Why are there .big and .gib files in RotR?

Why are there exclamation marks in some RotR file names?

Is there some kind of tutorial that explains how the files relate to each other?

Uniqueness is Overrated

.gib files are just what the launcher renames the mod's .big files to to deactivate them.

The exclamation points are there to make sure the mod big files have priority over the game's big files, because Sage prioritizes big files in alphanumerical order, which prioritize symbols over numbers and letters.

Two mysteries solved! Thanks!

I got RotR running via Parallels again and I'm still figuring out how to get it running on Mac natively. Someone in the forums was able to do it, but it was supposedly buggy. I still don't fully understand how all the files interact.

Too bad s/he didn't include screencaps of which files go where.
