1.04) and right click on "generals.exe" go to the "Compatibility" tab and set the compatibility mode to "Windows XP SP2" and check the box next to "Run as Administrator".

This folder is it in documents or programme files. As I have checked both folders and was unable to find it, I have even tried what Phoenix 1, said, all to no avail. Still no new unofficial/user created maps showing.

Attached File(s)
Attached File  ZeroHour_Map___Arms_Dealer.jpg ( 359.03K ) Number of downloads: 5
Attached File  ZeroHour_map_folders.jpg ( 272.53K ) Number of downloads: 6
Attached File  ZeroHour_Unoffical_map_list..jpg ( 262.5K ) Number of downloads: 4

How many maps do you have? IIRC, there's a limit to the number of custom maps you can have installed at a time.

"ZH folder" refers to the folder where you installed zero hour, which is usually in "Program Files" (since your using windows 7 it might be in "Program Files (x86)").

Hi Zeke, Total number of maps in fold was "354" and now it is “272”. But I still do not have any new maps showing up, so if the number is not the problem the I stuck.

Also I am still unable to locate the generals exe folder/file, I have check both generals and zerohour, missing from both.

IIRC the limit for custom maps for ZH is 100, so that's probably the reason.

Generals.exe is the game itself, it can't be missing, otherwise you wouldn't be able to play at all. Right click on the shortcut, select "Properties", then "Open File Location", that should take you to the file.

Hi Zeke, well after reducing the number of maps in the folder I found my missing map, but was not able to find it, I.e. the name was different (MISSING: ‘MAP: File Name). So I have put that map on the back burner for now.

Would you know where I can find an audio file that a script requires, as I have copied a script from one of the missions, but it says “Script ‘Audio_Reinforcements_Arrived’ dose not exist”. I know it must exist somewhere as when I open the script folder on the mission map, there is no problem.

Spec, why you do life harder, than it really is? You could ask me, and I'd give you mod and map pack.
