SWR Productions Forum _ Rise of the Reds _ What is the advantage of drone over normal vehicle?

Posted by: OrikoMikuni 22 Sep 2019, 10:25

Beside the cheap cost I realized it can't gain veterancy and the specialized nature of it make me started to think what should I pick between buying normal vehicle like Crusader or Guardian Drone for AT purpose and so on.

Drones:

Requires power but
They are immune to radiation and toxins
Immune to hijacking
Immune to pilot sniping-In ROTR's case pandora radiation
Immune to both levels of teargas
Self auto repair
Benefits from its own battleplans (However theres no reason to ever get anything else but shield honestly)

Also, against GLA, they do not drop salvage when destroyed, which is quite nice.

So, related to drones, what are some hard counters to those pesky little things? AT Drones tear the living shit out of my Blackbears and Sentinels.

Nice. No wonder why the America make a whole army of these drones. They are immune to so many thing. If they make a Terminator AI to command this whole army the Russia will pee their pant upon seeing this.

Could you please elaborate on how does that comment contribute to the discussion? Or anything else for that matter?

Bullet based damage, or if you have them: Sniper
AT drones are the only drones that take sniper damage, aside from that most AA and bullet based damage is sufficient

Heres a cheat: Mishka's have garrison bonus on their fire ports so they give extra range and damage (This was something that slipped through the cracks)
So right now they are (too) good, add conscripts to them for more range and damage

I thought Mishka always had that garrison bonus. unsure.gif

I didn't know it was a bug.

Anyway, great. Thanks for the tips. biggrin.gif

Drones are a must have vs GLA (microwave tank are still needed against GLA infantry GPs), Russia (AT Drones, Hunter Killer) and China specially because you won't make any use of Paladin's PDL (only against distuptor team) and Termite Drone are good against mass infantry spam if you take out troop crawlers (Black Lotus can still be use for detection), against other USA player, the Paladin tank is a late must have if you have the money, because most USA make use of missiles and vs ECA almost everything in your arsenal is usefull to some extent if you know where to hit, but probably your air and infantry power is the main focus instead of your land assets.

You're not causing trouble. I was genuinely interested as to what you meant by your statement and how it contributed to the discussion. Which is about a mod for an RTS video game.

If we're gonna talk about real life and the dubious (at best) performance of UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles, i.e. drones), then we should do so in http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=1558&st=425 thread.
