Fantastic updates, and finally an epic italian unit (!!) that i hope won't say "Buongiorno Comandante!"...
I don't think that Venom suits by themself will be OP, not at all. They are infantry on steroids but just infantry. Half of the presumable cost of a Venom spent in conscripts is enough to destroy a Viking if left alone, and one comanche is enough to put at bay a Valkirie alone on the front. Then you will have to wait two minutes or so to re-deploy them, At least, what really could make the protocol OP is: The Protocol equips Felins, Panzerfausts and Medics with exoskeletons. Panzerfaust with more health and as speedy as a dog? PanzerDogs with AT missiles? Garrison a building, smash tanks, when the building is destroyed or a Anti garrison unit close by run (RUN) for your life in another building.... That's could be unfair. ... Some questions: 1 The exoskelon-equipped infantry became uncrushable? 2 The exoskeleton has a cost for every infantry or it functions just like a global upgrade? 3 From the video cannot be very well understandable... Venom Valkirie can fire during the flight? 4 Venom Viking on the flight can just fire starstreak missiles, or they can be fired also on the ground? 5 JumpJet infantry is always in the air or can touch ground? 6 Venom suits are immune to T2 AA just like JJ? Thanks Keep up the good work, no more than today you can say that, in this mod, good things happen to who waits. |

Will the ECA commando team also benefit from the Venom protocol?
EDIT: oh how rude of me to ask a question without giving compliments. Great models and the combat armor animation is very well made This post has been edited by Neutrino: 21 Jan 2014, 12:27 -------------------- "How about we sing "Kyle's Mom is a Stupid Bitch" in D minor..." |

Venom is a really great addition to the game - a powerful unit with several functions that require micromanagement - and I loved all the changes made.
I can imagine the immense work that must have taken to create all animations for the Venom, but the final work really was very satisfactory. Now I have a doubt - I probably missed something - you can produce a Valkirie and a Viking at the same time? I can not wait to see the new units intended for the other protocols. -------------------- You already imagined how would be SAP in the ROTR's universe? Looking great! Much as I love the Pandora protocol, this looks like it will provide some great mobility for the ECA. I get the feeling that I may not be able to live without it...
As asked by others above, what benefits do the infantry exoskeletons give exactly? Increased speed and HP? ...any chance of cyberdogs? This post has been edited by Lobo Solitario: 21 Jan 2014, 12:54 |

1 The exoskelon-equipped infantry became uncrushable? 2 The exoskeleton has a cost for every infantry or it functions just like a global upgrade? 3 From the video cannot be very well understandable... Venom Valkirie can fire during the flight? 4 Venom Viking on the flight can just fire starstreak missiles, or they can be fired also on the ground? 5 JumpJet infantry is always in the air or can touch ground? 6 Venom suits are immune to T2 AA just like JJ? 1. Nope this is something i would have liked to do but technical limitations prevent us from doing so. However this is hardly a problem since most infantry can run faster than the averige tank after this upgrade 2.Once you purchased the venom protocol all infantry get the Exo Skeletons (only exception beeing Commandos and Frank Jaeger) 3.The Valkyrie can indeed fire its weapons from the air but with a penelty to its rate of fire. Only the anti tank missiles can be fired without penelty while airborne 4.Yes the Viking can fire its missiles from both air and ground positions. 5. Jumpjets can indeed land near the end of the video you can see several of them landed on the ground in the defence line. 6. Nope Venom suits can be targeted normaly while airborne. And to all those who ask yes you can field both the Viking and Valkyrie at the same time. -------------------- |

I have few questions too,
we all knew that Venom would be maned by French girl... But now we have two Venoms, will be other maned also by girl or by guy,and will he/she speak with Polish accent ? Also,JJ infantry can land, but how that would work,I mean do he have to switch between walking and flying modes and can he fight while on ground, also can he enter a Pandur ? |

Fantastic update, both the Viking and Venom look great and the new units sound very useful and fun to play with. I'm interested in the regular video updates too.

Also,JJ infantry can land, but how that would work,I mean do he have to switch between walking and flying modes and can he fight while on ground, also can he enter a Pandur ? Basically, the Valkyrie Venoms are operated by French women and the Viking Venom are operated by Polish guys. Naturally, the actual teams would not be gender/nationality restricted, but we went for these two characters for the Venoms you have in-game. The JJ can switch between walking and flying and yes, he can attack in both modes as well, but since he's a lot faster in the air, you would want to use them as airborne raiders and only switch to walking mode to avoid the medium anti-air units. And no, from what I remember, they cannot entire structures or vehicles, which seems reasonable with that giant jumpjet pack on their backs. |

Additional question, am I right that in the last stand sequence of the Venom film clip there are deployed Combat Pioneers that are firing their mortars and not Mortar Pits?

Here's One Question Since All Three Protocols Evolved From ESA Space Programs. Do You Think Their was a Prototype Space Shuttle That Was Converted into a Orbital Gunship?.
That Could Launches into Space then Back to Earth Hitting a Target Zone like The Spectre Gunship?. and Possibly Enhanced ECA Air Force. Satellites. and Support Powers?. It Should be the Revised Fourth Protocol?. This post has been edited by foxhoundx7: 21 Jan 2014, 16:16 |

Thanks for the awesome update, team! I am super excited by the choices offered by the venom and how it looks; super professional. It will be interesting to see if the ECA is better able to raid with jump infantry, given that the first units built by a lot of factions are T0 AA and you'd only get JJs late game. Really want to see how this plays out in actual gameplay. Great job, you all!
I am also really interested in the concept of protocol = super unit + spam-able new unit. That would be a good topic for future speculation! What units will the Manti and Pandi give? And on the speculation note, here is a historical reference for all you speculators out there: a link to our guesses as to what Venom was/was about back in March 2013: http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=4545 (Pony riding infantry, you had such potential; Anubis - my deepest sympathies go out to you in your time of heartbreaking disappointment). Additional question, am I right that in the last stand sequence of the Venom film clip there are deployed Combat Pioneers that are firing their mortars and not Mortar Pits? That is certainly what it looks like to me... This post has been edited by piratep2r: 21 Jan 2014, 16:22 |

Additional question, am I right that in the last stand sequence of the Venom film clip there are deployed Combat Pioneers that are firing their mortars and not Mortar Pits? Those are indeed Combat Pioneers in their deployed state. Neutron Mortar rounds! Neutron Mortar rounds! Neutron Mortar rounds! Not gonna happen. Not only would that be too obvious and overpowered (mortar units can be spammed), but also unfitting. Who the hell would volunteer to fire nuclear shells with a man-portable 81mm infantry mortar? At least the Chinese revived a 'long' range recoilless rifle from the 50s with their Nukeneers and their commanders are firmly established as not really giving a fuck about safety, but the ECA wouldn't arm their infantry with weapons that would most likely get them killed. It's not like Europe has a sizeable population to sink into such boneheaded attrition tactics. There won't be a fourth protocol. Three is generally a golden number in game design, a good compromise between variety of options and straightforwardness. Any possible fourth protocol would be redundant and render the entire 'secret prototype' feature absurd, since you'd start to wonder just how many 'secret' prototypes there are. |

Pure Awesomeness!
Dat combat armor. I really enjoyed the video, The Venom looks really fantastic, looking forward to play with them. Do you create a thread for the upcoming Q&A video to collect questions or are you already collecting from different sources like the forum and moddb ? -------------------- |

you would want to use them as airborne raiders and only switch to walking mode to avoid the medium anti-air units. were medium anti-air units rebalanced to be anti-air only like heavy anti air or some other balance? i mean, if they are still able to shoot at the ground (with the exception of the avenger as far as i know) the tactical use of this tactic seems pretty low -------------------- |

While Medium AA can still attack the ground, JJs probably more than make up for it with HP. They have the Exos after all.
