Rise of the Reds Wikia, Calling all wiki request peoplez! I made one so you don't have Options

I've made a wikia for Rise Of The Reds. Unfortunatly my experience with wikias are 0, so I need your help, especially the title, if you know what i mean ._.

I will be editing and posting on it once in awhile, and any of you can too. I would especially like it if MARS would put stuff on it, because he basically invented the story behind it.

Alright, this is epic, now its time to get the word document working and get my mind ready, time to submit to this post so someone can edit the wiki. Also, can any of the devs give me the unit production icon that appears in the barracks/war factory/airfield when you go to purchase them? That be helpful, as I don't really know how to caputre images and modify them via photoshop? thanks.

Basically, right now, we are busy working on the mod so don't expect any official word on our wiki plans anytime soon. Chances are we'll deal with that kind of stuff after 2.0, when all the content is complete and finalised. However, I will not stop anyone from working on this one. Just make sure that whatever you put up there is spellchecked, factually correct, cross-referenced and canon. Depending on how good a job you guys make, we -might- as well just officialise this one by the time it's complete. I certainly wouldn't mind but I gotta talk about it with The_Hunter first. If you guys do this right, you'd be saving us a lot of work and time which we could dedicate to other things, and I'd certainly be thankful for that.

Just making sure - so basically it's okay if the weekly update info gets copy-pasted in the wiki as long as reference is mentioned?

Well, if we are talking about unit profiles, they should still have a proper 'pure fact' description i.e. who gets it, how much does it cost, where it is produced, what's required, what does it kill, what counters it etc. but alongside that, a lore description could be posted as well. Basically, you -can- model the sides after the ones in the old Wiki as long as you don't copy-paste full-text descriptions or other material from it. Although it'd say the basic structure of the pages should be laid out first before anyone starts adding lore elements.

I see no reason why we can't use content from the previous wiki as most of it was actually written by current or former team members, and the license does allow it.

Especially in the case of extremely tedious things such as the cameos, most of which have not changed, it would be an entirely useless waste of time to do the exact same thing again.

As long as it's written by people who are still with us (and who obviously hold the rights to the stuff that they wrote) you can do that but The_Hunter has made it clear that we do NOT wish to be
connected to that old Wiki in any fashion. That means no linking, no referencing and any images you use have to re-uploaded to the new wiki or replaced with newer, clearer ones if necessary.

Hmm...Kudos to the unofficial work, you might want to inquire as to if the tech-tree/build tree images for the factions can be uploaded since doing that will save a fair bit of time in writing it out manually.

Secondly, I'd advise against including opinion on units, or direct stats because these may change with different versions due to balance, and/or because opinion is opinion, and not fact. You need to keep everything objective.

Thirdly, keep the language formal without the emoticons or '1337' comments and similar. Formal wikia's look and read so much better.

Fourthly, a few longer pages broken up into relevant sections is far easier to navigate than having a ton of pages. If possible keep the number of pages to a complete minimum. Suggestion;

Something obvious - better replace all those "game" with "mod" in the subsection titels if you're going to make these subsections. It's so easy to forget that ROTR is still a mod and not an expansion game.

Started getting the pictures of Russian units for the wiki. Also, does anyone have any good way to capture video while playing the game, I think it be nice for tutiroals on "how to" for the factions.

Alright, I have a page for the Russian conscript thought out and on a word document, yet when I try to upload the attachment, I get a "You are not permitted to upload this type of fiel". And suggestions on how to upload my word document for critique and praise?

I'm no expert on wikis but why upload an MS word file? Isn't it simpler to make a new page?

I haven't edited a wiki page before, but I'll see how easy it is to do today. I will make a page for the Russian conscript. to begin with.
