I've always seen the ECA as the most advanced faction tech wise (what with infinite power from their power plants, solar beam strikes, nanomachines, railguns and microwave death rays as AA) and I kind of feel like that for their more advanced units, they should wear more body armor. This is the same faction that can build experimental power armor suits, so it does fit.
The armor I see them wearing would be something more along the lines of the GDI soldiers in Tiberian Sun. Probably give them to the Pioneer and Grenadier. |

Hmm. I actually differ on that perspective. The ECA are also battered and under great duress from their enemies in ROTR. America always felt more like the Future Warfare faction. Dont get me wrong I looove me some ECA, and they certainly dont look outdated in this by any means, but... Well, I could use some other voices on this. I want to satisfy as many as I can with the ECA!

@Winter Gear: Hmm. Im always hesitant to sign off on winter specific stuff. I'll definately think about it. The idea itself is cute though :3 The overcoat would be easy, the Ushanka, not so much. @Riot Armor: Interesting. Im not sure how I feel about that. One option I had considered was a kind of cobbled together armor from a bunch of different sources. Hmm. I wonder what others think about this? I think you can just copy the Volunteer officer's hat and color it white. Some other brainstorm ideas: Tracksuit and/or bike helmet for Hijacker (maybe blue with white stripes, wink)? Robe or overcoat for Terrorist, since they now mostly travel on foot and can be stealthed. Saucepan helmets for Angry Mob members and Worker? -------------------- And then...

From a story perspective, the ECA are actually meant to look less futuristic than the US. The US have high-tech and elite training as their core themes, which permeate their lineup from basic grunts up to their air force and also unlike the ECA, they are capable of ensuring this high standard for their entire military. The ECA on the other hand is a lot more conventional and, in some ways, even regressive in its themes (anti-personnel mines, indiscriminate cluster munitions and a whole lot of ugly shrapnel weaponry) and their high-tech units, the protocol ones, -only- exist due to the circumstances of the Russo-European war: ECA high command has decided to invest in flashy experimental weaponry in an effort to counter their numerical disadvantage and demoralise the Russians through a technological show of force. If it wasn't for the war on Europe's home soil, the Venom would be harmless a HEV suit, the jumpjet a commercial gimmick in limited military use by airborne specialists, the Pandora would be used to fire civilian satellites and supplies into space, their neutron bombs and nerve gas would not exist, Fenris lasers would be used for scientific purposes and the Manticore would be a technology demonstrator for an arms expo. Take away these weapons and it becomes clear that the ECA is a lot more conventional in its approach, whereas the US have all sorts of lasers, unmanned weapons with rudimentary AI, fancy guided munitions, etc.
That said, I find this a remarkable effort on your part. These skins look really nice (just a little more house colour would be great) and I would like to see more of them. Perhaps even go further and have alternate skins for the factions, based on different environments or themes where people could pick one, for example, the aforementioned 'urban' camo alongside a woodland or tan themed one for the Chinese, or even some mixed camo styles for the ECA to invoke the appearance of different national militaries as a combined force? Personally, I would have preferred to see the VDV with their iconic blue berets too, which may not be realistic, but it makes them easier to identify at a quick glance. Just a random idea. Either way, this is a splendid effort |

Yes, I definitely have to commend your efforts as well. I am hoping you consider making a digital camo variant with tan vests for the United States, though your desert camo looks kinda nice too.
I am definitely going to be downloading for at least the Chinese and Americans- but I may very well try them all out. Will have to see. -------------------- |

If you do the riot armor make it subtle. have it covered by the sort of robes they wear now. I think that will look more authentic to the glas theme. and overcoats sound great. Do a cute on on lotus for the snow map :3 -------------------- Many thanks to IvanMRM for my avatar and Star for drawing my epic signature. You guys rock! Personally, I would have preferred to see the VDV with their iconic blue berets too, which may not be realistic, but it makes them easier to identify at a quick glance. Just a random idea. Either way, this is a splendid effort Wonderful feedback! @ECA Fluff: Well, you'z da boss! However I miiight be able to do an optional set for them later, for the grand release. 2nd paragraph: House color: Is always the last thing I do. Care to point out units that need it the most? HC is such a fine thing. It either is too subtle and impossible to notice, or hopelessly garish and eye rending. For gameplay reasons its of course best to have the super garish stuff on infantry, so you can see them. (The_Hunter already explained this much to me ^__^ ) However, there are creative ways to go about it. One thing many people dont realize is that you can subdue the brightness of housecolour through manipulation of alpha channels (on infantry) to be lighter. In theory, you can use this with say, splinter camo, to make units have camouflages based on your team color. In practice this is terrible though because someone ends up with pink and gets laughed at for the rest of the game as his barbie-doll soldiers strut around. Alternate Skins: Will for sure happen, but exactly how and to what extent remains to be seen. I have already confirmed that I will include options to make US Rangers/Missile Defenders African-American if one so chooses, and I feel confident that I will be able to include an ACU option for US infantry as well. In addition, A possible plan for the US could involve as many as three theater specific camos (im currently tinkering with desert stuff :3) however the first release could only include desert gear. Dont worry, the desert gear looks fantastic. For other factions though... hmm. Russia could see some work done, possibly a snow camo set. China likely wont get anything theater specific, at least for right now, but COULD get some optional choices for the Red Guard and Tank Hunter, which might make them look better in certain environments. (Hint: 90s era PLA Woodland ala battlefield 2). GLA is barely even on the drawing board; feel free to suggest whatever you want for them. National ECA camos: Thought about it, even attempted a test with a germanic Panzerfaust, ultimately didnt like it. I might do it as an optional release; the way I see it although equipment is nationalized its users are not, and I worry that the ECA might start looking less like a faction if I take them away from the blue/light blue/gray aesthetic they rock. VDV: ... My lips are sealed There maaay be optional camos for them. Maybe -------------------- |

From a story perspective, the ECA are actually meant to look less futuristic than the US. I was about to point that out too. They are throwing in every piece of technology, but not in their best shape. Though... QUOTE Manticore would be a technology demonstrator for an arms expo. Or starring over the top action movies. Can the infantry skins be different based on the terrain (snow camouflages for arctic maps, desert camouflages for desert maps)? If it can, then it would be realistic.

Can the infantry skins be different based on the terrain (snow camouflages for arctic maps, desert camouflages for desert maps)? If it can, then it would be realistic. Optimistic answer: Yes, if I triple my workload Really its a matter of time and patience. And in the end, you would need to manually replace the entire factions textures for each map you play on. You can see why environment based textures will be added only later, if at all. It is theoretically possible, in code, to have a winter set of models for both infantry and vehicles I believe. However, that requires .ini modding which I am not at all the best at and is out of the scope of this mod. You can ask the ROTR development team for this feature, but i think they're a little busy at the moment. So realistic answer: Yes, it would be more realistic. Maybe I'll get around to doing them later for the grand release AFTER all the factions get their own release treatment. -------------------- |

Did you guys even notice the Battle-master Battlepack I just released? Or do your eyes glaze over at the sight of these Red Chinese Commie Clown-Cars?! Hate that commie tank eh? Fuck's sake, we're on the third page right now! Third page! It's good. I like the division between lines, camo and house colors. Neither sticker-y nor too sharp. However, What do you think about the uneven wheel numbers on them? If we go with the current in-lore designation of Type 88G, then they would all need 6 wheels. Personally, I got a half-formed piece of personal new lore that they are "retro" tanks, maybe a renewal of the WZ 122-3, equipped with new hydro suspension systems to combat GLA's sneaky tactics in complex terrain. About skins: SAGE only allows 4 types of skin: Day, Night, Snow Day and Snow Night. This post has been edited by teslashark: 12 Apr 2015, 10:43 -------------------- And then...

They're in the china preview image If you dont like the current red guard, dont worry too much. There will be an option to replace them with woodland themed ones. Same as Tank Hunters- they were wearing a sort of darker green uniform, similar to how the volunteers had it. This post has been edited by ComradeCrimson: 12 Apr 2015, 13:00 -------------------- |

This kind you posted might be common in US military yes, but the visor and the head of those caps used in european countries don't look like the ones of basecaps at all I think. And that's the point of my plea. The caps of the felins look totally like baseball caps.
