Hello ShockWave fans, The wait is almost over, and to ease the time in between we are taking the wraps off of two new model improvements you can expect to see in the forthcoming release. So without further ado we present to you the new F-22 Raptor which will be replacing the EA model used by the base USA faction, Laser and Superweapon Generals. The new Raptor model boasts many refinements that bring it closer to its real life counterpart, such as a larger cockpit area and undulating sections of the body. Statswise we have decreased the build time on the Raptor to address redundancy and make it a more viable option in online games so we expect you will be seeing a lot more of them in the future. Next up we have the new Nuke Cannon model, exclusive to General Tao. This new model packs a much larger variant of the original cannon and features several nuances in the cabin area and rear sections. Most notable is that the General's version uses two extra supporting weights to hold the vehicle in place before it fires. The additional weights further reduce shake and ensure the Nuke Cannon can deliver its payload with even deadlier accuracy, and an even larger blast. QUOTE Remember, General, don't look directly at the blast. We think this quote is apt. So that's it for this update, folks - we hope you liked it. We can assure the wait for 0.96 will be worth it so stay tuned as we have more news and updates for you right around the corner. Stinger, out. -------------------- |

You know, if you are giving this much love to EVERY model in the game, I can't wait to see what you have done for the whole game.

Awesome as always, nicely done!
I'm especially fond of the Raptor, not too RL-ish while not too cartoony. Nice! |

It is about realism to a certain extent. Designing units that COULD be seen in real life they look that convincing.

That raptor is rather boring in my opinion.
With the nuke cannon, although the front isn't so attractive, overall the model is an improvement. -------------------- |

Nice! The F-22 model is a subtle, but very cool improvement. Same with the Nuke Cannon. I assume the King Raptor will receive a similar overhaul soon (prob. same model, diff. skin)?

I seem to have seen those before
I know the awesomeness of the Nuke Cannon first hand though. Be warned. |

Looks good. But, lol @ the mirrored text on the tail of the Raptor I was just going to say this . Both models look great, though .-------------------- TN

The F-22 is a definite increase in the looks of the original model, but the mirrored text seriously detracts from its quality IMO. It's the Nuke Cannon that really makes this update; it is now a threatening monster and woe betide you if you get in its way!

Very nice enhancements, Hunter.
As the raptor is an aircraft, it's usually going to be moving too fast for you to care about the mirrored text anyway. I'm sure if you never saw the render you wouldn't notice it at all ingame. -------------------- |

I've been waiting for the new Tao-specific Nuke Cannon for quite some time. It looks very awesome. As for the Raptor, I don't really use it a lot (because I'm normally Ironside, and even then aircraft aren't a viable choice for him, unless absolutely necessary -- Black Widows can be quite useful, though), but the update also looks good.

Very nice enhancements, Hunter. Surely the same logic could be applied to any enhancement of the aircraft? As the raptor is an aircraft, it's usually going to be moving too fast for you to care about the mirrored text anyway. I'm sure if you never saw the render you wouldn't notice it at all ingame. -------------------- |

Nice work on the raptor, i always found EAs one boring. The advanced nuke cannon is pretty cool also.

I'd like to ask about the nuke cannon (as you may know from FS forum, my favourite unit in shw).
What does it means in term of gameplay more accurate? The nuke cannon has never been accurate for its AoE, i fail to understand. the added weight does also mean that will deploy in less time? Or does it mean that will stop to deploy and undeploy in guard mode? Impressive update anyway. Thank you for giving us so much sweetness This post has been edited by katmoda12: 7 Jun 2009, 13:19 |

This will give a whole new fearsome dimension to Tao's nuke cannon spam in the hard challenge, really
I like the raptor too, nice and sleek, looks like an improvement on every scale. -------------------- |
