How would one go about it? I want individual upgrades that are removed after a bit.

Assuming this is for Zero Hour....you could try checking out the coding for the usa vehicle drones, e.g. Battle Drones. They are triggered via upgrades and they remove their own respective drone creation upgrade on their parent vehicle when dead. Using the drone's coding as a invisible dummy unit with a Lifetime Module would theoretically work the same way

but what's your purpose removing an upgrade?
even you can remove an upgrade you cannot revert the upgrade effects (in most case).

I want to have a temporary armor set that you can give to a unit via an abilty, which will turn off after a bit. Think of KW's Adaptive Armor, but without the health boost.

no, you cant. armor upgrade is not revertible.
even you remove the upgrade, the upgraded armor stays still.

The most you could do would be to revert commandsets on the unit

Bike logic could work for this, no?

no real need to use combat bike logic.
see how worker commandset switching works for the best example.

How do I apply an upgrade to all units in a radius using a special power or a psuedo special power and only to units with a certain kind of IF I can do it at all?

I'm not to familiar with zero hour ,but couldn't you make an upgrade that after a set amount of time has it spawn an invisible/untargetable object that triggers a 'upgrade' that gives the unit less armor?
