In all the ra2/yr mods i've seen, only 2 have managed to make fixed wing aircraft capable o engaging each other:

1)apocalypse
2)a general's game

Which suggests that a2a is possible in ra2 but requires something- all my attempts to create a aircraft launched aa weapon failed.

How can i make this happen?

it's been over a decade since i modded that game but i beleive its not possible without using an extension or game hack like.

Yes, you need to have Ares for it to work, however after you have Ares, you don't need any special tag besides the ones you'd use - AA=yes on the projectile, adequate LandTargetings etc.

NPatch also supported this but at NPatch, you also needed the AACombat=yes tag besides the standard setup on the aircraft to get it working.

Also, I'm quite certain you've seen MO 3.0 - hell, everyone seen MO3 by now - so even your list is wrong, because the MO3 Epsilon AA unit is just an AA jet carrier.
