Looks entirely fictional.

Patlabor Movie. 2 I think. I don't claim to be an expert on Helicopters, but exactly what's wrong with this one? |

I don't claim to be an expert on Helicopters, but exactly what's wrong with this one? The weight to power ratio seems like it wouldn't work. With those huge bulky wings and tiny rotors. Most choppers do no extend beyond the length of the blades. (Excluding the back end) -------------------- |

... Patlabor Movie. 2 I think. One thing I can be sure about is that it's Shoji Kawamori's work. Edit: Apparently it's not. I'm shocked. -------------------- |

That little red circle/dot/symbol/whatever near the wings looks like the U.N. Spacy's logo...

Sadly, much like the 'manchee, it has no place in RL and will never be made (well, it'll never make it beyond the prototype stage, but since it's entirely fictional to begin with, I digress) This post has been edited by NergiZed: 2 Aug 2009, 12:39 -------------------- |

ah i see so it basicly used the turbine exhaust on the tail as alternative to the tail rotor.

Someone then needs to update his wikipedia article and add Patlabor. It does make sense though. I always thought the mechs from Patlabor were too damn similar to the VF-1S Valkyrie or just Valkyries in general.

VS I wonder where you see the similarities expect for the fact both the models follow the basic humanoid mech designs. Apart from that, only the white skin is kinda the same IMO. |

It has his work all over the place. Any Macross fan that watched the first or second episode of Patlabor probably asked himself what the hell a Valkyrie was doing there. These mecha are also very similar to the Armored Core ones because they are from the same designer. The thing is that Shoji Kawamori simply defined "basic humanoid mech designs". He's that important and influential, understand?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shouji_Kawamori Look at all the projects he has created or contributed to. People don't call him 'the god of mechs' for nothing. Note that Patlabor is missing from the list. -------------------- |

For your interest, I have no idea who that guy is, and neither what Macross is, but if you give me a link where to watch it in japanese with english/german subs, I will gladly do it.

Another soon to be convert. Wonderful.
There are many places to stream and download it from. Here's a good site with decent fansubs but you can only download one episode per day: http://anime.thehylia.com/downloads/series/macross-zero (watch this one first if you want something more theatrical and realistic) http://a.scarywater.net/lunar/ (Get the batch Macross Frontier torrents first if you want more of an all around package) -------------------- |

Of course. I wouldn't give you raws or bad subs of Macross.
Broken? You need to right click and choose "Save As" for the first one and for the second you need a torrent client to download the files from there. -------------------- |
