Good Morning Solider! Hurry up and take a seat, the briefing is about to begin! Now, as you might be aware, we got ourselves in a seriously bad situation over the last few months. But there's no time like the present to get out of this hole and stick it to the Russians. *lighting dims and projector turns on* The image I am showing you here is an accurate account of the Russian advance through Europe. You don't need me to tell you, that it is not looking good. From what we can determine, the Federation aims to take out three main players in the ECA; Germany, France and Great Britain. Sadly, General Wolfgang could not hold the Russians in Germany and they have taken most of the country. There are a few small groups of militants in hiding, but they are only good for providing intel now. With the loss of Germany comes a great blow to our armour divisions. The Federation are taking advantage of the facilities in Dresden and Berlin which means they are churning out tanks 3 times as fast as before. This is indeed worrying for us. The section of General Wolfgang's forces which made it across the border have joined forces with General Wilhelm, who also lost his native territory in Holland. Together with assistance from General Charles we have fortified the French border. It will be a tough fight to hold them back, the Russians are attacking from 2 or 3 different angles. So far our impressive artillery pieces have kept the first waves at bay. It is your mission to survive the Russian advance and begin to push them back into Germany. We must reclaim Europe! Get to work! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey folks, hope you like the update. We are almost ready to launch the Roleplay! This thread is a little teaser for you. We hope it gives you a basic grasp of what to expect from the ROTR:RP. If this is the first you have heard of the roleplay and are interested in taking part. Please visit Recruitment Station N34 and let us know! Once we've got a few more people interested, we'll be ready to rock. There will then be a recruitment phase where you can check out our rules and apply to join the ranks. We've even got you some special userbars Thanks for reading and hope to see you in the RP soon! P.S. If a Moderator reads this and approves, could we have this moved to The Loudspeaker, as it as a community announcement. Switzerland should be neutral, like half the Balkans. Switzerland has been CONQUERED, the Russians are not interested if it is neutral or not. The Balkan region on the other hand is neutral/ECA because it is atm not of much tactical value for Russia. Just a random question... do we know what contrys are in the ECA apart from France. Germany. Denmark and the UK? All former NATO states, so also Spain, Portugal and the northern european countries are in the ECA, also the Benelux states. If you knew anything about Swiss history and their neutrality, you'd know that the main reason that Nazi Germany didn't attack Switzerland was because the cost of it would be ludicrous, the Swiss people would just retreat to the Alps into the reduit and "turtle it out".This isn't to mention the entire fact that Switzerland isn't a threat to either the ECA or to the Russians, nor is it of "tactical value". It would be a showcase of Russia's stupidity if they attacked Switzerland. This post has been edited by Alias: 27 Aug 2009, 13:10 -------------------- |

It would be a showcase of Russia's stupidity if they attacked Switzerland. Whatever way one puts this, the Russians need all ground they can get to attack France from. Think about it, if Russia can get Switzerland, they have an optimal platform for strikes with airpower. Also this is ROTR, so realism is second-important. However you are right about the fact that Switzerland was/is a very hard nut to crack, but the Russians succeded in the end. |

Attacking the Swiss is like the dumbest thing you could do... ever. Every country in the world would declare war on you. It's the equivalent of robbing the world's bank. Seriously, just no.
The Irish Republic would be neutral during a world war, as well. Think back to WWI and WWII - they were neutral then. I can state for a fact that they wouldn't open themselves to attack when they have absolutely no response in the way of military power. Pretty nice work on the map itself, though. -------------------- |

With regards to this I quote the standing storyline. QUOTE (Rise of the Reds Story) When the EU requested a Chinese withdrawal a new union was formed, sparking the rest of the world into forming several hasty alliances. Some academics drew parallels with the Triple Entente and The First World War, but were largely ignored. Finally rid of external influences, the EU grew rapidly until the Russian invasion. Ireland and Switzerland joined the EU after China's withdrawal. Perhaps one of the mentioned "hasty alliances"? And it isn't beyond possible that Ireland finally joined the rest of the UK, allowing them to have protection from the Crown. Even if the Swiss joined the ECA, that still provides no reason for Russia to attack them.

Even if the Swiss joined the ECA, that still provides no reason for Russia to attack them. We have re-worked the Lore to suit the number of players we have. Now Swiss are neutral -------------------- |

Yes, Switzerland is due to the support and critique changed into neutral (also mainly because of the number of actual players).
