Hello everybody, just joined this forum. Ive been following ROTR quietly for over a year or so. Generals is probably my favorite C&C from a gameplay perspective, so Im happy to see that people are keeping it alive in such spectacular fashion! That being said, I do have some questions that I cannot find the answer to anywhere:

1. Is there a reason as to why development is not giving any public updates? Until very recently I thought development died off after the last 1.86 update post on moddb and I cant be the only one. The last Youtube upload is from 2016 as well I believe. I dont know how big your team is, so maybe its just too time consuming? Though it would certainly reassure people that this mod and also the community isnt dead.

2. Are the beautiful High-Res graphics from the last update posts coming to the 2.0 release and will they be displayed like this in game? I started playing the game again a bit recently and forgot how bad the resolution is for todays standards. Is that something you intend to (or even are able to) fix?

3. Ive read some things on a community patch and internal (balancing) patches that are not in the public 1.87 release. Are those two things the same? And where can I get them? Also, there is a "Babushkas balancing patch" on moddb (which is how I even found out that ROTR is still being developed). Is that just a take on balance by some unrelated person or is it an "official" patch? Is THAT the community patch?

4. Where are all the Generals for the factions the Wiki talks about? I can only select the base factions in Skirmishes (running 1.87).

That being asked, I have one remark to make regarding the forum: I could only even access it after turning off IPv6 in my networking settings. Before that, the browser just returned a white page with "Could not determine your IP address in the top". And looking at, again, other posts at moddb I am not the only one with this problem. Its quite difficult to find any recent info on the mod for above reasons.

Please dont take this as a rant, Im very happy to see that this is still being worked on!

Have a nice day

Hello there! Let me answer some of those juicy questions!

1. Is there a reason as to why development is not giving any public updates? Until very recently I thought development died off after the last 1.86 update post on moddb and I cant be the only one. I have my own channel where I at times still do ROTR content (Originally it was all about ROTR and SHW but the loss of SWR net put people off playing.
SWR net 2 is ready and online right now but the way to access it will be packaged with the next version 1.9.
The reason why is because most people who do not have a forum update etc won't ever see the latest version which is still an [i][b]Open Public Beta [/b][/i] The version that will be shipped will (Most likely) have the new content teased and shipped displayed with story updates. It will be new, fresh and polished for them while we test our and play the latest version. As for the teams size, I dont think I'll comment on that but development has been mostly frozen with a few heart beats here and there due to people having to deal with real life stuff. This is a passion project, and you cannot rush perfection. The quality that people praise SWR mods for with textures, voice acting etc takes time...Be Patient :)

What resolution are you playing? God forbid its 800-600, you can customize your games resolution with Options ini but Gentool also provides widescren support. For me I use it for playing the game in borderless windowed mode!

CODE
Now there used to be two Major Balance patches in the Community, BP short for Balance patch (But there's a lot of [b]joke [/b]nicknames like Bullshit patch)
The other one was LG short for Lifes Good (It was the community patch that had development)
It had a great run with great changes, however after development restarted, the main patch leaders being testers decided to leave their projects and focus on the main base game.(This includes me, and I will tottaly say LG was better because I am biased, [b]go try both to see which one fits your taste[/b])

Both of these spawned because development crawled to a halt and both parties had their own views on how to fix the looming issues with the current tools at their disposal. Now  "Babushkas patch" is a satire of this era and the community split made by Enigma. Its a fun patch like Shockwave Chaos mod, which took the tryhard competitive perfectionist nature of shockwave and went to absurd extremes with it.
By all means, do not consider this to be something bad, It's not...Babushka is just for fun and not to be taken too seriously.

Also, because of development slowing down again....recent events show that LG and BP maybe re...ing....Keep your eyes peeled and maybe join the Discord to learn more

The Generals will be added in 2.0, some of their specific units are in the game, check the units close by to see the logos. As for the full list or things out there? They are heavily subject to changes so don't try to piece the puzzle you'll go mad. Next version will probably be 1.9, then we'll move on to the final 2.0, however, the base factions will still be the only ones there...When you start the game you'll be picking your general. There won't be any vanilla factions in 2.0.
The IP thing is what skitt said, Its okay to be fustrated as we all love this project (I probably love it more then you;) But good things...They take time

Was playing on the highest that the default game allowed me to. But that Gentool is a godsend, thank you for that. Now the game looks like I actually remember it. Looked like vomit before this cool.gif

I also noticed the game slows down significantly when playing, say, a 3v3 Skirmish. I read somewhere that this is the AI but that was regarding Vanilla and I understand you guys have your own AI for ROTR? Cant find any reliable info on that either.

And how do you run it in Borderless Window? I tried with adding -win -xres 1920 -yres 1080 in the properties of the Launcher Shortcut, cant tell if it worked though mellow.gif . Does it fix the crashes when alt-tabbing? Thanks for the infos so far.
