"No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise."

The Resistance of Schwarzburg

Lt. Klaus and his small group of soldiers looking for the black curtain of smoke rising on the horizon, the war was coming to a small Schwarzburg ... waiting the enemy is not an easy task and every hour that passed the anguish grew, Klaus tried not to show his fear and once again had to rely on his brave men, it was time to encourage his troops then began speech :

"Attention! Hear all! ... Today we are face to face with the enemy, they do not take prisoners, not preserve lives, if we fail here first this village falls, other cities will soon fall, they will move quickly destroying everything whatever is in your way, nothing remained of Germany we know today ... think about it when they shoot these cowards, and make the walls of Schwarzburg the beginning of hell! "

The troop responds immediately: - "WE ALL TOGETHER TO HELL WITH THESE BASTARDS!" The moment of euphoria is interrupted by the alert on the radio: "THE BEARS ARE COMING!" - Immediately Klaus asks the radio: "Delta, what you saw!?" Delta responds: - "4 BMP at high speed, 3 kodiak, and a huge tank with a giant cannon coming behind, light infantry and heavy, should be approximately 200 men!" Klaus quickly processes the information and orders Delta to return to the position immediately.

- "Ok, everyone in their positions! Take the Panzerfausts because bears do not come to play!" - Exclaimed the lieutenant - the agitation lasts a few long minutes until when the first BMP is the last bend in the road ... suddenly rises a wall of smoke through the trees in this dense gray cloud produced by an assault grenades hidden usually fatal , however Klaus already knew that ... he said aloud: - "1,2,3,4 ... NOW OPEN FIRE!" The machine-gun fire across the wall of smoke and many cries of pain were heard, the Russians retaliated with its heavy artillery causing cede the ancient walls, the smoke soon dissipated and it was possible to see the face of the enemy, a BMP progressed quickly up a machine gun nest, the unsuspecting soldiers hoping for a tragic end when the vehicle was hit by a Panzerfaust. The enemy infantry continued to move forward despite being massacred by machine guns, the Kodiaks not stopped shooting and had already victimized many soldiers, Klaus knew that it was necessary to destroy enemy tanks somehow, so he selected some experienced men and said: - "If we stay behind these walls we succumb to the firepower of these damn dogs, let's send them to hell!"

Having said these words left the walls and began to run in an open field filled with obstacles. The lieutenant jumped into a large crater and shouted - "I'll cover!" His men ran across the battlefield in the crossfire, a blast triggered by a BMP killed two of his soldiers, enraged changed its target for the vehicle, he knew that a direct hit with his DSR 50 could put an end to your target, took aim at the middle of the tower just below the canyon and pulled the trigger, it was possible to hear the impact of hitting the shield, he thought - "that will be penetrated?" After a few seconds a black smoke started to come out on top of the tower, started a fire that resulted in a huge explosion, there was no time to celebrate the success, now the enemy soldiers were his targets one by one were being decimated for now the rest of his soldiers were preparing to attack a Kodiak, one of the rockets fired pieces made in the dreaded tank, FELINs soldiers were well trained they made a difference in fighting against russian infantry close and turned the other two tanks into scrap now remained only two BMPs to be neutralized and a few conscripts to victory over the invaders. Klaus thought - "These will be the heroes of the resistance of Schwarzburg ..."

When the conflict seemed favorable for the germans something unexpected happens, a real rain of rockets falling on their infantry causing numerous casualties, he looks to distance the suffering of his men to drag themselves agonizing mutilated by the devastating attack, so he almost did not believe in ve just after it - "that damned tank is this? not possible!" The apocalyptic Sentinel moved quickly to the direction of the fortress, Klaus with his rifle took aim between the tower and the chassis and fired three times, noted that the shots had hit put the monstrous tank continued its progress, the commander then dropped the rifle and get up to go in the direction of the wounded when the giant suddenly stopped, its tower was moved and aligned with the official ...

Klaus was deaf after the impact, his vision was blurred, and his body went numb after being thrown five meters, he felt that his battle was over, Schwarzburg looked for the last time, everything was in flames, the devil that hit him remained undefeated heading for the city and a platoon would soon behind, Lt. died before seeing the fall of the village, his men fought bravely to the end, put some surrendered were all executed...

Finally in the evening the Russian flag was hoisted in the highest tower of Schwarzburg. 8Isov.gif

As you acknowledged yourself, some parts are a bit hard to understand but as a whole, the story remains comprehensible.

Two minor annotations:
- In German, Klaus is generally a given name, not a surname. This isn't much of a problem throughout most of the story, but 'Lieutenant Klaus' reads a bit odd.
- Despite the WW2 parallelisms, the regular Russian Army in ROTR is expected to spare the lives of wounded or surrendered enemies and accept them as POWs. There may of course be isolated incidents where troops consciously ignore that policy - as would there be on the ECA side - but this is in no way approved by the Russian leadership. Now, if you're explicitely dealing with Shock Troopers/elements of Aleksandr's AWRD Corps, their common modus operandi may very well -be- different.

-Klaus used the name because it is common, maybe this is not his real name of war.

-I imagine russia in ROTR is really not so bloodthirsty, so it is described in the story just to give a bit of drama to the narrative.

*A story written in my language before translating gotten better for sure, many things are difficult to translate, I'll try to improve my skills with the English.

Aleksandr had that oddball name ever since the beginning of this project (SWR, let alone I, wasn't even involved yet) and whether it's usage is false in this context or not, we cannot change it at this point because it has become iconic and recognisable over the years.

Nice war story. You describe battle scenes really well. Maybe you better also focus a bit more on the mental state and emotional side of the characters too. After all reading a elaborate battle scene is fun but that's more suited for TV or comics. While writing we could use some interesting thoughts from the characters. But you've done a great job at you were aiming to do.

If you like battle scenes, I'm sure you are going to enjoy a particular three-part series of ECA updates that I've prepared a few days ago. You'll be seeing them by the time 1.72 is out and we proceed to post ECA content.

Good that you liked, I really like the scenarios describe the battles and the state pisicologico the characters for me are the thoughts that give them life, glory and emotion to the story.

I'll look forward to this update, it'll be great to see his narrative of the war in Europe because I appreciate the way you describe things and the way that leads to own history, definitely a talented writer.

That sounds fun. Hopefully we'll get to see some interesting moments and dream face offs in these battles. Like Orlov finally meeting Wolfgang face to face, but on opposite sides on the battlefield.
