SWR Productions Forum _ ShockWave _ Gen. Ironside & Deathstrike's pictures

Posted by: hitmanultra 20 Aug 2009, 3:46

As of now Ironside looks like an old general ready for retirement and Deathstrike looks like an average GLA fighters. General Ironside is supposed to be this bad-ass take no prisioner US general while Deathstrike an ingenious mastermind. I just feel the current two pictures used do no fit their personality.

Can we change to what the Deezire pro-gen project used like in the image below? (barring the Chinese guy)

I would sum up the response in a word; No.

I am not officially allowed to answer, but I can't see the dev team changing this. Not least to copy off another mod.

I too am not a fan of Ironside's image, or his entire faction for that matter. But it's a part of Shockwave tradition.

Tbh I like the shadowy deezire image for Ironside better myself but this has been asked before and it's not going to change.

i personally like the top left the best but its not going to happen

IMO, the GLA guy only looks like like a latin american dictator (OK, minus some choice of uniform coloring) not an devious GLA general.

Yeah, Westmoreland nice guy face looks like he could not plant his boot on your butt. 8Ip.png

Isnt Shockwave Ironside based in a real person?

Yeah, as Kid said, based off William Westmoreland, who to be quite honest looks way more badarse than what is suggested here. The Generals beta airforce general, which is the one that is displayed, to me looks like a complete tryhard, whereas "Westie" actually looks like a very humble man.

When i look at my Generals Deluxe box the person on the right looks a lot like Deathstrike and the person on the left could be linked to that picture of the chinese general

The bottom centre guy is the cameo for the GLA limo in one of their missions.

That's why there is no high-resolution picture of him. I do like the US-General in this picture but he doesn't really fit imho. He looks more like a Airforce or Hightech general to me. And you can only see half of his face, so he wouldn't fit with the other generals.

Westmoreland was EA's US Tank General in the early version of Generals. He was also featured on the Generals E3 poster. In ShockWave we pay homage to him as a great leader, and his image will remain in the game.

There's nothing to stop you from editing the .tga files and changing the image yourself if it bothers you that much. It will not cause your version to be incompatible with others.

The General depicted as Ironside in ProGen was the Special Forces General. wink.gif

I always though he WAS the Beta Airforce General. The more you learn~

The Air Force General was the guy holding the binoculars.

Would the image shown there be similar to the way General selection will work in ROTR?

I know that's old old generals, but it looks like how I'd imagine the ROTR General Select.

Well kind of, you click your Command Center in 2.0 and select your wished General, your Dozer goes online and the fun starts.

I believe they changed it with the Special Forces General, given that the Special Forces General is wearing an USAF officer's uniform.

Like the others said already, our general portraits are here to stay. That US-dude looks like an uptight pencil-pusher, not a tough but fair, honest-to-goodness leader-type like 'our' Ironside. This isn't some uncaring officer who doesn't give a shit about the lives of his men because he's feeling comfortable underneath the shadow of his cap; Ironside is the kind of general who leads his squaddies into battle with his own tank, Patton-style.

As for Deathstrike, no, just no. That fat guy from the first ZH GLA mission looks like some bloated wanna-be dictator who declared himself a general because he felt like it. He doesn't have that certain 'warrior' feel to himself. If anything, he looks like the imaginary day-dream of an overweight, bummed out office clerk in the late 40s with zero friends and a small, filthy house who'd like to become the glorious leader of a feared gang of terrorists some day.

The 'warrior' feel mindfuck.gif Although I understand this fully, seeing that the Special Forces General really looks like some kind of badass who has already parked ICBM beacons in your base and does not care about anything but victory, and the same goes for the GLA General, as he really SHOULD look like "I don't care about that sh!t, this is war not some child playground".

Posted by: Pickysaurus 21 Aug 2009, 20:39

I always thought that GLA guy looked Chinese anyways - especially as he was red on the radar in missions.

Posted by: Sharpnessism 21 Aug 2009, 20:58

tbh i dont like the picture of the GLA guy at all, he doesnt look anything like the other lean GLA generals :/

im not crazy over the current USArmor general picture but the suggested replacement is worse IMO, he just doesn't fit with his hidden face

If you look at that picture Stinger posted, then you see that all the USA (well, NATO) Generals have their faces hidden behind something, Bradley and Ironside under the shadows of their caps and Griffon's face is hidden behind his binoculars.

Posted by: D' WRTHBRNGR 24 Aug 2009, 11:45

Ironside's voices sounded like a wrestler and the Reborn image isn't macho enough to suit him.

Posted by: rocksilver 15 Sep 2009, 18:33

I actually like Ironside's picture. Its a nice welcoming change than the seriousness of USA's Generals. It could also be that Alexander's, Granger's and Townes' expressions are in awe of General Ironside's relaxed posture at his reaction to war.

His Shockwave picture btw, not that shadowy one, I actually thought that the shadowy one was you for some reason.
