SWR Productions Forum _ Frontline News _ Rise of the Reds Development Update

Posted by: The_Hunter 11 Apr 2015, 19:53

Hello everyone,

It has been a bit more than a week now since the release and we've been reading into the feedback and comments you have been providing us since then. Based upon this feedback we are actively working on a new update for ROTR that should be in your hands before the end of this month. We're also working on making some tutorial videos for those who have trouble installing and playing the game although we can't say exactly when these will be finished but as soon as they are, you will be notified via your media of choice.

Some of the changes for this update are:

-Better connection experience with SWR.net
-IP addresses should no longer cause conflicts while connecting to SWR.net
-People will no longer get randomly banned from SWR.net
-Some balance and gameplay changes (details will become available with the patch)

Two things we can however tell and show you about these changes:

Shmel Troopers proved to be a bit too good in certain early game scenarios so they will receive a nerf to their base weapon. In turn, they will now also benefit from the "Advanced Infantry Munitions" upgrade which will give them a new launcher which will boost their attack power.

Warhounds, although not being particularly unbalanced or weak in any situation, had a rather low survivability in the later game. To maintain their utility, Warhounds now benefit from the "Armor Skirts" upgrade.

As always, we would like to remind all of you out there that there will be another official live stream this Sunday.
Keep in mind however that unlike before we will now be streaming in the evenings rather than the afternoon.

Will new voice-sets be included as well? There were a few (besides the one I was working on) that I thought were getting reworked or added (like for one of the Venom suits I think).

not in this patch its a simply maintenance patch to fix some in game errors and balance issues.

Posted by: InnocentMan 11 Apr 2015, 23:16

When approximately patch will be released the and is it possible to know the change in advance ?

Posted by: Mr.Kim 12 Apr 2015, 0:05

Ok, thanks, then i will wait. Just wanted to know about possible changes for some units.

The warhound uses its machinegun only when its mobile, not when its deployed. When its deployed it only uses the mortar, Is that intended or a bug?

Intended.
It's also much more fragile while not digged in, and can't be digged in while on the move. Also intended.

Posted by: teslashark 12 Apr 2015, 3:41

Another reason to love the Warhound!
By the way, anyone has a bigger, standalone picture of the Schock Trooper's bolter?

Posted by: TimeBurner 12 Apr 2015, 3:53

Can you also reduce the firing range of laser lock ability? it's kinda OP I think.

Posted by: TornadoADV 12 Apr 2015, 5:43

Personally, I think all ECA vehicles should benefit from side skirts, their survivability outside of the Manticore protocol is laughable. (Specifically the Leopard/Gepard)

ECA vehicles armor is not bad.

Although I agree that side skirt armor should affect Leopards too.

Posted by: Kommandant Karisse 12 Apr 2015, 14:02

I also support the idea of Armor Skirts for the Leopards, but I think the coloration on the Warhound's skirts should be adjusted slightly. The shade of blue on the skirts is a little darker than the shade on the Warhound itself.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what other changes this patch will bring. :3

Actually if that many units would get armor skirts the upgrade would have to be drastically increased in price and it would also completely overkill the NANO Shock obsorber upgrade to ridiculous levels so that's not really something i consider a good idea.

... that hadn't occurred to me. Ehehe, I guess that's why you're the one in charge ^^; Nevermind then. ><

Hmmm...The US already get's something like that. (Composite Armor, Hold the Line Plan and Battle Drone combo) Maybe decrease the heal rate of the nano field from the Manticore?

But these require a whole protocol being researched, thus it takes a lot of time to get them eventually. To balance them further they could cost money to install.

I gave you a reason why we won't, you can dissagree with it if you like but thats the reason why we won't and thats not going to change.

It's okay, my Paladins stay special that way. mindfuck.gif

Will the Veteran GP+Chem Suits Bug be fixed? Have you found the reason that caused this? sad.gif

Posted by: The_Hunter 13 Apr 2015, 12:12

^ Yes.

It would be pretty pointless without that wink.gif

Posted by: Shockwave 13 Apr 2015, 17:14

Nice update, I want to ask, will the Overlord get a model update ?

Posted by: Mr.Kim 13 Apr 2015, 17:24

I don't think the Overlord tank will not change model.

Posted by: re_simeone 13 Apr 2015, 17:31

I think model is pretty solid, maybe need texture update, and addition of Chen markings on it,but model is ok.

Posted by: Mr.Kim 13 Apr 2015, 17:41

Consider this patch will not including visual updates(textures and models) on the list.

Posted by: The_Hunter 13 Apr 2015, 20:03

There is not going to be any changes to the overlord.

The US seems to be built around stacking buffs (Avenger+Mule/Laser Guidance+Bombardment+Targeteer on offense, as well as what you mentioned on defense)

I really think the Overlord needs a few graphical changes to it's model here and there. First of all, I think the Overlord and Shenlong compliment each other and people are bound to compare them as this is the only version where you can use both simultaneously.

When I look at the Shenlong and Overlord, I really can't surge off the feeling the Overlord is lacking in a few aspects graphically.

First and a pretty big one that I found out today is that the Overlord lacks those awesome Headlights that the Shenlong and the Overlord Gattling Tank Variant has. tongue.gif I mean I was a bit dubious with the Overlord Gattling Tank model but now I have fallen in love with it because of those headlights.

Second, is that i have a certain feeling that the Overlord is exposed in the front side compared to the other Super Heavy tanks. I am not sure on why this is there but just gonna mention it anyways. So, I would like a few changes to the Overlord to make it on par with the Shenlong. smile.gif

Other than that the Overlord is fine. smile.gif

I have a question about this. When I played as a USA faction and I bulit a war factory to produce a vehicle, I just found out that there is no Bradley IFV tank there. Was there're a technical issuse or problems that the IFV Bradley tank wasn't there to produce it from a USA war factory?

Bradley was scrapped from 1.85 due to his redundance with humvees. This decision was explained by devs in another topic about this issue...

Nerf lotus?

It will reappear back in 2.0 this as an exclusive for general bradley. Though I don't know if it is going to be a humvee replacement or entirely new unit for him

Don't you use stealth detectors? (Sentry, Conscript, Sensor, radar van, troop crawlers)

or is it the capture ability?

Posted by: TimeBurner 26 Apr 2015, 6:04

The capture ability is so damn fast!
its still OP

try to keep at least two helis on guard mode near your most important buildings

quads and tractors for GLA

A LOT of dogs for ECA

Flame Thrower Han for China

Posted by: TimeBurner 26 Apr 2015, 7:37

Dont you not think I know that? but, even if you kill her, she most likely have already captured the buildings

You're the only one who has a problem with her on this forum. I don't think posting this suggestion in every thread is necessary.

Posted by: TimeBurner 26 Apr 2015, 8:47

Well, because she is OP and as Knjaz also said. Have you played lately?

Posted by: Megazord 26 Apr 2015, 10:29

Yep. Black Lotus is just like Burton, she can quickly get rid of your building if you're not paying enough attention. I've already learned to secure my base against this kind of threat and just send some anti-infantry units along with stealth detectors and I'm good to go. Lotus is even easier to counter, because she has no weapon, while Burton can easily tear through your units and then proceed to destroy your building - you need to be even quicker if you're dealing with him. So I don't think Lotus needs any nerfs right now.

Still doesn't give you the right to post everywhere about it. If Knjaz knows about it, then it's probably being discussed/fixed already, so stop this nonsense, and just wait patiently.
