In preparation for 1.85, this thread shall be archived. SWRNet phases out nearly all of the networks for ROTR, and eventually perhaps Shockwave. You can see more information in the update announcing SWRNet:
http://forums.swr-productions.com/index.php?showtopic=6848 OLD THREAD: CODE You might find that the AI in ROTR becomes a tad too predictable. Don't worry Comrade, there is another option! We have a significant number of people playing Shockwave and Rise of the Reds on VPN networks. They range in skill level (from just downloaded this game to full on pro) and in strategies (from turtler to full on rusher to steamroller). You will find that humans are more fun then AI to play with. We can't cheat you know!
Here at SWR, we use the Hamachi VPN to play multiplayer matches. You can download it here. Use the Unmanaged version. Current Open Channels Network: Comodo Network Name: RiseOfTheRedsOfficial Password: ROTR Managed by: Evan Games Played: ROTR Network: Hamachi Network Name: C&C Generals ZH Mods Password: None Managed by: .::Fe@R::. Type: Premium Games Played: Any ZH Mod Archived/Closed/Old Channels Network: Hamachi Network Name: Handschar Password: None Managed by: NoNama Type: Premium (256 slots) Games played: Shockwave 1.1, Rise of the Reds 1.8 Map Packs: You will need the ROTR 1.72 Map Pack to play with most of us. Special Info: Full, moved here due to inability to clean. Setting up C&C Generals: Zero Hour for Hamachi Setting up C&C Generals: Zero Hour for VPN play is very easy. Once you get it, you won't be mistaken again. First off, you will need to get Hamachi. Download it with the link above. After that, you will need to identify your IP Address, which is located above your username. As of the time of this writing, the IP address should start with a 25. Now then, go into ROTR. After you reach the menu screen, hit the options button. In the bottom, there should be a field for a LAN address. Set this to the address located within hamachi. Don't set the Internet IP, otherwise you will screw things up when you want to play ZH online. Now, when you setup a game, go into the LAN lobby, and start a game. It's that simple! If you need help setting up Zero Hour for Hamachi, you can contact us there. We would be glad to help. Good luck, and happy ROTRing, Comrade! Changelog: 10/10/12: From now on, I will be keeping a running changelog of what I do to this thread. Expect this changelog to fill up as I overhaul this thread. 10/10/12: Changed the Intro a little bit, and made this changelog smaller. 10/10/12: Edited Formatting a little bit, and also adding space for a future tutorial I am preparing. 08/12/12: Added link to hotfix and modified version number. 24/12/12: Added Tutorial to prepare for ROTR 1.8 25/12/12: Updated version number 10/02/15: Phased thread out This post has been edited by Generalcamo: 11 Feb 2015, 3:01 |

It would be nice to see some RotR players in the network. So far, it's mostly Shockwave....

ROTR activity in the network is picking up! Let's try and fill the network to the max! Completely ignoring the fact the network is specifically for Shockwave...

Hey, the network owner had no idea ROTR was going to be released before he came back. His internet is down, or so I am told, but he said the network could be used for ROTR.

He needs to get Hamachi as well, make sure you don't use the same serial code obviously, have him join the network you create on hamachi and then simply go to the LAN lobby =)
If he appears there, it means it worked and you can go ahead and proceed to play ROTR online! -------------------- SWR Co-Lead | Texture Artist | Modeler | Level Designer | Fan of all things Awesome |

What's with the term 'Handschar' here by the way? I do have an idea what it -could- be refering to, but I don't want to go out and say it before someone gives me an official answer.

I have no idea. The only person that might know is NoNama, and due to an internet problem is unavailable.

It's basically a spelling variant of Khanjar, which is a traditional Arabian dagger. Problem is, that particular spelling variant is the German one, which was also used as the official nickname of a Nazi SS division from Croatia which struck me as irritating.

We have tried to get a better VPN in the past. Every single one of them ended in disaster though.

We've tried about every solution under the sun, Hamachi has always been the easiest to use, not to mention with NoNama's 256 slot network there's no reason to use anything else.
